Angelina was signed to REPUBLIC RECORDS back in 2020 at age 14. she has been working with them for the last 3 years, BUT, because she was still in school her parents didnt want her recording full time until she was finished with high school. she is done now and Angelina will be releasing a full studio album later this year. REPUBLIC RECORDS said they were going to do whatever they needed to do to get Angelina on the radio. we all hope to see next years GRAMMY AWARDS nominees and see Angelinas name listed for different awards, hopefully best new artist for sure, but also some more. BUT, with the grammy awards we all have seen how people we have never heard of and people who are way less deserving win awards. its very frustrating.
I find Angelina’s vocal dexterity to be unparalleled by anyone. (Other singers can do vocal impressions of other singers, but Angelina’s other capabilities far exceed what I have heard from anyone else.)

At first I felt the same that it sounded very similar. If you listen to them back to back, I do find Angelina’s voice richer with more texture and there are other differences as well. I think I can keep them apart without fail every time now :-) She sang all the vocals and did all the production work as well. I do prefer her covers with bigger differences as well. If you want a cover that is very different from the original, you could react to Billie Jean which she redid in a jazzy lounge version :-)
Yeah the voice is fairly similar. I wouldn't have guessed. Duffy seems bad ass. But yeah for Angelina this is right in one of her main wheelhouses. She sings like that fairly often really. She's scary versatile, but that style is as common as any probably for her.

I love this particular voice of hers..she’s definitely channeling Duffy but not mimicking as always she adds so much more..think of it using the original artist as the foundation for her musical embellishments which are totally appropriate..her musicality is if the scale imo.

I'm not a big fan of the production on the studio version of this song; Angelina's vocals could stand on their own without the radical EQ and (possibly) added distortion effect. Of course, in a situation like this, Angelina is sort of at the "Mercy" of the producer. I like the live version better. Angelina, like most great musicians, is a great mimic, but I feel like the similarity you hear between her and Duffy is more a matter of the arrangement plus some commonalities in the timbres of their voices.
