For baldurs gate 3, there isn't really a "wrong" answer, only the ones you didn't intend. The game allows you to be the hero, the villain, the flirt, the nature lover, the cunning tactician or the brute forcer. The choices are all yours. I dont blame you for feeling overwhelmed by it, its a hugely open ended game that does a pretty good job at adapting to and rolling with choices you make. But that means its enormous.and you are guaranteed to miss something in each playthrough because for some decisions, they open one door and close another. As for how many hours? People put a few hundred hours into a single playthrough. Its a very long game. Especially if you want to explore. Some decisions have consequences, but at the same time, dealing with those consequences can lead to a better final outcome than trying to do it all perfectly from the start. Personally i dont find astarion that hot either, but i cant deny gale is handsome, or halsin for that matter. Wyll i could take or leave, and minsc, minsc is minsc.. I unironically and unexaggeratedly think Baldurs gate 3 might be one of, if not the best game ever made to date. But i also know that its not a game for everyone, because if you make a game for everyone, you end up making a game for no one. Baldurs gate captures the D&D experience well, you can approach it in many ways, and the results will be varied, you can be a goofy troll like maxor, or a genuine champion of the people, or an angsty dark cursed person trying to contain their inner demons,. And the game doesn't cheap out on these plot lines,. Evil play throughs are as well written as normal ones. Some people claim even better written. But its pretty subjective at that point. I do reccomend trying it in co op, if the general initial openness scares you, just get someone you trust to help guide you through the story. Most of the "consequences" are fairly predictable, or are foreshadowed well but if youre not familiar with that sort of game, it can ffeel jarring to have have small accidents matter,
I locked myself out of liek 90% of the game, I was playing the Dark Urge, and I was giving into those urges without hesitation. You see, I skipped over the Druid Grove, joined the Goblins, killed all the Tieflings and Druids, ended up having to kill Karlach because she found out and was angry for some reason. That was when I gave up on letting anyone live, because if I can't have a Muscle Mommy then nobody else can live. I recruited Minthara, killed everyone on every side who wasn't actively in my party getting corrupted into irredeemable monsters, redeemed Shadowheart while also making her an Amoral hopeless Romantic. By the end of the game I had turned the Rich guy to my side, and had him give me the means to brainwash not only him, but also the giant freaking brain that we called The Absolute, giving myself Godlike Power, supported by the Psychotic Champion of Elune who was also my wife, and with a Sociopathic Vampire Godling as my righthand. And oh yeah, found out I was a Demi-God child of Baal, the God of Blood and Murder. I only managed to recruit the three companions, the only thing I saw of Gale was his hand, that I cut off of him when he was asking for me to help him out of the dimensional crack. I kept the hand through the whole Playthrough.
To give you an idea, I'm at 812 hours of playtime on BG3, several characters created, only 3 made it to the end, 2 of those runs were with friends. I still manage to find new things on the way and still haven't done a single Evil complete run.
Pretty sure you don't need to worry about 'locking yourself out' of anything. As the video probably suggested, there's a large object somewhere that will send you back if you get too wild or murderous, whether or not you or someone else activates it.
The part about saving the Deep Gnomes, and them turning out to be racist is actually kinda true, too lol. That specific clan of Deep Gnomes is super pissed at a clan of Rock Gnomes (Who are currently being enslaved and their families held in an underwater prison so they can build a robot army), called Gondians, because the ancestors of the Gondians stole the credit for some old project (If I remember correctly), and got the Deep Gnomes kicked out of the city of Baldur's Gate, and now the Deep Gnomes want revenge on them. So, if you're a good character, and manage to save both clans from their respective predicaments, the Deep Gnomes force you to choose a side. If you choose the Gondians, the Deep Gnomes immediately try to jump you. You can talk them down, and they leave, but it's a hilarious predicament either way.
If looks are the issue, then it is nothing that can't be fixed with mods. Fixed a divisive partner with a mod that let's you character create the companions myself
I don't think this type of game is for you, you need a game where you need only 2 buttons to press, and not think about it too much.. And who cares if you're gay or straight! if romancing is the only reason you would play BG3, then go play something else.. You were right to stop after only 2 hours

Everyone wants to earn money by doing as little as they can, I understand that, but when everyone thinks they're too good for actual labor, then no one wants to do it! I work outside 8 hours a day, trimming lawns, chopping overgrown trees, gardening after work, and I still find time to play BG3, I'm currently playing my 20th run, over 3000 hours since game's release, and I STILL find new stuff in it, just found a piece of equipment that I never saw before! That is why I keep coming back

BG3 is a great dating sim game. That is the only reason to play it.
