  • This is the revision and combination of all time Spline FFDs (Spline Deformers) that can be found over the internet, for 3dsmax.
The script will be the part of the new rapidTools toolset, that will be available in the next few month.
Notice that the script is in beta phase, so it's still not available.
    Features:
    - automatic spline generation on loop,
    - soft selection support,
    - segment or spline vertex distribution,
    - simple or advanced mode (keep the original vertex distance or make them even) or interpolate between them,
    - store data for later modification (if the topology/vertex order doesn't change),
    - reset spline and reset mesh,
    - modifier support (Edit Poly, Shell, Relax, etc...), if you keep the base Editable Poly unchanged,
    - works only on Editable Poly objects.

This is an amazing tool i've been dreaming of for years. I have been doing this manually; creating a spline that lines up in all views with the vertices I want to adjust, adjusting the shape of the spline then snapping vertices to the spline. The whole reason i'd do this was to maintain the continuity i'd already established in the mesh. Patches would allow me to do this but they are very unwieldy and not intuitive. With this tool I can do this much faster.

This is one the top ones I'll be using from your set; this is awesome. Despite that, I find it tragic that it can't work with poly strips too, though I know as it is it's pretty darn useful. Maybe by some voodoo magic of yours make it so that it averages a point between all verts of a face, and thus enable the script to create a spline from a strip of polygon faces. I'm sounding ridiculous and I'm sorry; anyway, thanks again for sharing Gabor, your rapidTools are awesome.

    Looking Awesome ^^
We made same stuff for Blender 3D (Mira tools), very useful )
What programming language it was written? Maxscript?

Yes its been written in maxscript.
As I see Blender is rapidly extending with more and more powerful tools, that is really a good thing.
Anyway what is the language that Blender uses? Do You writing scripts or native stuffs onto Blenders API/SDK?

At 0:07 I do not understand why you move the cursor so fast and choose, *"V-Ray scene converter"* even when I slow the video down it makes sense of what you are choosing in the menu. Why does it have to be so fast?

I'm using hotkeys most of the time. All my scripts are based on this. So if you want to use it, just select the loop and press the hotkey, or choose it from the rapidTools menu. (for hotkey, check customize --> category rapidtools --> rapidSplineFFD)

Edit Patch modify the same does

      @pi3c3com  8 лет назад +1

That's not true. Edit Patch is edit patch. This one makes possible to modify existing editable poly object loops without converting them to anything. This script simply puts a spline on an edge loop and with that loop you can control your loops smoothly and easily...

using Bezier vertex move, and it turns out not worse than the script

    • @pi3c3com

But edit patch doesn't let you modify your existing loops on complex models for example... So this tool is total different. The loop you want to modify doesn't even have to be a proper loop, all it needs is that islt has to be consistent...

I have now realized that this script is very steep
