  • Hypersonic flight is the next big leap in aviation, offering speeds faster than the speed of sound and leaving no trace behind other than a loud bang. Imagine cutting a flight from New York to London down to just ninety minutes! While companies like Hermeus are pushing the boundaries of what's possible, in a surprising twist Elon Musk’s SpaceX is rumored to be working on a top-secret project that could revolutionize hypersonic travel. With Musk's track record of turning ambitious ideas into reality, could his latest venture be the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for? What does this mean for the future of air travel and global connectivity?

The big achievement will be when a commercial airplane can climb over the earth atmosphere, then without the resistance of the air, there will be almost no speed limit. SR.71 climbed once by mistake over the atmosphere, it was for a brief moment and it could return to earth safely in spite of the extreme heat of the atmosphere reentry. Maybe it will happen in fifty years or so.

The math stats in this video don't support his allegations. First, speed of sound is roughly 761 mph. Second, hypersonic should be at least 5 times the speed of sound. If you do simple math, hypersonic speeds start at around 3805 mph. In 90 min. you should be able to travel a distance of around 5707 miles. I would say that at hypersonic speeds over match 5 you will reach London in a little over 45 minutes. So maybe close but not hypersonic.
