That’s a great idea. Also it not useless. There are tons of things you can use this with. Everything from toys to joints and tools. Well done. I’m going to have to try this.
You prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend recently =)
If nothing else it was worth the entertainment value with a bit of education thrown in. Thanks for sharing Alan. And Happy New Year. I have greatly enjoyed the past years and am looking forward to a great 2020.
Excellent Alan, nothing better than a completely “useless” wood turning. I like doing the same sort of useless items. They are fun to look at ana I like when people can’t figure out how you did it.
Will add 'Price is Inversely Related to Utility' or 'As Utility Increases Price Decreases' to my book of useless woodworkers' sayings. Of course, that book is expensive. Thanks for showing us your clever techniques Alan, They are/have been wonderful to ponder. -Mike
Wow was mesmerized through the video. I think it is a bit beyond my current skills but I am going to go back through and watch your orb turning series. Time to up the skill set. Thank you cannot wait to see the others.
I liked it; sometimes you have to put function aside and revel in the form. I don’t see it as useless. I’m envisioning a plant stand with a ton more class than it’s PVC counterpart. Maple joints with walnut connecting dowls perhaps?
Hi Alan, I will have to watch this video at least another six times to get my head around the process. Fantastic piece of turning. Happy New Year Alan. Cheers, Huw
Watching this video I felt like I was trying to watch someone do a Rubics cube in high speed. I would live to see the drilling and turning in regular speed. This looks lime something dun to try.
@@AsWoodTurns From the look of it, it looked anything but flop, but you know better. It was very briefly on the screen, and it looked really interesting with all the cavities and valleys.

Certainly. go ahead and apply it in new ways. Send me pics.

Madness! I would like to annoy visitors by showing a piece like that and they would have to figure out how it was made. Well done!
Definitely a conversation starter.
Alan
"If it's useless the price must be higher" Love it! Happy New Year!
Have you every seen a cheap art painting?
Alan
@@AsWoodTurns Can't say I have! Did you see the banana taped to a canvas?

That's great, Alan. If you can't have fun and make something useless once in a while, why bother at all? Keep it up.
Definitely a fun piece.

That's okay, I had to attend 3.5 of Max Brosi's demos to really understand what he was doing.

the one that didn't make it to a video? crap, that looks the best by far - I'd have no idea that was turned on a lathe!
Time to repeat the video. :)

Very cool and useful technique! Thank you! Very interesting knowledge for lathe lovers!
You are welcome.

Always start with a sphere and have a couple of plugs available.
It's fun.
