great material. Kirkham has now undergone a scheme called 'Kirkham Futures' - where they have narrowed the road, abolished the fish stones car park and widened the pavement. It seems to have been a disaster for small businesses, many have since closed. This video appears to have been made before the scheme commenced.
Being new to the area, but totally familiar with everything you presented; I really loved it! The area is so manageable to get around. What some might not readily see is that the area feels pleasant ❤I'm looking forward to doing some of the walks!
The building just before Kirkham being renovated was a swimming baths, my Auntie lived on that council estate behind the fire and ambulance station, I spent many a happy holiday there when my Mum and Dad used to pack me off there to get some peace. RIP Auntie Marion I miss you.
@@mikebryan7060 I think it is earmarked for demolition. They have wasted millions on the pedestrianisation scheme which has made the roads a bottle neck (presumably the idea).
That church that had the scaffolding around it that you said that they were trying to make into some flats… Used to be the old Kirkham baths years ago in the 70s
My best friend is from Kirkham, but lives here in the U.S., now. Thank you for sharing this, so I could see where he's from. I love your unscripted, unpolished style! It's far more "real" than most travel blogs, and feels more personal. Don't change that!
What a lovely area! I've only been past on the train, so not seen it's obvious beauty. I look forward to seeing Kirkham and Wesham part 2! Thanks for a great video!
I was impressed by AFC Fyldes stadium. In comparison to some stadiums currently in the EFL that deserves to grace league football. Keep up the good work sir.
I used to go to Diocese meetings in Kirkham. Never considered it connected to Wesham in those days. Stephen, go to Thornton. It's a lovely village and go down past Stanah to the Riverside. A really nice walk.
Of all the ambulance stations on the Fylde, Wesham is my favourite. No stress, no hassle, and when Blackpool opens up then everybody moves into it leaving all the satellite stations unloved. 😪
Hi there Stephen ,the NHS building on the market square is a doctors and was originally a manor house. It is absolutely massive inside. The Chinese restaurant used to be a pub up til about 20 yrs ago . Great film of a town I know really well.

That housing estate is just a clone of thousands up and down the UK. Small gardens and occupying ground that was used , years ago , to grow food. These houses are only supported by the cheap money policies of government since 2009. If there is a recession then those houses will have seriously negative equity. Still, your tours are very interesting. Thanks
I have just been informed that My family actually originated in this town on my dads side. Before our family packed up and moved to the united states a long time agi
Great walkabout nice to see different place. Be careful adding many mods although you get busy RUclips limits your play list cause it thinks you get trouble on your channel if you need a lot of mods
I think somebody gave you some bad information. RUclips doesn't punish channels for having too many mods. They are more likely to punish a channel that doesn't moderate comments or messages that are against their terms of service.

Hello, fellow video watcher.
Worked for a week in the old Coop in Kirkham when it was closing down in the 80s.Think from memory it was the Red Rose Carpets shop.

I haven't seen the Fox;'s biscuit factory since I worked there for a year in 1968 - thanks for the memory!

Great video as always Stephen, never been before but passed through it many times on the train to Blackpool North.
The building with the scaffolding on is the Kirkham baths which has been shut because the roof blew off

Really not sure, maybe I am wrong but I always thought it was a pub previously

Glad you enjoyed it
