We sang this song last night at our home fellowship group. We were in the home of a beloved sister who is in her final days. She and her husband wanted us there just to hear the singing. She heard us singing this song as we were reminded of God's providential ways that at times grieve us, but are always right. Joy and sorrow filled my heart as our sister is leaving us yet joy knowing she will be with the Savior. His plan for her, and all Christians who are His, is always right. May this song be sung for centuries, should the Lord tarry, and give comfort for those in great sorrow.
Today I received unexpected feedback regarding something I had been waiting on the LORD for. The feedback was quite hard and I had wondered for awhile why the LORD had allowed things to go the way they were going. The feedback cleared the darkness a bit, but it was still hard to receive. As I reflected on it and all else that had transpired, I remembered this hymn and it was as if the Holy Spirit was saying to me, Ruth, haven't you been praying all this while and lifting up this to the LORD? Even though this is hard providence, it is from the LORD'S hand and you can be sure the LORD has been and is still in control of everything that has happened. Not only that, you know and have seen and tasted over and over again that He is faithful, loving, true and just. So just rest and give thanks even in this!! I'm thankful for such theology that is grounded in God's word and His unchanging character in contrast to the prosperity gospel which cannot deem hard providence as coming from the hand of the LORD
My pastor just shared this song with me. I’m old enough to be his mama but yet here I am, encouraged by his wisdom to share this sweet song, full of truth that I already know but my flesh still wars to make me struggle with fear.
And to me, after losing my sweet wife of almost 52 years Jan 14, '23, after her battle with cancer. Precious in His sight when He calls them home.... I KNOW IN WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED, and we all face an appointment with our Blessed Lord Jesus!
I am so grateful that you have new songs. I find such strength in my life singing these hymns. Let me confess my faith - though pain and sorrow are my lot now, to Him I leave it all. Love from India 🇮🇳
We song this hymn in church today . My thoughts for my brother losing his daughter of 36 years old recently and an infant daughter 38 years ago. I pray that he feels God is holding him in his arms today and always.
I've been enjoying this song for about a year. Now it has very special meaning to me with my recent scary medical diagnosis. "And so to Him I leave it all." He gives us feet for the path.
Amen, mine too. God is sovereign. Nothing in the universe happens that God does not allow to happen. My purpose, to live or to die for His glory (by His grace).
Whate’er my God ordains is right, His holy will abideth; I will be still whate’er He does, And follow where He guideth. He is my God, though dark my road; He holds me that I shall not fall; And so to Him I leave it all, And so to Him I leave it all. Whate’er my God ordains is right, He never will deceive me; He leads me by the proper path, I know He will not leave me. I take, content, what He has sent; His hand can turn my griefs away; And patiently I wait His day, And patiently I wait His day. Whate’er my God ordains is right, Though now this cup in drinking May bitter seem to my faint heart, I take it all, unshrinking. My God is true, each morn anew Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart; And pain and sorrow shall depart, And pain and sorrow shall depart. Whate’er my God ordains is right, Here shall my stand be taken; Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet I am not forsaken. My Father’s care is round me there; He holds me that I shall not fall; And so to Him I leave it all, And so to Him I leave it all. Words: Samuel Rodigast (1675), tr. Catherine
Thank you so much for sharing this. The words have touched my heart and soul. The passing of my husband less than a year ago, has brought me even closer to our Sovereign God. 4:09
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalm 23:5 ~ Maybe this isn’t what we’d expect it to be like.

This Hymn is so apropos for our current toxic geo-political environment. May we take these words to heart, knowing our LORD's wisdom in all things.
God is good and He is sovereign 🤍
I am so thankful for the faithfulness Sovereign Grace shows to God's Word in the songs they produce. This is no exception, thank you.

Does anyone know how can I get the sheet music? We translated the song into Serbian, this version is very beautiful. 😊
Look at the description of the video. There's a link there.
With respect, the original author of the words, I believe has the wrong year next to his name
Thanks John, great catch! We've got it updated.
