The reason Canada was selling it at a discount is because there was no tariffs on the oil. They were selling it to US refineries and undercutting the price that US oil producers sell to refineries. We don't need Canadian tar oil. It's not a very desirable oil. Refineries figured out they could mix 10% of the tar oil with 90% normal crude and make a higher profit. I don't see China or anybody buying this tar oil because it is costly to refine. Then you have the cost of transporting it around the world.

As a Canadian, I truly would prefer if our oil and gas was instead going to our friends in Europe to help them against Russia, and Japan/rest of the civilized world before China. I never ever thought that we would be betrayed by America the way we have, and see China as the lesser of two evils. As an American I'm happy to see Canada stand up against the Cheeto man. It sucks that those of us that don't support him, I'm in MN so we're a blue state and Canada is our neighbor, have to deal with the repercussions of what that moron does, but II like seeing people stand up against him and show him he can't just bully people into doing what he wants like a dictator. He needs to learn and quickly that all he's doing is making everything worse, if he doesn't learn then hopefully his followers will wake up and turn on him once they realize their lives are worse because of him.
