She has been around in Europe and Russia for at least 25 years but was somehow overlooked by the American audience, although she speaks perfect English. This is a great song from Catalugnia where Jose Carreras was born. The Norwegians are proud of many things, but above all, they are endlessly proud of Sissel Kyrkjebø, the Voice of Norway!.
I don’t overlook her, in fact I share her beautiful Voice on my cell phone with Nature, when walking or in my yard. My animal friends enjoy, also, as most likely, do the plants.

Her opera equivalent is Patricia Janeckova who is 20 years old.the same crystal clear voice ,the same clarity,perfect pitch,only the youngster has much more power in her voice . if you have never listened to her videos in RUclips ,you can't possibly comprehend what you are missing!!!To me Sissel is the absolut best at what she does,but Patricia is the best voice i have ever heard!!!They have a unique characteristic,both of them.The higher their voice goes the better,more stable and more clear it becomes instead of cracking!!!Nobody else has that ,exept from those two angels.

If I were asked to describe love and heaven to a blind person it would be this version of this song. Further, if I were asked to name the very best soprano I've ever heard it would be, without question, Sissel. How she has escaped the American market is beyond me. It is our great loss. The other night I was playing this, at rather high levels, and I was unaware my wife was in the back room and midway through she came in sobbing and took my hand raising me to dance. I will never forget how strongly she held me crying words of a sacred love. We've been married 33 years and this is one of the most tender moments I've ever experienced of that love. Thank you Sissel and Jose. May God continue to bless you this day and all your days.
She was on her way to conquering the American market many years ago but she stopped after finding it took her away from her family for too much time. She had little children back then so she chose them over international fame. She still sang and is still singing but on her own terms. She says she has no regrets and she even though she didn't go for the American market, she a very beloved singer here in Norway, the rest of Scandinavia and parts of Europe. She's Queen Sonja of Norway's favorite artist and has performed for the royal family many a time in addition to European royalty. I'm glad to hear she has a little following across the pond though. It's hard not to love her singing when you're exposed to it but I guess that's the issue with breaking into the American market, it's very saturated and takes a lot of time to get noticed in. The most blessed by this kind of duet are the lucky people who speak both languages and receive all of the emotion of love in this song. The rest of us must be satisfied with her interpretation of the emotion in English. But we also love to hear the words of Jose. They are so beautiful and filled with emotion. And then she takes off with him in his words! Pure beauty.
She makes Jose get into the love of the song! The way he looks at her. The respect and joy singing with her. Then when they sing together, it puts the cap on it. The ending, JOY and touch.

I don't know her, she undoubtedly has a beautiful voice, but it seems to me that there have always been such crystal clear, sweet women's voices, maybe not so numerous, but once in a few years such a star appears, so - IMHO - she isn't very special or unique, but Jose Carreras - at least to me! - is somebody absolutely unique. His timbre is unusually noble. Nobleness - this is his trademark, I would say. Please don't feel offended - it wasn't my intention. Regards!
