Good job! Mines in the mail right now. Stupid 3 month wait. Videos like this and implementing this with my Make Noise trifecta and all of those lovely clock and gate out’s from my TR-8s keeps me patient.
Like someone else said, this video convinced me to get a QS. I have watched a lot of videos, but yours really stood out. Exactly the sounds I want to make. So I ordered one and it arrived today. So much you can do with this little device. I love it. Thank you for convincing me.
I love this so much. Convinced me I need the QS. It’s on the way right now but now I feel like I need a DFAM too. What do you think of the pairing? Do they work well together ?
I have both, if you already have something with a cv out that you can sync with get the DFAM first, it's incredibly versatile! If you don't have CV you can send a midi clock to the swarm and run a CV clock to the DFAM, so get the swarm first. They do work very well together though. I love plugging the velocity or pitch from the DFAM into the swarms freq cv to really give it some character, similarly you can use the swarms lfo on the DFAM to open up new sonic possibilities.
Thanks! Ableton ping pong delay only for FX, notes sequenced on the swarm but reset triggers sequenced from beatstep pro - making it a 16/16 loop rather than 8/8.
Wow, really impressive. Do you know if clocking is possible from a DAW (e.g. Ableton)? Or is there another device needed (e.g. Korg SQ-1)? Or asked differently, how do you sync the Swarm to meet Ableton's BPM?
Thanks :) the swarm has midi input, so I believe if you have an audio interface with midi out, you should be able to send clock from Ableton to the swarm. If the korg sq-1 can be slaved to Ableton through USB then you could use CV for clock. My preference has been to use the beatstep pro as the master clock, and Ableton is clocked externally by the beatstep. All the other hardware is clocked from the CV out or midi out of the beatstep.
Thanks! Mainly just playing around with the knobs and then thinking about what each control is doing/how they feed into eachother. Beginner here too, the manual became more useful the more I just messed around with the synth! Helps to watch some RUclips videos on traditional synthesis, like how VCOs VCFs and VCAs are chained and work together.
@@NETrevgadget Many thanks for your response and all the information! I appreciate it... I'm gonna order the Swarm very soon... one more question if you don't mind.. I've notice that you've fit the Swarm on the rack. Did you get another eurorack version of the synth or there is a possibility to somehow 'convert' the standalone version with sides and fit it as a eurorack module.. Thanks!
@@NETrevgadget I'd never expected it.. I really like that possibility! I'm planning to buy a few eurorack modules + DFAM in the near future so I might fit the Swarm to the case too. Many thanks for the support! Best
Great job! Do you tend to "save" your Swarm patches by drawing it up or taking a picture? Or do you just let it live in the moment and make a new one each time?
Thanks! I take a photo of the patch if I really like it but I've yet to actually use those photos, if I have an idea I usually like to just dial everything back to zero and go from there.
@@NETrevgadget Same here, I also have a Swarm and tok some photos to begin with, but I can't see myself ever using them. The knobs produce so different sounds with minor adjustments and I tend to vary the patch a lot during play so I guess it's not that useful. I also posted some videos of the Swarm in my channel in case you're interested. Anyways your work is highly appreciated and I really like what you do. Thanks for the content you are creating.
Groovy :) I can see the sworm's steps are payed non-linear. Is this its sequencers' feature or are you doing this from outside sworm with other modules?
Thanks for the explanations! What a crazy patch ❤
Great jam. That Feeback you did was gnarly!
This is a really cool video, enjoying reading what you are doing while listening

Awesome, worth the wait for sure!
Same as ordered in November. Can’t wait to get my hands on it sounds awesome.
@@enge1966 wait wtf November 2020 and you still haven't gotten it?
this is a durty lil sob synth! awesome
This is brilliant
This is super sick
Awesome.
Holy Shit. This is insane. Im buying one
Awesome sound. Excellent mixture of tones, too.
I like your Sounds like 90´s
Fantastic.
Great jam! what are the hats that come in at 1:47?
That patch sounds amazing!

Love to hear that! Have fun with the little beast!!

Thanks!
Very nice
Thank you!

This is great
Excellent!
What's VCA Out doing?Parallel processing?
Awesome mate
Nice!

What are you doing with the QS VCA out? Tx.

Cheers! I think they're a match made in heaven.
I convinced myself a couple of months back. Absolutely no regrets! (Though I did then add a Mother 32 as well as the DFAM). What can you do!?

are you using the internal sequencer or are you sequencing it externally?
Think for this one it's sequenced internally but with external reset triggers
Does it come with patch cables?
Yes mine came with a few
Great sound. What are you using for the FX?
And also, is this using the internal sequencer? Cheers
Yes this is it’s own built in sequencer and built in effects
Thanks! Ableton ping pong delay only for FX, notes sequenced on the swarm but reset triggers sequenced from beatstep pro - making it a 16/16 loop rather than 8/8.
@@NETrevgadget How do you set the reset triggers from the BSP?
@@extraterrestriallover1484 just sending gate triggers from one of the drum pad sequences!
Sounds very convincing. Are all of the modulations in this patch based on QS circuits?
Everything except reset triggers sent from the beatstep pro to the QS sequencer is internal.

@@NETrevgadget so you use cv out from beatstep to send a clock to the swarm? Literally sold my beatstep just before I got the swarm ahah.
@@rubenbetjes5725 yep. I've thought about selling the BSP a couple times but I keep finding different ways to use it, it's probably a keeper hah
have you found that your QS is finicky? I've had knobs just go unresponsive and the sequencer stop working in the middle
hey, cool sounds! where are you patching the ’vca’-out to?
Thanks! The vca out is patched to the DFAM, I actually just forgot to unplug it for this video as it's not doing anything for this patch.
