Wow! Fantastic save! Thank you for taking the challenge! I hope you had as much fun as we had doing this challenge. That tree looks fantastic! It's really neat seeing prices and availability differences all over the continent and world. Fascinating.... Well done you two💚❤
my 9 year old son did something like this. I was picking up an order and he found a Ficus that was in severe need of help. We ended up getting 2 for the price of one and they are both starting to show new growth! spent a total of maybe $38!!
Let’s not even get started on the US $50 vs CA $50 issue 😆😆😆 Nice work Jerome and Mari And definitely the first I have seen promoting their own product 😁😁😁
@Bonsai Science For the most FUN and creative in challenge so far. But this out of the more than a dozen I have watched is closest to a "true" Bonsai straight after the challenge
Kind of surprised you didn’t go for a shallower pot, but I suppose it wouldn’t have been in the $50 budget assuming that you put ~$25 into the plant and $10-20 into the soil and everything else. I’d love to know what your creative thinking was in that respect, given the limitations of the challenge
Hi! the pot came with the tree. I looked for the best possible tree, and thought I could make any pot work. If I would have had money left over I would have gone into a shallower pot for sure.
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply I understand. I think we’ve been to the same chain of store and seen the same kinds of ficus and Chinese elm bonsai. Do you think those pots can work well for something like a semi cascade/cascade? Maybe a small azalea? I saw an elm that I might end up buying and I’m trying to think of what I’ll do with the pot. Right now I’ll probably just stick a cactus in it. :P
Hey David. It is probably sold out. You can go to Homedepot.com and order it to the store or directly to your home. Shipping is free🙂 www.homedepot.com/p/The-Bonsai-Supply-Bonsai-Soil-Mix-Fast-Draining-Coarse-Blend-for-All-Bonsai-Varieties-Available-in-2-Qt-and-20-Qt-Sized-Bags-Bonsai-Soil-2Qt/316462348
It's a fun idea, might have to suggest it as a club activity on our Facebook page. It's a bit early here yet although could kick it off with a deciduous tree.✌
It breaks my heart to say it, but I think this is the coolest tree so far!!! Well done Mari and Jerome, next we head to the land down under!!!
Who’s crying to their mame now? 😆

Great job, Sensei. Bought a nearly identical ficus today. Making a round pot for it. Need time to gather defoliation courage.

Another $50 bonsai challenge! So looking forward to it!

This $50 challenge has certainly grown! I wonder when someone is going to nominate Ryan or Bjorn?

Agree with the conversion rate concern!
Thank you Jason! We just followed the rules. LOL
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply that Nigel fella has got nothing on you guys 🤭
I knew as soon as I saw the tree it would be a windswept. You should put it up for auction after it gets established, that is going to be a nice tree.
Thank you Michael. Much appreciated!
Love it!
Update please! Great job!
Very nice, looks great, I am going to Home Depot 😁

Nice 👍
Do you have any updates on this one? It'd be interesting to see what it looks like a year later!
Thank you..
Dramatic windswept👉🌫🌪🌬beautiful structure of branches🌫🌬
Without showing any roots that support the tree which way the tree trunk is leaning🍃
Its all about the drama 😅
