Performance (and even build quality) of this lens looks very similar to the famous Voigtlander 25mm F0.95 - to be honest, one of my all time favourite lens.
I started to use manual lenses and I found it more fun to take pictures, feels more like I am more involved in the process of taking and make the picture. But sometimes use auto focus lens when I am on go. like more just have the camera with me if something showing up suddenly.
I find it interesting that you mentioned that 20mm was closer to standard. Because when I was a young man in the service I bought my twin sister a Konica 35mm film camera with a 40mm standard lens in the early 1980’s.
Hi Peter....did you shot this lens at F0.95 at Infinity in Raw ? I need to know if it has spherical aberration ( ghosting ) at infinity as I plan to use it in Astrophotography.... in my country it is impossible to rent this kind of lenses... thanks for share.
@Peter Forsgård Do you recall if you turned on in body stabilization when you evaluated this lens? My understanding is that the stated focal length of the lens should be entered in the menu on the body; is that correct?
Thanks for making this video! I am playing around with the TTArtisans 23mm 1.4 more and more as it's simply fun but 1.4 is already TOO THIN of a DOF for me. So, this lens seems a bit overkill. However, there are times when you just need that extra light! I'm glad this lens exist because I have the SLR Magic one and it's not very pretty wide open. I think this one and possibly the newer Mitakon are the nicest ones wide open.
0.95 goes back to Canon in the early 1960s. It is really somewhat of a marketing gimmick. It is kind of like pricing something for 99 cents rather than one dollar.
The more light that can come through a lens, the faster the shutter speed can get....this is kind of how I remember it. Not sure if it's correct but it sounds logical to me.

each time i watch different lensens revies i am proud that i decided for plympus 7-14. 12-40 , 40-150. no need more at this time
I would like to see how it compares against Olympus 25mm f/1.2 especially the DOF performance at their respective max. apertures.
Unfortunately I did not have chance to test it against the 25mm f1.2 lens.

Nice review Peter! Enjoyed your frankness regarding the image quality!
Many thanks!

It does have ghosting full open.
7:28 "...you need to nail the focus." Nice edit. Nicely edited, good looking video. ;-)
Thanks! 👍

I had IBIS on and put the focla length to the menu so that the camera knows the focal length. That way the IBIS works at its best.

Would love such fast prime in 90 or 120mm. For deep space photos. Love that the oly 75mm f1.8 on Pleiades, gets it sharp and clear.
Hello Peter good video ,as always, greetings from Chile!
Many thanks!
Hello Peter, love your videos! However, the lens hood does come off, so you could get a 62mm screw in lens hood of appropriate length.
Really? I was not able to take it off. Maybe I was too afraid to use force. I have send the lens back so cannot test it.
Does it have a hard-stop infinity focus setting?
Unfortunately I do not remember. I do not have the lens anymore. I sent it back right after I had finished the review.
Very interesting lens for my EM1.2. Stop down F4 or F5.6 and zone focus for street then open up for portraits. None click aperture is not good though.
How does it perform for night stairy sky photographing?
Did you notice a green cast in images during your testing? I looked at Jimmy’s review and several of his samples looked like a green bias.
It did not come up on mine. It does not mean that it is not there.
Thank you Peter. JB from 34205usa amateur photographer/motorcyclist for Jesus.
Weird lens hood design, given that e.g. the 33mm does have a detachable hood.

Yes, good point.
AF lens?
Fully Manual.

I have never understood what makes a lens fast? What is a fast lens?
If the aperture number is small > fast lens.
