timecode is especially important in professional editing settings. I remember having to edit a news story with specific timecode cuts when I was in Broadcast College.
Damn first one to comment wohoooooooo. Yeah! I was kinda slow for that giveaway . I hope next time i will be in it. You are awesome. Your contents and knowledge you provide gives us lots of valuable stuff. thank you all and happy new year to you and your team.
Glad I watched till the end. It seem like if I already have pluralize and an R5 there would really be no point of getting a tentacle sync because Pluralize basically does the exact same thing but without the extra hardware...
Great video! Question - can you use the Zoom F6 (or other recorders) to set the TC on the TRACK E? I'm currently jamming TC on my C500mk2/C70 combo but want to add a couple of Track E to my kit and use my MixPre 10 II to set the timecode (so I don't have to buy the SYNC E).
Can you sync TC with Tentacle when shooting at 120 FPS (say, on C300iii or C70)? Do both cams have to be shooting the same frame rate? Or is this irrelevant since it’s really just measuring real time?
Curious, I know for this video you’re syncing everything as examples but in your studio use case, isn’t it easiest to just run your shotgun mic directly into your c300? Looking forward to the tentacle recorder review!
I did that for a while. But a) the zoom has slightly better pre amps. b) It takes roughly as much time setting up the time code as it does to set the audio levels proper for the video. Since I don't have to do this with 32 bit float, I'm choosing this option. It also has another reason which is more complicated to explain :D
@@damiencooper got it! I’m interested in 32 but float for that reason and the tentacle recorder, but the lack of monitoring (I’m in USA) in our version makes me nervous. Mostly for this times where the mic could be rubbing on clothing or something and I wouldn’t know until getting home or after the shoot.
@@damiencooper thanks! they would have sold more of these if they had made that clear. I thought I needed 1 for each of the 4 BM pockets that I own. Thank you Sir!!
Congrats to everyone winning a prize!
Ironically, I just heard about time code for the first time this week. Now this video pops up explaining to me what it is, perfect
Time code is the only way to go. Used it for decades.
OK i didn’t win a prize but learned a lot in this video. You answered the questions i always had about TC. Thanks!

Oh yeah. It’s irreplaceable for broadcast and news

not really as PE syncs via audio. If it can't read the audio track or there just is none, it's not possible...
Perfect explanation, thank you for making this!
thanks for commenting :)
Happy New Year! ✨
ah ha! found it... You are da man!
God I’m an idiot! How did I miss the announcement?! Thanks Damien!
My d00d, your iphone app icons are grouped by color! By color!!! Legend. Show us what apps you have installed.

OK so I watched the video a little longer and I guess just a BNC to 3.5mm would work from audio recorder?
Hope they improve the pc version of their app. Heard it unsuable on pc. I was about to pull the trigger on that product.
oh really? Wouldn't know

Do you have only one unit or you bought the dual? I have the zoom f6 and I did not know you could generate a timecode with the zoom f6
Unit of what? I have one F6, two Track Es and two Sync Es
Perfect explatio and love it @ig.deep007
do you need a tenticle sync for each camera?
Only for the once without Timecode support. That being said. Having one for each is always the safe option

@@bmefilms6879 like I said. That’s always the safe route. Devices tent to drift off after a while 😉
@@damiencooper ok appreciate it!
