It’s remarkable the wood is still there around the openings of the machine gun slots. They must have treated the wood with something for it to last that long near a beach area. The shelves in the bunker looks like they would put the soldiers to far back from the opening. Still great to see. Love how you show us the small details that others would consider insignificant.

That wood stunned me too seing it still there so close to the ocean. Very special that is is. Thanks Anthony.

It’s so crazy that these buildings hold so many stories that are untold , a lot of people could’ve died/written to loved ones/ laughed with their comrades and lived their life right around those walls , we’re lucky that they still stand with their bullet scars otherwise these areas would just be another field with a forgotten past

How long had you been going on these adventures before you decided to do a RUclips channel. The knowledge you have on all your videos, you must have been studying about these areas and the items found for quite a while. I enjoy seeing these untouched bunkers. The graffiti on a lot of them takes away from there history. I agree with you that the sound inside the bunker when firing the guns had to be defining. I have several guns that I have to wear hearing protection because they are so load. I can only imagine firing them inside a bunker. You always take us to the best locations.

Are you sure there isn’t one across the beach, because MG and anti tank bunkers used the concept of the kill box in WWII. It is basically where a bunker is made opposite each other like say on the other side of (in this case) a slope making a easier way up the coastal cliffs. The bunker's firing arch’s will over lap with each other creating a triangle or gem shaped kill box.

have you thought about looking at German areas with free online LIDAR maps?
It's pretty cool, it strips away all the trees so you can see the ground below the tree tops

Perhaps a fastening for some sort of hatch that was fixed into the outer concrete frame as a protection against cold and draft. I am German and i can say it - we are crazy when it comes to closed windows! You have to have the chance to open a window just a bit to let in fresh air 😉
If there was a hatch (and with the climate out there it most probably existed) there must have been something to fasten the hatch in different positions.

Bunkers weren’t a great idea as when the enemy over took the shelter the position was lost, the soldiers were left locked inside and can’t escape when attacked. A mobile facility was the and is the only way to defend your position so you can move around when required. Bunker were a very poor idea in military warfare, hench they are no longer considered these days in the theatre of war. By the way the bunkers at Normandy were over run within 48 hours of the allied forces landing.

4:18 😮🏃‍♂MINEN?? running away....... They spent all that time building all these bunkers in this area, but the allies RARELY went near it.........must have been a really easy posting for the troops as you say. Probably on the beach all day or playing football! When we were shooting on the range every year to keep our weapons certificates current - that was loud enough. Let alone in an ENCLOSED BUNKER! We had ear plugs - these guys didnt!!
