I'm still amazed all of these videos are free! They're so helpful!
Finally understood side chain and also compression.
Thank you so much! Finally understood the topic, very well explained!
Excellent demonstration!
Awesome. I like sidechain ducking also on groups to make way for the Lead vox without adding the flavor of compression.
Hi Musician on a Mission, do you have a guide for different kind of noise gating/removing/reducing? Like how and when to use a gate vs expander vs remover (Brusfri, iZotope, ERA, etc.)?
used a compressor for over a year, never understood how it worked
i'm going to sleep and i'm finally feeling like i learnt something
can the guy stop telling me to move on with that annoying voice thank you
Great I used to do the opposite in my mix by using side chain compression on the one that is supposed to trigger off the compression but now I get it clear
Great. Thanks
Damn Bro! Your videos are so helpful. Thanks for sharing your brain!
The best explanation I've seen on sidechaining.
Is that Howie Day singing? lol
Thank you so much. This explains a lot. Subbing!
Hey! new video on SC compression on my brand new channel. Go check it!
Why wouldnt you use Noise Gate/Ducker?
This would be excellent used with delay and vocals
Great vid, did watch it all but did also want to move on!
Just a side note (pun intended) if you compress a wet reverb signal it can get quieter, but the tone and decay of it may also seem different/longer etc.
Thanks this was great. I wish I knew this side chain idea earlier. This is a great intro.
Thank you. I've just watched several videos by different RUclipsrs on sidechain compression and yours seems to go best into the "why"s. None of you seem to be touching that Side Chain button over on the right. Do you just use the defaults for that or is that a whole 'nother video?
thanks for your explanation
Patrick sounds like the teachers pet. Did he bring you an apple? KIDDING!!!!!
How to handle the thing when you bounce single tracks for the post mix that receiving sidechain signals? Cause you need to mute the vocals for example while you bounce the sidechain compressed guitars, but then you don’t get the sidechain signal. Maybe via a bus? Or are there any better solutions?
Super vid

God bless you man
Great tutorial. 👍
Very informative, Thank you so much
Please : Que nivel ideal de estructura de ganancia en dBFS en cuanto a nivel saludable debe entrar al mix buss a la cadena de plugins puesto que allí se suman todas las señales?. Gracias.
Excellent Video
I never knew this technique before,Thanks much
I noticed it also adds a bit of a rhythmic quality to the whole song! Very cool.
Cool!
Thank you for the vocal mixing cheat sheet! When using a vocal thickening trick with vocal doubler, does it mean you don't need to record the lead twice anymore as a double? :o)
In my opinion your always gonna get better result with a doubled track . Even 2 extra with them panned right and left but not all the way . I like to keep a little information in the other speaker. Having the vocal come out of more places just makes it that much wider. Of course your Lead Vox panned center .A good trick I use for adding doubles is too take yourself out of the headphones. Just leave the one your'e trying to copying the headphones. Loop it sing it over and over for a few minutes . When you finally record them leave the monitoring the same. Just the main vocal your copying in the headphones. Your timing will be so much better not hearing the two but hearing the main and FEELING the double .If you need to hear what your singing a little just slide one side of your headphones back a little off one ear. I was blown away how good this works.
Thanks man!

I've mixed songs with vocals that were recording in a pro studio using the Apollo Twin and the mix was on the same level as billboard songs. But when use the same exact same vocal chain at home with the Scarlett Solo and blue blue bird mic the vocals never really fit in the mix good. The vocals sound thin and i have to drown it with reverb to get it to sound good. I don't understand the good gear doesn't matter saying. Yes i agree its more about the ear less about the gear but it seems that there's a certain point where you hit cap on how good you can get budget gear to sound. Whats yalls take on this?
For vocals gear matters a lot in my experience.
First!
I couldn't get through the vid because the example tune is so terrible.
Yes first world problems.
