Within the winter soldier movie alone we are told that he has a brutal backstory. He trusted someone, and it cost him his eye, he pulled up to SHIELD hq after an assasination attempt on his life, to get the job done. He was always an integral and important part in the MCU and it's movies. In this movie, he's literally Captain Marvel's bitch. He takes orders from her all the time, (she constantly belittles him like when he questions her and she says "you've finally asked the right question" and even tells him to fuck off later on in the movie and help her friends daughter with bringing her stuff). That wouldn't be a problem, even on Captain Marvel's part herself but more on how passive they made Fury. Throughout the film he acts as the comedic relief without any real scenes that might show him as the truely bad motherfucker he is later on. But the worst part, a fucking cat (im sorry an Alien) clawed his eye I'm fucking sorry what?! A CAT?! Wow gee haha really funny (it's not even funny since in the movie Fury doesnt really care so what was the point of the scar? to subvert expectations) I have an idea, lets have goose claw thanos's neck in the sequal, I know its anti-climactic but its really funny! Here's an actual good idea, have the cat nearly claw his eye and have him be like "wow that was close, thank god i still have my eye" and then wrap the scene. We didn't need to see how he lost it if they didn't put any real fucking effort in the scene. Ah but i must be a minority on the issue, no one else really seems to care about his eye apparently and if i have a problem with the movie it's bc of some millionares stupid ass polotics.
