Ya YEET floor mat foam. I most get mine at Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Amazon. TNT Cosplay online is a pretty good source too. They sell it in rolls with no texture.
Ya YEET I mostly just guess on measurements. You can measure you head and add an inch to your circumference, length and width. You cut and bend where you need curves. Evil Ted, Punished Props and Xieng Prod have awesome template making tutorials.
