You got me interested and WOW yes this foundation is absolutely flawless! (I think I wore it many years ago and forgot about it!) Just purchased it and have been wearing it for a week. I love using this powder foundation over my tinted sunscreen. I have mature skin so I just use a light sweep of it. Super easy to work with and it’s true you can use cream blush over it. It’s great for acne prone skin too!!

Would it work to have one of the powder foundations for your face and then another one in a lighter color for under the eyes? Your skin is incredible even without makeup. I totally agree with your review. I will always keep this product on hand. The purepressed powder is my favorite foundation for the summer when it is humid outside. I have dry, sensitive skin, but this powder never looks cakey or catches on dry patches. My sensitive skin loves it, and the powder photographs beautifully. No flashback. A bridal makeup artist I know uses it exclusively for her clients, and she told me about it a decade ago. I stock three shades for myself for use throughout the year. I’m in my mid 40s, and this powder works as well on my maturing skin now as it did in my 30s. I also love it as a setting powder over Armani Luminous Silk foundation (I also like Hourglass veil for setting). They play well together, especially for photos. I know everyone raves about the Charlotte Tilbury airbrush powder, which I also have, but the Jane Iredale powder is sooooo much better. I love this product. I’ve set with MAC Fix+, CT setting spray, and a few other products.
I'm 52 with normal to dry skin and I love using this powder as a setting powder. I apply it with a fluffy brush. Love it! It actually looks pretty sheer on me, because of the type of brush I use I'm thinking.
I use the Jane Iredale mineral foundation and I love it. What I like about it is how natural my face looks only better. I can't tell that I have makeup on. I am over 65 so with a good moisturizer and then the mineral powder foundation. It looks good after hours of wearing it.
I can't afford the mineral compact so if you know where I can get it besides Ebay for a resonable price that would be great. I use the shake out kind which is hard to get enough product.

Me too. I am 53 and it still looks great on me. I don't do anything special to my skin. I use a makeup eraser and a muslin cloth. I never use cleansers on my skin. I will use my face oil as a cleanser if I need to. I just bought another JI magic mitt since I lost my old one (I have had several over the years). I use rose water & tallow on my skin and nothing else. I don't get it when people say they hate it. I don't use a primer so it does not last ALL day but it lasts pretty well. If I put it on in the morning, there is always some left on my cloth by the time I wash it off. And I agree, it makes my skin look amazing and whenever I have it on, people tell me they can't believe my skin is so flawless without makeup. They can't tell I have anything on. (I do usually use rosewater as a sprites after applying). Wore it to the beach 2 weeks ago and was there all day and swam in the ocean (head completely under) and one application kept me from getting a sunburn on my face. *I just got the rephr 24 brush during their BOGO sale. Super excited to try it with this! -)

Mandy, this is such a thorough review! I am 59 with rosacea and I wore the Jane Pressed base when I was in my 40’s and it really agreed with my skin! I have recently had laser and I am going back to the non-irritating products that worked for me in the past. A local day spa matched me in the loose base, but it is more glowy than what I’m used to. I am Amber in the loose base and Golden Glow in the pressed. It’s interesting that the pressed is lighter, so I had to go up one shade. The makeup artist at the spa said that I wouldn’t like the pressed, but I think it’s great! Very natural, not cakey and doesn’t feel like I have anything on my face! I will use the loose as well, but I was wondering if Jane’s matte finishing powder would help take down the glow. I see that there is a loose version and a pressed. Please let me know if you think one of these would be good for me. I am normal this time of year with a little t-zone shine toward the end of the day. I enjoy your reviews because you’re so knowledgeable about the product line! Thank you!
Yes, the loose is much more pigmented so it appears darker due to that. So, I do recommend going down a shade in the loose for sure. The pressed matte powder is SUPER matte and stays matte all day....doesn't do well with touch ups. It becomes too cakey. But the loose can be touched up throughout the day. They are both great. I use the pressed to set my eye lid primer every day.
Is the brighten or illuminating glow primers silicony? I don't like silicony primers... Only ones that feel like lotion and sink into the skin like skincare.
The Illuminating is more of a lotion consistency and I find the brightening one that I used to be more of a serum consistency. Neither one is like the super thick silicone primers like Smashbox though. :)
I have a 46 year old oil tanker skin (yes my glasses literally slides off my nose on a muggy day). Interestingly as I am getting older I seem to be reaching more and more towards mineral powder foundations. My HG is Pur 4 in 1 powder foundation . The best part about this foundation is that once I spray it with Mac fix plus it looks like my skin but better. Xx

I have just started using Jane Iredale....absolutely love it!! The hardest part is finding a store that carries it so you can receive a good color match. Some stores/spas carry it, but not the entire collection. Any hints for getting a good match?

The Liquid Minerals is also one of my all time favs! Have a question about the Purepressed: If I didn't want to use the JI primer or any primer, would it apply as well as with the primer? Should I then go with the foundation right after my skincare, or if some time has passed since applying skincare, would it be recommended to just put some moisturizer before foundation?
If you are applying it after liquid minerals, you are good to go. The LM will act as a primer of sorts. If you are applying it alone, it works great right after skincare without a primer. If you wait a while after skincare, I would either add more SPF right before or use a primer. :)
Great video Mandy! I am oily in the tzone and I live in Florida (humidity!). Under the Pure Pressed I love the liquid minerals in winter when it's a bit dryer, but in spring/summer it gets a bit too luminous on me. How is the JI Dream Tint tinted moisturizer? Does it have a less dewy finish? Thank you! You look beautiful as always.
I know this video is older, but hoping you can help. I’ve recently been using the zo sunscreen + primer. I love how it blurs my pores, but I feel like it can make the powder look dry and not really sink into the skin. I’m usually an oily girl, but with age I’m getting a tiny bit more dry. Would you recommend adding one of the primers to my routine? Will it mess up my sunscreen? Or should I try a different sunscreen all together (I’m acne prone)
Hi there! Sorry for the late response. I think you would benefit for the illuminating primer that jane carries. It works beautifully with this foundation.
So if you have red skin with pores, you get polka dot pores, even with pore primers because of the skin color. Would you recommend the powder or liquid foundation from Jane Iredale for that skin. The Chanticaille Cushion is the only magic foundation I hav e found for covering pores and color there without looking horrible. But, it’s pricey and I don’t want to use it to run to the store…. Drugstore stuff is out for me, it all seems to emphasize something bad on my skin. Thank you.
I wanted to love this powder foundation to replace my Shu Uemura Lightbulb Compact Powder Foundation which blurs and smooths but it was discontinued (it was my holy grail, as they say), however, Jane Iredale just didn’t perform. My pores and fine lines are more visible than when I don’t wear powder. Wanted to love this!😢
I think it depends on the look you are going for. If you want super full coverage, I would use both. If you want something more medium and natural, I would just use the powder.
I watch your videos often. When I went back into the archive, you once sang the praises of the Chantecaille powder foundation and ranked it higher than the Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base. Hi there! I started using the jane iredale more since making that initial video years ago and it has grown on me so much. I still love the Chantecaille and think it's an amazing powder foundation (use it often). And it would be hard to pick one over the other, but for the price, you can't beat the jane iredale.
Are you still working for JI? I’ve been using these products for 20+ years- I love Liquid Minerals & Pure Pressed Base! Just curious about these new cases/compacts- are they necessary? I have several of the traditional silver round compacts for my Pure Pressed Base- are these new white square ones better? Different? Will my silver round ones still work? I’m so curious about the new blushes too! Are they better than my round gold JI blushes? And I love the Flawless on you!!!! One of my favorites!! And one last thing- can you get JI to bring back the old lip glosses in Iced Mocha and the Peach one? I miss them!!!!
I work part time when they need me for events, but I am not full time anymore. You can definitely still use your old compacts if you wish. They will fit the refills still. The new blushes aren't any better, but they are very good too! They tweaked the formula just a bit, but didn't compromise anything I love about the blush. I wish they would bring those back, but they are sticking with their new colors for right now. :(
Wahoo! I love your Jane Iredale videos and I love her Pure Pressed Base - I have 2 different compacts for the change of seasons. I do like this over the Liquid Minerals, too. Are the blushes a new formula? 💖
People think you have filters Mandy because your bare skin is beautiful ! It’s down to you that I use all Jane Iredale, primer, liquid minerals , amazing base, concealer, the whole bag ! I wouldn’t want to use anything else. The only thing I haven’t tried is the mascara because I have a problem with smudging , do Jane’s smudge , have you found ?

I have found out about this powder through your videos... I am 49 years young... normal to dry skin... if I use primer, I use Smooth Affair Primer before the base... I always use Pommist after... it is easy to use this base, very fast to apply and I like it a lot... it covers my redness but not all the hyperpigmentation spots... I don't care about that... it is enough for me....

Warm Silk would definitely work for that.
Warm Sienna is also a great choice. That is one step down from Golden Glow.

I have just started using Jane Iredale....absolutely love it!! The hardest part is finding a store that carries it so you can receive a good color match. Some stores/spas carry it, but not the entire collection. Any hints for getting a good match?

The Liquid Minerals is also one of my all time favs! Have a question about the Purepressed: If I didn't want to use the JI primer or any primer, would it apply as well as with the primer? Should I then go with the foundation right after my skincare, or if some time has passed since applying skincare, would it be recommended to just put some moisturizer before foundation?
If you are applying it after liquid minerals, you are good to go. The LM will act as a primer of sorts. If you are applying it alone, it works great right after skincare without a primer. If you wait a while after skincare, I would either add more SPF right before or use a primer. :)

Great video Mandy! I am oily in the tzone and I live in Florida (humidity!). Under the Pure Pressed I love the liquid minerals in winter when it's a bit dryer, but in spring/summer it gets a bit too luminous on me. How is the JI Dream Tint tinted moisturizer? Does it have a less dewy finish? Thank you! You look beautiful as always.
Hey Terri! I do find the tinted moisturizer to be a little less dewy than the liquid minerals, so it may work out for you better in the summer. :)

Yes, I find that you can build this up to a full coverage.
I know this video is older, but hoping you can help. I’ve recently been using the zo sunscreen + primer. I love how it blurs my pores, but I feel like it can make the powder look dry and not really sink into the skin. I’m usually an oily girl, but with age I’m getting a tiny bit more dry. Would you recommend adding one of the primers to my routine? Will it mess up my sunscreen? Or should I try a different sunscreen all together (I’m acne prone)

They would both be great. The main difference is the finish. The Amazing Base has a tad more coverage and is more luminous than the purepressed.
I'm not sure if I missed it- but what color are you using? I'm using their color chart & nervy about pulling the trigger. I'm lt-med neutral(??).

So if you have red skin with pores, you get polka dot pores, even with pore primers because of the skin color. Would you recommend the powder or liquid foundation from Jane Iredale for that skin. The Chanticaille Cushion is the only magic foundation I hav e found for covering pores and color there without looking horrible. But, it’s pricey and I don’t want to use it to run to the store…. Drugstore stuff is out for me, it all seems to emphasize something bad on my skin. Thank you.

I wanted to love this powder foundation to replace my Shu Uemura Lightbulb Compact Powder Foundation which blurs and smooths but it was discontinued (it was my holy grail, as they say), however, Jane Iredale just didn’t perform. My pores and fine lines are more visible than when I don’t wear powder. Wanted to love this!😢

I think it depends on the look you are going for. If you want super full coverage, I would use both. If you want something more medium and natural, I would just use the powder.

It's so good! I haven't used it wet...it works so well for me as is.

Yes, after SPF. I use SPF as the last step in my skincare routine, and primer (If I use one) as the first step in my makeup routine. :)
I watch your videos often. When I went back into the archive, you once sang the praises of the Chantecaille powder foundation and ranked it higher than the Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base. Hi there! I started using the jane iredale more since making that initial video years ago and it has grown on me so much. I still love the Chantecaille and think it's an amazing powder foundation (use it often). And it would be hard to pick one over the other, but for the price, you can't beat the jane iredale.
Are you still working for JI? I’ve been using these products for 20+ years- I love Liquid Minerals & Pure Pressed Base! Just curious about these new cases/compacts- are they necessary? I have several of the traditional silver round compacts for my Pure Pressed Base- are these new white square ones better? Different? Will my silver round ones still work? I’m so curious about the new blushes too! Are they better than my round gold JI blushes? And I love the Flawless on you!!!! One of my favorites!!
And one last thing- can you get JI to bring back the old lip glosses in Iced Mocha and the Peach one? I miss them!!!!
My honest opinion is no 😂 I think the one with butterflies 🦋 on it is my favorite 😍 it’s just updating the look like most brands do time you time.
I work part time when they need me for events, but I am not full time anymore. You can definitely still use your old compacts if you wish. They will fit the refills still. The new blushes aren't any better, but they are very good too! They tweaked the formula just a bit, but didn't compromise anything I love about the blush. I wish they would bring those back, but they are sticking with their new colors for right now. :(
Wahoo! I love your Jane Iredale videos and I love her Pure Pressed Base - I have 2 different compacts for the change of seasons. I do like this over the Liquid Minerals, too. Are the blushes a new formula? 💖

People think you have filters Mandy because your bare skin is beautiful ! It’s down to you that I use all Jane Iredale, primer, liquid minerals , amazing base, concealer, the whole bag ! I wouldn’t want to use anything else. The only thing I haven’t tried is the mascara because I have a problem with smudging , do Jane’s smudge , have you found ?

I have found out about this powder through your videos... I am 49 years young... normal to dry skin... if I use primer, I use Smooth Affair Primer before the base... I always use Pommist after... it is easy to use this base, very fast to apply and I like it a lot... it covers my redness but not all the hyperpigmentation spots... I don't care about that... it is enough for me....
