Elvis never tells if he is sick or hurt, he wants no excuses. He's a true athlete and a master on the ice. God bless him!

This type of routine suits him best. Sharp and fast.

In fact, this is the ONLY type of routine that suits him. One of the least versatile skaters.

This was a great performance and the top three guys skated so well. I think you could make a case for any of the top three to have won the short program, but I think I would have ranked it as Elvis, Todd then Ilia. All three did the same jumping passes and did them very well. The edge that Elvis and Todd had over Ilia were the spins and footwork.

I absolutely agree with your assessment of the placements.

I loved Elvis's music selections. If there had been a song that simply repeated the lyrics "I'm straight, I'm straight, I'm masculine, I'm masculine," he would have skated to it. A bit over the top obviously, and he lacked diversity in style, but he was consistent.

The short program results here were a mess. It should have been:
    1) Stojko
    2) Eldredge
    3) Kulik
I think that this Olympics was an example of the Russian Skating Federation using their influence to determine the medal outcomes. Thank goodness it all came to light in 2002.

1970s to 2002, beautiful figure skating eras and performances, but disgraceful, corrupt judging.

Even that doesn’t matter the final standing won’t change, kulik first stojko second and candeloro third as I don’t think the long standings were wrong, elvis was probably weaker artistically than most of the top athletes and Todd skated pretty bad that day

Meanwhile judges often grade skaters elvis just beaten by illia in Grand Prix so that’s why he’s first

Scott's insecurity with femininity by over focusing on masculinity and over emphasizing strength riding a dirt bike is so so funny.

Yeah, but Ilia had a MAJOR edge over Elvis and Todd when it came to sex appeal and a killer ass.
