Rappler invite nyo naman po next time sa live jam yung ibang indie opm like: MilesExperience, Rusty Machines, CHNDTR, Loop, Tom's Story, Tide/edit, Oh! Flamingo, The Camerawalls, Peso Movement, Taken By Cars, Yolanda Moon, Peryodiko, Banna Harbera, Carousel Casualties, Ourselves The Elves, Maude, Hey! its your birthday, The Geeks, Identikit, Run Dorothy, The Strangeness, The Buildings :)
I like how they compose the melodies in their songs. There's a certain theme to their music, and I think that's great. A lot of Filipino bands, whether indie or established, lacks a theme in their music. The problem with having no theme in your music is that people can accuse of merely adopting some new trends from music scenes elsewhere, say from British music festivals.
Tumpak. Other musicians just flow along with what is trending or whatsoever most people like to hear. This band plays music which they stick to their style and genre, no matter what's and which is trending. Reminds me of green day, last years they released new music which sounded like how their band do sound like. Like how they sounded like a decade ago. They didn't really consider the matter whether people will like their music style or not because for millennial s, edm is a real trend. Green day made their music no matter the trend. Just like this band.
Folk is totally foreign for a Filipino ear, so even if these kids are hugely influenced by bands such as, and obviously, Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters And Men, they are refreshing. But I would disagree if they will call their music OPM because it's definitely, in a lot of aspects, not. I hope these kids grow and find their own sound.
I remember a DJ from Jam 88.3 saying that there's a lot of bands sending samples to them and it's quite disappointing because they're trying to be local versions of foreign bands. It's okay to take influences, pick up some more material, and then create new. Use them for the transition of your own music.
I disagree. OPM, even at its most early stage, was influenced by foreign music. To say that they are not because of foreign influences is very contradictory if you consider Apo Hiking or Eraserheads OPM because they too were influenced abroad.

The melody is like that coz of folk influence..
That's fine. As long as they continue linking that influence to their future songs.

Each time I hear their sound I can't help but think of Of Monsters and Men. The thought won't go away, but who knows.
Ano ba tunog ng musikang pilipino? Haha

yeah. been listening to rappler live pero she seems disconnected from the bands and music. she's just doing her job that she seems not to like. hahaha
