so we make 67thousand a year we was at 35thousand my husband got a good job would u say we are ready by end of the yar
Yesterday I PAID OFF my Mortgage. Oh man that feeling I got when leaving the Bank was soo amazing...0 debts now. Thanks Lord for all your blessing!
U live in US? Indian-american?
Great job!
That's fantastic....congratulations!
@@hiteshadhikari I'm from India living in Central America. Panama and you?
@@kunalsab7805 an indian living in India, best tip, avoid credit cards and any loans.
Even better tip, stay Indian with money and now u will never have debt
I love it when he asks when the wedding date is. Usually people engaged have an idea.
Most people waffle at that one. Haha
@Brian Waller It's for the benefit of the child. Once you have a kid, you aren't supposed to just think about yourself anymore.
@Brian Waller marry the right person and a team player. millions of men and women around the world have been marrying and succeeding.
Brian Waller Being married is not a financial stock investment....
michael weyenberg which is why I never plan on having kids.
I can hear the beginning and the end of her laugh, smoker's laugh. Quit smoking and win even more with money, your health, and your family's health as well.
Julie Mortenson thought the same!! Im not the only one hearing it. Lol
Lol it was me too!
Oh gosh that’s sooo true... it’s so cringeworthy too! I feel like she’s about to get into a coughing fit
Thought so as well, she needs to quit smoking.
She is smart to call and ask for advice. Kudos to her.
She's happy to be engaged😄. Go ahead and finish the deal Roxie, get married.💏
A lot of snobs in these comments. ALL people can benefit from Dave's advice, not just snarky rich kids who ran up debt on stuff they bought just to impress their neighbors.
I just paid off my students loans. 10k. I love that I'm done, finally.
Congrats!
Awesome!
Right on Jay! All the best!
I have 10K in student loans myself.. if you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take you?
Whew I need to pay mine off and be done
First money-saving step? Give up the cigarettes!
That's about $3000 a year savings right there...
timmd909 shoot more then that. Depending on where you live, How many smoke per day, cost per pack. Speaking from experience in my ex smoker life.
She could have a cold. I hope
And not have children
She sound like she smoke a 10 pack a day
Dylan Yates right? 😂 she gave me so much procrastination anxiety
And is about 300 lbs
ikr? I hope she has stopped with the baby.
Smoking mountain dew and drinking cigarettes. Lol.
@@NotQuiteEpic I laughed loudly at this! You're so bad!
I agree with Dave on the importance of being married before buying a home together BUT I don't like how he assumes everyone should go from boyfriend to husband immediately. People are allowed to be engaged.
They conceived a child together over a year ago. Over a year ago they decided to commit to having a child together (an 18 year commitment), if it’s already been a year, it’s time for them to just get married already.
@@mle011 that still doesn't mean they aren't allowed a period of engagement.
P W just don’t buy a house in that period of time :)
Not everyone needs to hurry to buy a house. It depends entirely on your situation whether or not it's a good idea.
where i live its ALWAYS a good idea. rent prices keep going up. the apartment i wanted closest to my job (40 mins away) is up for rent at 1900ish while a mortgage in the same location is 1700ish. If i wanted to live within 15 minutes of my job i cant afford rent. An apartment goes easily for 4-5K not including utilities.
@@Vera-dg3hf I know someone in NYC who makes over $100,000/yr and cannot afford a decent rental. She lives in Jersey for the rent and commutes twice/wk. Once experienced enough, she'll move elsewhere in the country to maximize her investment potential.
I live California the Central Valley but in the hood, my rent is $500 a month. My apartment complex is gated so I don’t mind. Been living here 10 years nothing has happen so far but saving money is really easy on a RN salary.
icedoutelite
Yes u got very lucky!
I’m living in the ghetto part of Long Beach & paying $1,100 for a converted garage that is now a studio apartment.
Ballsy Bunny Saying it’s best for someone to buy instead of rent by just comparing the rent vs. mortgage payment is shortsighted. You’re not looking at the bigger picture. If you don’t have enough for at least a 10-20% downpayment along with a 3-6 month emergency fund and a mortgage payment that’s no more than 25% of your take home pay, no, it’s not better to buy than rent. You’d be getting into a home you’re financially unprepared for and this isn’t even discussing all the property taxes, maintenance, insurance, etc!
*A huge emergency fund should be a priority before a house!*
Exactly, with a baby!!!!! Wow!!!!!
Courthouse wedding 40 bucks
NICU Grad $60 in nyc lol I went that route!!
No wedding, just tell people you're married, FREE
Courthouse wedding was $140 in CA! For license & fees.
@@Mag1c4lyfe that's what my husband and I did!😄😄
SAMESIES. Had a ceremony in our favorite dive bar. Done and done. And happy.
Thanks Dave for your sermon at Celebration you did a phenomenal job and everyone was on pins and needles hanging on every word!
old man wisdom is the best ❤ Thank you so much for continuing this . love from Malaysia 😂
They have a great life together if they listen.
I started following Dave 2.5yrs ago.
It’s the best decision I ever made.
My partner and I make 90k a year and we still don’t feel ready to buy a house… in Texas lol
*GREAT VIDEO DAVE* | Buying a Home is a GREAT IDEA if you are READY! Buying a home with somebody you are not married can result in financial issues down the road | you have to work TOGETHER on your finances to win! Great video! 👍🏻😎
Amen
I would agree. My husband and I would not be in the same position if we didn't have the commitment of marriage. I truly think this makes a difference. I would have been a mess solo, but we've committed to a unified plan that is benefitting us greatly. Yes, there are conversations that aren't the most fun, but we have an end goal that really is a component of "the sum of two parts" working together.
Keep doing a great job Dave!
3 rules to financial success.
1. Graduate high school.
2. Get and keep a job.
3. Don’t have a baby before you’re married.
Step one not 100% I dropped out of school and I make 70k a year by myself that's without my other half income
dylan duke congratulations to you. Is not getting your high school degree or ged going to bite you in the end, or is there pretty decent upward mobility with your job? I wouldn’t settle for 70K a year.
Correlation does not equal causation. Those steps are all examples of correlation and are not based on solid evidence but statistics which is junk science at best. I drink water and don't have cancer therefore drinking water prevents cancer, for example.
Wow great advice lol
DeVan Helmoski and she should also find a way to make money while at home with the kids possibly less stress on the guy
Dave: When is the wedding date?
Roxie: The 12th of never.
Lol
February 30th 😂
@@juanl1999 Lol
Dave married them over the phone
1. Rent until you get married 2. Save up your emergency fund during that time 3. Save up a down payment 4. Buy house and live happily ever after lol
They should have had a courthouse wedding the moment that they decided to get married, that way step 1 is done quickly.
@@wolfsden6479 recriminations. No time machine. Wiser going forward.
Step 5: reach into pocket and pull out quarter. Flip it and call heads or tails. 50% end in divorce.
@@panpluto13 Yea its a lot less then that if money is not an issue, and they already have a kid so it's better to just commit.
If Dave had his way they wouldn’t even live in rented together before they got married! He’d prefer the daughter to be handed straight from the father in family home to husband in the marital home in one go haha
Amen, Dave!
The opportunity cost of cigarettes could probably buy you a home!
STUD
At least shes concerned about not wasting the money and calling Dave for advice. Some woman would take their man to the cleaners. Be careful writing ppl a blank check. He must really trust her
Love listening to Dave Ramsey! We are on baby step 2😃Will you guys ever be out in the Southern California area?
See the issue with people that get engaged is that they think they need a big wedding to impress other people and get engaged just to say they are 🤦♀️ the moment my husband and i got engaged we set the date that same day. We got married at our apartment 2 months after and are happily together. Spend around $400 on the wedding and saved all the other money. Now we are married, debt free, baby on the way and ready to buy a house.
I don't think it has to do with being Christian or whatever, the fact that married people win with money and not boy/girlfriend is because lack of commitment or insecurities.
Christians recognize that money and God are connected. He gives us what he thinks we can handle and tells us in the Bible to be good stewards of resources he gives us. That includes money and investing it and saving. Simply recognizing the source of your blessings is a form of humility.
@@truckercowboyed2638 I was going for the more rational approach but you do you man
Or because divorce ruins men, and once they are divorced... why they are no longer married, and thus are part of the statistical proof that marriage is good for your economy.
@Josh S JESUS LOVES YOU AND IT'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. GOD BLESS YOU SIR!💙
Lack of intentionality.
Making a commitment should always be the first step before you go out there and spend money 💰 together with no long term commitment.
I really like Roxie's attitude. Definitely rooting for her!
I make a little less than that and I’m not ready to buy a house. I have some savings but def not 20% for a house in NorCal. Good luck to this couple!
I feel like she thought she was doing great and Dave was going to congratulate her on how awesome she was doing lol. He was not impressed 😂
I agree. It was all fun and games till Dave said "So when are y'all getting married?" Crickets and a baby after that!
He said "You wanna show, get you a show." 😩..😅 love it...
Hard working people are hard to find these days 👏🏽
that all depends on their background. I've found that farm boys and farm girls have always worked very effectively for me. and the odd driven tradesperson. Beware the psychopaths with the plans though.
😂😂😂 Dave keep it funky 💯
go ahead and lock him down when he walks in the door - hahahahhahahha
I would delay on buying a primary and buying rental properties first. After a few years and a nice portfolio, the rentals can pay for your mortgage. Buying rental properties was the best thing I ever did.
I can smell that pack of Marlboro coming off my phone
Everytime she laughed I gagged a little. 🤢
No joke. I needed to wash my hands after this call
Better than Newport menthol lol
Dave is a good man
Hotel room? Nah that driver is definitely sleeping in the bunk of his truck lol
"U can write a blog about me while you living in your mother's basement " 😂😂😂
Whatever makes money to invest. Especially on the d/l
Lol the shade.
Does anybody knows who he is talking about? I have the feeling he is talking about somebody special.
She’s worried that they’re putting the cart before the horse by buying a house? They already had a baby!
No one in my generation out of 4 kids has children and my mother married 3 times, neither of which were successful marriages but, I wouldn’t ever have a child and buy a house and not be married.
Private Private I bought a house when I was single and a rental condo. Now I’m married and my wife and I are nearly everyday millionaires.
She hasn't given 2 seconds of thought towards paying for that wedding.
Dave Ramsey. The GOAT
Now a days being consumer debt free is unusual... I find it so sad 😐
Its all depends on how secure is your income.
Yes!
OTR lifes rough!
Very wise man
Dave, I like the way you approached these people. You did not condemn them because of your belief system.
Oh how I love when people won't get to the point.
70k two person is barely nothing. I live in a medium cost of living city and makes 90k and barely have any leftover
70k one person, she doesn’t work she sits with the baby all day burning heaters
@@rickjames4406hints why he said 2 ppl. One person isn’t making anything so it is one person making 70k but they have to share it if they marry
As long as u can comfortably pay the mortgage for the duration of the loan, it shld b ok
All depends on your situation and also where you live if you’re in NEW YORK there’s no way you can buy a house with 70k a year if you plan on buying one out in the country for 200k then if you can afford it I don’t see why not !
Love that smoker’s cough
"He Can Watch It While On The Road" Watch Out Guys Lol
I seriously want to call
My b-i-l and s-i-l are both shacked up with their significant others, with kids, and just won't get married. I've been trying to convince them for the longest, but they "don't wanna get tied down" and I'm like... U HAVE KIDS, U'VE BEEN TOGETHER ALMOST 8 (&5) YEARS ALREADY!!
idk, my wife's siblings, can't reason with em. 🤷♂️
I get it if you're engaged and not living together, but I never get people who gets engaged and been living together for a while aready.
So the only way I can survive financially is if I get married. What if you never get married? Or what if you dont want to get married ?
Then don't think you are having kids, and don't live with a boyfriend, don't merge finances with anyone, and your all set.
You and your selective hearing. He said for couples, you have to do it together.
I am planning to win by myself as a single Pringle.
Stay single of you want just don't give someone else power over your finances by buying things together or depending on their income to pay your bills.
I agree.
You don’t have to get married. Just don’t plan on having kids or mixing finances with your “Roommate”.
As much as I love that you encourage them to marry I was hoping Dave would answer my he questions for us too
I get Dave’s point about married couples being more successful with money goals, but there’s a way to do that without being flippant. At this point they have a kid together so they’re more than roommates. That’s not the order I would have built my family, but at this point they are where they are, so it is what it is. I agree with all the other advice, just not the calling them roommates
Until you’re married your still roommates. It’s too easy to say forget it. In a marriage, it’s legal document. It’s if we separate, it’s going to come at a cost.
@6:40 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 DAVE IS TOO REAL! YASSSS! 💯 🙌🏾
I love you, Here's how i want you to win 🙌
I’m a liberal lesbian and I love Mr. Dave. This is one of the reasons we fought so hard for marriage rights. 💰 Legally unmarried people lose out on hundreds of thousands of $ over a lifetime compared to married folk, all other factors being equal. Find a good one and put a ring on it.
Eww

@@marciabrown2418 Eww yourself.
I love how Dave push the marriage narrative! It’s fantastic!

Dave prob missed what that other caller said who was paying rent with their fiance and ready to buy a house in DC and no wedding mentioned
Don't hold your breath Roxie,he loves lot lizards to much to be tied down to you 😂😂😂😂😂
She sounds like a lot lizard herself
Would you recommend getting a house with a domestic partner or civil union?
Only wedding makes you "We"
I love Dave Ramsey! He speaks the truth. You don't hear the truth very often these days. It was great, life-changing advice. The lady will make it happen. She sounds strong.
I agree, buying a house with girlfriend/boyfriend seems like a nightmare. Don’t I’ve with them either. I’m not judging
What if you dont want to get married but have a roommate for life.
Dave Ramsey, Certified Yo-Yo gangster.
Well said Dave. I am starting to realize that my values align more with conservatives. This is crazy, I am starting to lean to the right. OMG!!!!
Noire Ebene you aren’t leaning right. The left has just gone so extreme it just appears you are moving right.
Take a good look at who is the leader of the right and what he stands for, and that should pull you back to the middle pretty fast
Gary O'Driscoll You are absolutely correct. What the heck happened to the left? Recently I’ve been thinking “Am I a Republican” because my views on marriage and law-enforcement are so far off from the left that I think “what’s happening to me?” But you’re right.
@@HamiltonRb Who is the leader of the right? Remember now it was the establishment Republicans who tried everything to sabotage Trumps Presidential Campaign. But staying ever true to their incompetent form, they couldn't even manage that.
HamiltonRb Equality and life, that’s what he’s for, good point 👍
Exactly. Get married
being a trucker is a gamble very easy to lose your cdl and go from 70k to 30k working at walmart
Facts
People make 30k at Walmart lol.
Dave I can't wait to tell you that my wife and I are debt free
@PoopCoin Patrick I should of said when we are debt free I can't wait to tell him
“We” make $70k a year but “he” makes $70k a year. Hmmm... “we”... oKaY...
I was wondering why he never asked what she brings in.
HamiltonRb the guy has a good head between his shoulders.. he let it overpower him with the thing in between her legs
@@ErrorPagenotFound-ig1cy Happens to the best of us. We are weak
If she's home taking care of the baby it's "we". Because he couldn't be out on the road making money without her support at home.
Penguin1290 “we” can also send the children to daycare while “she” can focus on getting a career. You can make up all the excuses in the world if you’re driven then you’ll make a way to win.
Can anyone tell me how to go about sending in questions like this? I'm new to the channel and am in a.... Sticky situation.
call in, I don't remember the number, hope everything works out.
GOOGLE "call in to the dave ramsey show" I found the number easily that way.
I love Dave and how much he's helped people, but some of the stuff he says he pulls out of nowhere... All the research??? What research?? How big is the sample size? What are the age groups in this "research"?
I've personally know several couples who bought a house together without being married, have kids and are still together after several years, mind you is true that being married is more convinient because of tax breaks and stuff, not every couple that is financial successful HAS to be married.
The age thing is big. When you're in your 20s and maybe even 30s you do have to worry about the person running off with someone else. Me and my girlfriend are in our 60s and no one is going anywhere. We are very frugal and pretty much agree on everything. So there are exceptions to every rule.
Depends on where you live lol nyc you’d be in trouble
I don't want to live on a world where an adult cannot make their own decisions.
For the love of God stop smoking lady!
70k together is nothing
I hate when Dave gets "my gf/bf/fiance(e)" calls because he ignores the question
Like he said, get your own show and you can answer their questions.
Uncle Dave is the 55 year old Dad that wears Hollister and goes to High School parties and says High Key and Yo.
Also getting married can ruin a guys life if theres a divorce..and statistics say you have a better chance of getting one than not
I never understood why people give their bf or gf access to their bank accounts. It seems hella backwards.
That’s scary putting all your money in the hands of a woman who doesn’t understand money
What about single adults?
Being good with money is just basic math. Crunch some numbers.
Imagine if they bought a house and how much they could have made selling it about a year ago.
Found out we were pregnant’ lol 😮
This is some grade A marriage advice
im glad that Dave calls out that she is just playing house with here "fiance" they alrready been together for some time and have a kid its time to seal the deal and just tie the knot, and stop being just roomates
Why?
Mia Rossi a lot of times men are the ones that stall out from being married out of fear but if the man don't plan on going anywhere why not just tie the knot? If you love the woman and the love is there, you both have a child together and willing to do whatever its take to orovide and nuture each other take it the extra mile
