8 years later I found you and your mom. I don’t imagine you still have her but how wonderful that at 92 she could be so quick and lively! God Bless her.
I’m going to pick up some dates and make these. 😋

What a blessing to have such a lovely mother, Robert. I close my eyes and imagine the young boy, Robert, hanging around the kitchen watching his Mum makes her delicious scones. You are loving and smart to honor this treasure while you still have her with you. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have one more hour with my Mom. I learned to love the Aussies from my Dad who fought alongside them in WW II. May God richly bless you, your family, and Australia forever.

Nooooooo, Robert!! Crikey, I was so smitten by your mum and as I watched her mix…welllll, I connected to her having lost my mum near 20 years ago now, but the clincher was when your mum tossed the dates in her mix - BINGO - that made me cry! My mum was a British war-bride, my Aussie dad taking her back to OZ after he played his part in the Battle for Britain. My mum made her scones the same way! Robert, this vid has truly made my day in so many ways! Today, I shall make “Mother’s Scones” to honour both our mum’s! Heaps o’ love from this Sydneysider that this random vid has blessed me so!❤🦘🇦🇺

Bless you for doing a video of your mum making scones. Nobody bake like our mum’s. We try to replicate their cooking and baking but, we never quite get it. I love that she shares her mum cut her scone into squares but, she likes to cut them round. Your video is priceless, cherish the treasure of your mum while you have her. And thank you Mrs. King for personally sharing your scone recipe with us. I don’t even care what they look like when they’re done. I’ll try Mrs. Kings’ scone recipe and find out for myself.

I'm confused. Because if that's the real guy, then how come the channel icon and the number of subscribers doesn't match, or the fact that there's no videos/content on that channel? Translation: I'm not really confused, but I'm saying I think it's a fake Robert McDonnell, and that they're trolling you, regardless if the woman is alive or not.

Interesting recipe. I've never seen scones containing chopped dates, we Pomms use raisins or currants, but I like dates so I'd certainly give these a try. And your lovely mum has the best method, handling the dough as little as possible and no excessive kneading just cutting and scraping the ingredients together, well floured and decisive cutting of each scone straight onto the baking tray, job done. As for those commenting on self raising flour not being around 100 years ago, baking powder added to plain flour was the way to get cakes/scones etc. to rise.

So this has inspired me to bake.. well Idk what to call them but they turned out terrific, and with all the ingredients I have left over in my fridge.
    - 140 mL coconut milk at 17% fat
    - 125 g plain flour
    - 8g of baking powder
    - i deliberately incorporated in chips of palm sugar, did not measure how much tho
    - pinch of salt
    - 10g of cane sugar
I simply mixed them all together, stir as little as I could to not stiffen the dough, divided them into 4 balls that I put on a greased baking tray. Then in the preheated oven they went, at 220°C for 15 minutes.
Fluffy, moist and they smell like heaven.
Thank you for sharing your recipe!

janet lesley “Sifting” flour with a sieve is a left over necessity from when flour may have contained bits of detritus. Aerating does absolutely nothing because as soon as you add liquid there is no aeration; it just looks nice for a few seconds.
