The whole "No Pinching" thing is because that's the Horrors' weakness. Apparently, if you pinch them, they deflate, rendering them defenseless.
Not much better than the whole "it's just a dream" thing, though...

The funny thing is the little girl really is evil. The "twist" is that you're trying to save that same girl from the Horrors, but it turns out she's the "Great Gargantua" and they were trying to keep her contained.

It's almost as if 3rd party developers didn't give a sh*t about quality when developing for this thing. Look at Crash Bandicoot, then at this. Crash is over 10 years old and it still looks better.
It did surprise me with the graphics and it's a Wii game. I was like 'It's a Wii game?!' Graphics aren't everything in my option. I believe that what makes a game enjoyable is the music, story, voice acting (if any) and that you are having fun. Graphic are good but it only depends on what type of game it is, like I love Hyrule Warriors because of the game-play and detail to surroundings and characters, a game like that needs good detail.
CRUSH40RULES Here's the thing. If a modern game's visuals look more than 1 generation behind what current systems are capable of, considering it's a 3D game, the dev's were not f***ing trying. Modern systems should be making it easier for a devs to achieve more detail, with this game they just didn't care. This is the reason the Wii has a terrible reputation as a console.
***** It's not that bad. I mean, yeah, it's got a couple of quirks but it doesn't mean it's completely s***y. I'm playing Skyward Sword at the moment, (almost beaten it) and the only thing the irks me is the wii-motion controller, that thing that makes sword swinging and aiming realistic and it really bugs me that I was lucky to beat The Imprisoned 3 times, that includes the Thunder Dragon's challenges! Also, this Goosebumps game might've been one of the earliest Wii games so maybe the developers were not used to it. Graphics don't need to 100% to make a good game, as long as you're having fun.

There's no pinching allowed in Horrorland cause in the original story by R.L. Stine, when you pinched a Horror (The fat horned green figures), it would make them deflate and die. :3

This is my favorite intro other than the Christmas intro.
I actually remember from the story, they also found it odd that there were so many warnings against pinching. When they're about to lose, they start pinching the monsters, making them go *'pthhhhhhhhhhhhh'* until they're empty. Surprised it took me this long to remember that weirdness.

Juan Irving no i'm not talking about a new one, i'm talking about how i thought this was return to horrorland, an old windows 95 disk game i played as a child where most of the backgrounds were handmade pictures or photos, and most the animation/movement was using actual people in a video with the video-game world in the background.

I read this book as a kid, the no pinching thing is about the ending where the characters pinch all the monsters and they deflate like balloons. Yes it's that retarded.

to some people my comment isn't exactly clear. I was talking about how by looking at the game i remembered that the wii was made in a time where games like this were the definition of a great looking game. I still remember my PS2 being pretty new when this came out.

In the original book, there were signs everywhere that said "No pinching" because that was their weakness. If you pinched then, they deflated and died.

Saw the Goosebumps movie and enjoyed it, but I was bummed that there weren't any Horrors in it.
That book is the only one I think could work as its own movie.

Why do 3rd party studios rarely try to make Wii Games look good? All of the Nintendo made games look great, Sega made some really good looking games, but a lot of these shovel ware games just didn't try.
it was easier to make games look good when working with sprites instead of 3d models. even those bad disney games like pinnochio were a lot easier on the eyes than this...
Also it may not be totally the developer's fault. Shovelware games are usually given tiny budgets, and very short development cycles. When they're short on time and money the best they can do is usually super ugly graphics. On the other hand, Nintendo first party takes an "it's done when it's done" approach to design so they can keep delaying games until they've hit the Nintendo standard of quality. It also doesn't hurt that Nintendo is loaded with money so their games probably have much larger budgets to begin with.

I feel like I’m going insane
It's been a while since I read the book, but I'm pretty sure that the "no pinching" was because pinching destroyed the monsters. For some reason. That's why the graphic for the loading-screen no pinching sighs shows the monsters.
I feel like the origination of people disliking skyward sword comes from everyones lack of motivations to actually SWING the wiimote like a sword instead of wiggling it like your weener.
I loved skyward sword, and while it certainly wasnt the best LoZ game, it definitely doesnt deserve the hate it gets just because people dont want to look childish. Embrace your inner child. Have fun. Immerse yourself.
Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are my favorites, but I feel like Skyward combines the art styles of both so perfectly. So colorful and vibrant, but with a touch of realism.
What made me hate it is a lack of an actual overworld, and what you would call an "overworld" in skyward sword was a bunch of floating rocks with the occasional npc on a few of them, the wiimote swinging made combat fun though, if most peoples problem is swinging their arms then they've got their priorities in the wrong place.

Well keep in mind that this is the first Zelda in aspects of the timeline (until they make another one in a couple of years). So Hyrule hasn't been thought of much in turns of land.

Yeah, they really should've had some villages on the surface world. That way you wouldn't have to backtrack for days just to find a bird statue to go up and resupply. Also, it would've made it much more immersive.

Holy shit, as a kid I actually had a dream about an amusement park that had no restrooms or exits. If I recall correctly, a bunch of us trapped there were planning a way to fight/kill the people running it to get out. I've just realized how weird my dreams were when I was younger.

Jesus christ, I used to have the original 'Escape From Horrorland' for PC back in the mid-90s as a kid; I can safely say the point-n-click live action crap I went through was -way- more entertaining than this. Also, Jeff Goldblum was the enemy.

Oh my gosh, I have this exact game on my standard Nintendo DS. The faces aren't animated on it and the graphics are a little more polygonal. I never beat it, but I really enjoyed the game, and seeing Arin and Dan rip into this game gives me so much joy. X3
