Tony was always the coolest pro to skate with and talk to. Never acted better than anyone else. Always humble. Thank you for everything you have done not only for skateboarding but all the communities you have help bless with skateparks. Thank you
Wow seeing cab brings back a lot of memories. Still pissed about every skate park in Cali closing in a 24hr period. Only about 2 months after cab and I were featured in skateboarder mag. Skating experience paid off later in life. Spent all of my 30's wakeboarding for pro flight towers, origin wakeboards, nice bindings and legends sunglasses. Never thought anyone in skateboarding had a chance of making the kind of $$'s hawk, cab and countless others have made. When will this happen again I have a handful of boards I've accumulated like cabs last signature model. The magazine from our first photo shoot in a frame. Some day I'll have a pool room they are going on the wall of.
Wow man I can’t believe I missed this. Born n raised in Encinitas. So rad that McGills is not only still around, but expanding! They’re like the last ones left... Who remembers RDS and K-5? Great memories
I skateboarded 11 years (94-05). I met these guys at 'The Blocks' in LA. I didn't even know the shop existed until I saw the thumbnail! Great video! =).
Funny. Every skater at that table signed my "Tom groholski" jersey devil vision board. Staab was on vision. They all signed it at Mt trashmore VA Beach. 1987 I think.
For real guys! Is this Heaven on Earth, for us? Those who dreamed of being like these people for decades now. You can feel the love through the lens. Grosso 4ever!
What a wonderful institution let alone a fine skate shop. Go support your local skate shops!! Legends everywhere wish I could have been there but bit tricky from UK! 😅
Still have my first board from about 1984... white and red stripe Steve Steadham Powell Peralta board, I didn't ride it long before replacing it with a Lance Mountain, then Hawk which looked like a surf board. We had a 16 foot wide 9 foot tall half pipe (8 feet transitions with a foot of vert from 1987 - 1993) Also have my old street setup - a G&S Neil Blender mini with trackers and bones wheels.
This was a really cool event. We unfortunately didn’t make it in the shop, but my kids met a few of the skaters out back. But then divergin something really cool: Tony invited about 35 of us who didn’t make it in to his office (he posted about it on Instagram and i replied to it so he DM’d me with an invite). He bought us lunch and put on a demo with some other skaters for about 3 hours. It truly blew our minds!
In the early 90's I lived in huntington and my dad would drive down to McGills skate park which was so incredible. The first time there, Mike was working in the proshop and was the guy the signed my membership card for the park. I learned how to skate very there.
Thank you for sharing this!!! I am 1800 miles away and I would have flown out had I known about this!! So sorry I missed😢, but thanks to YOU I got to see it. Thanks!
I was thinking of driving down there that day from LA. I saw some pics that day online of the long lines. I bet those guys signed a lot of autographs that day. That guy shoulda said Rodney and Tommy G not there ha ha. Thanks for the video.
Canada's a big place. I always wonder why many Canadians don't say where they're from?, they just say "Canada". Like an American commenting on a Canadians page doesn't say "from USA" 😂 we will say from SAN Diego or from Boise Idaho. I dunno I always thought that was super weird cus Canada is a huge place, bigger then the US
Did he used to have a shop off the coast highway in the early '90s? I bought a blank translucent blue deck there. I didn't even realize it was his shop till I recognized him and saw the name on the sign on the way out. Wasn't that shop pretty close to Lous Records?
Used to be on 101 so in the beginning of the video I was like, where is he going? The shop is the other way...but ya I guess they moved...also, loading dock in the back back in the day, had a rail and everything. Nostalgia.
Damn I got my first board at McGills 23 years ago. It was a Jamie Thomas Zero deck. Think it was him hitting a smith down El Toro Y2K. Mike came out and set it up for me and was super nice. Years later I thought back on that day and realized he was being chill but definitely trying to score points on my mom. She was a Dime it’s just facts. All the homies loved coming over to chill when they had was sicker pads too 😂
I must ask the Bones Brigade when you guys did the video and claimed the future of sk8 would be the "art of gliding" 😂 did you think sk8 in general would become so slow 😂 ???
That was bullshit! They left hundreds of fans in line and just left! Waited and drove hours just for them to say oh well, I got shit to do! They screwed a lot of fans that day!
That is a sick black McGill deck. 3:09
I visited and bought some pads at the McGill's Skateshop in New Port Richey Florida. Met his mom there. Nice shop.
💜🙌🏾💯
Powell Peralta locked in some serious brand love from us 80's skaters
us 90s sk8rs too 🤘
Tony was always the coolest pro to skate with and talk to. Never acted better than anyone else. Always humble. Thank you for everything you have done not only for skateboarding but all the communities you have help bless with skateparks. Thank you
I’m 48 and I feel like crying seeing all the old school stuff and the memories 🛹👊💚😭😂
So very cool, thank you. I'm 58 and I love boarding, they are the Kings of Boarding.

Legends everywhere wish I could have been there but bit tricky from UK! 😅
Envy! Thanks for sharing my childhood 😅
Made props Mikey. Dude zoom out just a touch. Counting nosehair and I'm old and blind. SD skate scene is unparalleled
So sick! So many legends in one place. Also good to see Alf and Paul Schmitt.
That thumbnail photo is one for the HISTORY books!! Much Respect 💯💯💯
That's such a banger line up. Staab and cab!
Awesome thank you for sharing 👏
My mom lives in San Diego, so I've gone and bought full setups at McGill's a few times. Always a trip -- cool shop, cool people!

Wow to be there among the legends 😮 so gnarly
