I started to play solo last month only, and now I’m going through my shelf looking at what games I own that have a solo mode. I love Golem so, will definitely try the solo mode. Re: variability, I also believe that a game will have quite a different flavour depending on your starting player board set up combined with your initial resources, plus the objectives cards, IMO. Cheers!
What a great video! I didn’t care about the game (and still don’t) but the quality of the video and how clear you explain things hooked me till the end! I really enjoyed the very short but on-point game explanation at the beginning (with pictures!). Great job!
Thank you very much! That overview style is new for me as I don't want to dwell too long on rules explanations like some do. Just a general overview of the major mechanics and themes i feel is enough to fill a couple minutes. 😊👍🤗
Yes and that’s exactly what is needed. What’s the game is about and be done. I would rather watch a 30 minutes long video dedicated to just that if I wanted to LEARN the game. But that’s a review video , so kudos Luke!
Love your reviews! Even though we may disagree on certain preferences, you always present information I find relevant and meaningful in regard to my purchasing decisions. Thanks for what you do!
Holly smoke!!! Luke liking Heavy Dry Euro game??? World is ending!!!! 😂😂😂 Cracking review as usual! Great to see you in such great form!!! Hopefully we can meet for game of two in your aeria or in London.
This one I have been circling for a long time and it looks excellent. I am still not sure if I like Lorenzo or not. I have always thought I do, but I am not sure that is actually the case. This, on the other hand, looks excellent and the theme and subject matter are pretty unique.
I wasn't sure what I would think of this one. Some of your description reminds me of Tristmegistus but with a bit more fidliness. I'll probably wait on this one and see how it plays out down the road. Mostly sounds like an 'ok' heavy euro with below average components and an 'ok' theme.
I guarantee you this is no where near as fiddly or over convuluted as Tris was. Certainly you can trigger a lot of stuff on your turn but it makes more sense and just means you can't be half asleep in the game.
@@TheBrokenMeeple Oh! Well, perhaps Golem is lighter than it looks. Very good then, I shall have to take a closer look down the road. If I'm luck someone will have it at BGG Con
@@TheBrokenMeeple 🤣. Have you tried Founders of Gloomhaven? Probably not the worst but one of the best examples of a game that feels like it should be lighter than it is...lol. Still, that's quite helpful to hear you found it to be that fiddly. I felt awful teaching it the other day and felt like I did a terrible job...perhaps there's good reason and should have gone a bit slower (or chose a simpler game 😜)
Great review. Could you tell me is there a problem in this game with putting this marbles(balls) in a way that you might placing them in a lines that you prefer?
I was really interested in this one. Glad you liked it! Just waiting for it to pop up for preorder so I can nab it. I do disagree on you with the cover though, I really like it but creepy faces are kind of my aesthetic.
wow I'm surprised you liked this lol shame they didn't include a reference cheet, it does seem to have a lot of iconography. I thought the first in lorenzo but then realized how straight forward the iconography is that only for a few cards did I have look at the rules. Is the iconography more tedious on this one? I was hoping you didn't like it so you could send it to me :) great video.
Nah the iconography is relatively straightforward once you know the rules. The artifacts are probably the more fiddly part of the game but not something you can't overcome. The combo turns you make in this as well as the variety in approaches make this one a solid one for me.
Seems the only player count is one, as there is almost no interaction, useless to play with more, just longer. The problem is that the solo seems to be too easy, I saw a play through, the guy has bitten the automa by 100 pts !
Seems like it would scratch the same itch as Darwin's Journey I backed a while ago. So this one is a pass, the look of it really does not pull me in as well.
Wonderful presentation. Congratulations from “Bao Electronic Board Game” RUclips channel that bring African Culture Bao Game to digital world; helps in development of strategic thinking skills.

Love your reviews. Your ability to summarise a game in about 20 minutes is really astounding. You sir, will be my main source of reviews from now on.
Wow, thanks! 😻😻😻
Glad to see the solo mode is enjoyable enough too. I’ve got my eye on this one.

Will try this game out this weekend. The copy I won during the Dice Tower Autumn Spectacular came in this week so am looking forward giving it a spin.
Lucky you! :D

Many thanks my good friend! 👍😀

We will have to come up with an excuse for a London day or overnight visit with games 👍

Well it's not light but Tris was a convuluted nightmare with far too much complexity.

Great review! Very thorough. And, MY GOD, do I need this game!
Ha ha thanks!
Sounds like a winner. Thanks Luke!
Do you find it as tight as Newton or is it a bit more forgiving? And is it a more powerful engine that escalates or more lite Newton?
Definitely escalates more. I didn't think Newton was super tight, this would probably be on par I guess.
Thanks for the great review. I’m surprised you liked it given your dislike for the designers other game.
I know right? 😳
Great review. Could you tell me is there a problem in this game with putting this marbles(balls) in a way that you might placing them in a lines that you prefer?
Not that I've seen. It's pretty balanced overall and honestly I never look at the synagogue when dropping them in.

I love the PA part :)
What does Gollum have to do with that game and why is there more than one? ;-)
Cloning Smeagol :P
The automa seems like Botankhamun from Tekhenu...
Well you don't have a separate pyramid function to manipulate. I found this easier than that one.
@@TheBrokenMeeple Looks good! Considering picking this one up. Thanks for the review, and have a great weekend.

There are multiple difficulty levels I think so he probably played on easy

Didn't back Darwin but I would try it.
Very informative and detailed review! Since I like Lorenzo, its a pass for me ;)

It is Hebrew and ponounced Go Lum- THe first wqay you said it.
Good to know, thanks!
