@MrMiseeire The last time i saw Rory was circa 1980/1 at Preston Guild Hall my wife had never seen him and didnt really listen when i played his records, the band came out and went straight into Back in your Town,a long version ,but Rory was so charismatic ,she was transfixed .. like the rest of us,he played his heart out as always.He looks ill on his later gigs but he could still play great up to the end. No gig i ever went to had such a genuine feeling of affection and amazemet .

Rory always embraced his audience. He made them feel like they were part of the show. He would jam, & hang, & talk to his audience like they were at his place. I was lucky enough to meet Rory Gallagher many years ago. I was too stupid, young or ignorant to realise who he was, at the time. But he was a true gentleman, and a fabulous musician. I miss him.
I saw Rory live in 1989 at a jazz club in Tempe, Az by the name of Chuy"s. He blew the doors off the place. It was the best live show I've ever seen. Rip Rory.

Purity and greatness are often not linked. Both words describe Rory. He never deviated from the music he loved. Fame was not important. Playing to an appreciative audience was. For that, I am forever grateful. He remains along with Robin Trower, my favorite guitar players.

He's brilliant! I think Rory's up there in blues heaven with Stevie, Jimi, and other dearly departed musicians who left us far too soon, just having the time of his life. And I hope we see them all again someday!
Is it just me, or do I hear the possible influence for George Thoroughly Good's "One Bourbon, one Scotch and one Beer"? Rory was one of those Masters that Too many of us used to mainline music on the AM/FM radio and such missed out on during the 70's and the 80's. I saw his brilliance then and often wondered why this man never made the Media recognition and Fame that he deserved then. Raw Blues/Rock here that Shines!
How he sings the guard melody during the chorus/bridge…….chills. Such a legend…..and a wonderful human being by all accounts. Look up what Alex lifeson from rush has to say about him.
This man just loved to play. Here is someone doing their thing and loving every minute of it. I think this is (his undoubted prowess aside) maybe what made Rory so much better to watch than most of his contemporaries. I am so glad to have seen him live in his prime. Great stuff!

I could see Rory twice in the 70's in Madrid, Rory is hypnotic, magnetic, ahead of his time, pure magic, Rory always in my heart.

Was introduced to Rory in the early 70's through the album Tattoo, I was about 14 and from then to this day he still tells a fine story.
