You just be young. Jay was making hits before Bey hit the scene. Every last one of his albums including the last one went platinum. I’m 43 so I remember him clearly.
He was always a good lyricist but when u get in business contracts they water down your full potential. He can rap his ass off just not in the upscale industry.
Back then it was about being a rap God MC lyricist rap poet and vocab rhymes with tempo flows etc it was forming into an art. Then NWA and LUKE HOT BOYS MASTER P came and broke the masterpiece up ...the way these new rappers is now! they would've got booed and laughed at. they had to move these lyricist out the way to bring in these mumble rappers to shine and pay less. Shit yall listening to is not rapping they dont even have adequate bars and vocabulary to be a rapper on the radio. Lol.

Hey, sorry I'm replying so late. Thats amazing you've seen Beyonce on two tours, I'm so jealous! First of all always film your videos in landscape, they look better and they upload better. I tend to always rest my phone on my little finger when recording so it steadies my hand (I have a fairly steady hand anyway) and then its just the case of getting an arm ache and keeping your arm as still as possible. Enjoy the next concerts you go to:)
