The Latex-ite Airport Grade Driveway Filler Sealer is an asphalt emulsion-based low-VOC formula designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway. This non-skid sealer fills hairline cracks (1/8 in. or less) and is polymer fortified for added durability. Helpful hints before you seal your driveway: 1) Purchase an extra pail: any unused portion can be saved for touch-ups (running out during the project may result in color variations). 2) Flip pails overnight prior to application (it will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency). 3) Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 4) Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecasted and it is at least 55 degrees F at night (a cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 5) Check latexite.com for further tips and how-to videos. (Please note: if product is not available to order in your area, it is due to nighttime temperatures.) Expedition Money LLC

Peter, you've probably paid a high premium for the trowel grade Latex--ITE filler sealer, compared to the same size container of the latex final sealing product. Just buy one extra pail of the sealer product and create your own low cost trowel grade filler. For every two parts of latex/acrylic sealer, add two parts of clean washed sand (Playsand sold for children's sandboxes at the Home Depot) and add one part portland cement. Because the latex/acrylic sealer is water based, it will activate the portland cement in the mixture.
You can thicken the mixture for wide cracks and depressions, or you can thin the mixture to a "pour grade" to pour into very thin cracks. The product dries very quickly, with minimal shrinkage and creates a rock hard bond to the base asphalt driveway.
Driveway repair products have risen dramatically in recent years, along with other petroleum products and the "accessory products", such as special fillers can add drastically to the project cost. Save some money and have greater flexibility with the product.
Hi, are you saying to mix the sand with the Latex-ITE before applying it to seal the alligator cracks?
Thank you 😅
@@nuchipippity Yes, sand and Portland cement in the proportions stated. It has a good "working time" to fill cracks, of about 40 minutes until it sets.
Thanks so much for the ratios! This will save us a lot of money. Very much appreciated!!🙏
You're right sir that's exactly how you do it with sand
Will this ratio work to seal cracks spreading it with a squeegee?
LOVE that u gave before & after pics. Most don't. Thanks for the to-the-point informative video.
HOLY SHIT! I go looking for a video on asphalt repair and find an old friend! Nice video, Pete! I'm glad you're out there doing awesome.
It took me 2.5 gallon of latexite optimum for a 900 sq ft driveway. I used another 1.5 gallons as a second coat about 2 hrs later. Turned out great - took me 4 full hrs. You need to mix a lot.
I've watched a few of your videos gathering information on different products and situations. I appreciate the info I'm about to attempt a patch and resurface DIY driveway job myself and these videos very helpful. Thanks again!
So, how did it hold up 1 1/2 yrs later? Did the cracks open back up?
i've had mine done " Professionally twice by 2 different companies and they don't even come close to the quality I can do myself . Fill those larger pitted areas with a crack filler before using the sealer . ALL these sealers come from 2 national companies that are owned by one larger company so don't get draw-in with the " Fancy " advertising .... there are only two types , Economy and PREMIUM >>> you choose !!!
Thank you Mr. Von Panda! 🐼 We have a lot of “gatoring” . Now I feel more confident doing it!
This worked well for me! For really deep channels, it may need a second coat after curing, Sarah!
Wow Peter, good instruction and clear before/after. I'm going to try it!
I love my results! Hopefully it works for you too!
Great job, super informative and well done
Use trowel patch instead and then seal over it
Do I need to use a crack filler or trowel patch first before applying it?
Isn’t this a sealer as well? Why did you have seal over the sealer?
I like how it looks... thanks
Mine was rated “warranty” for 7 years nope barely a year in upstate NY.
Those warranties are laughable. I live in Wisconsin and no matter what warranty I get; After the first Winter it all opens back up. And yes, I addressed all cracks properly, took the time and sealed with proper knowledge on how to do it. Always looks brand new through Summer and Fall and then all bets off…
Appears to be an easy sealer. Wondering what effect, if any it would have if you resurface with asphalt over the sealer. Peace
You would likely experience adhesion issues and possible peeling of the surface course asphalt.
The typical sealer is a thin coating, like a petroleum paint. Watching all my neighbors, I’ve never seen theirs peel, being thin. But it last only about 2 years before getting dull, worn out by sun and weather.
Two mistakes that are going to shorten the life of the job. You didn't pull the vegetation (weeds) and you sealed over dirt. Wire brush and soap and water.
I have an old cement patio that needs resurfaced. Also, aggregate staircase. About 50 years old. Product to use?
I do appreciate the video though thank you
Hi, just did a small hole because of my motorcycle stand… About an inch deep! What do I need to fill it myself? Thanks!
This could work. You probably just need something to smooth it out and tamp it down. A piece of 4x4 lumber would probably work to pound it in.
I got a rash on my butt from wetness for days without knowledge. Is there a sealant that will work wonders like this product does on a canvas. Please get back to me k
Yes indeed, try monkey butt powder if that doesn't work then point your exposed butt towards a metal fan while drinking 1 of America's finest pilsners.
Any reason to not coat the entire driveway with a filler? I just bought a house with a pretty rough-condition driveway. (Old with lots of alligatoring and thinned out asphalt). Spending $300 on these is way cheaper than buying a new driveway and if it lasts for a few years, it might be worth it. Any thoughts?
You can definitely use this on the entire driveway! I did!
Hire a crew to heat and resurface the existing asphalt.
No matter what you use, these cracks will come back the following seasons.
Especially north east which experiences hot summers, cold winters.
Lots of movement from freeze and thaw process.
Ok. But still have to cover if not seal the cracks from more water getting under and lifting. Can’t spend $12 sf to rip up and replace, and then a new driveway has imperfections that will let water seep under in 5 years.
@@tonymanero5544 i agree, keep that maintenance going...
I got the Latexite 10 yr and the Gardner 10. Both were soupy and watery as all hell from Home Depot
Nothing like what you have. How can I get this? I've been screwed twice now.
Please I have auto oil in my driveway, I have power washed it but still have it. Can I use your product to change it back to it's original state?
Nope, oils stain will come thru. You need to prime it first, then use this product.
They sell products specifically for covering those oil stains before sealing. The one I've seen was in a small white bottle
Google for a driveway oil cleaner, then apply a oil spot primer, before applying a sealer. Really, it’s more cosmetic than anything else, and you want want the keep waterfrom getting underneath .
Sir, this is a finishing driveway sealer. For heavier cracks use a filler instead.
I know nothing and was thinking the same thing
True. But any sealer keeps water from getting underneath for freezing and thawing action. A filler fills voids to the surface level for better appearances.
So what happens if it actually does rain within 24 hours of putting this stuff on? Does it just take longer to cure, or is it somehow ruined forever?
Ruined forever. It washes away.
Why not make a towel on a handle and swezzing onto the drive and fill in the driveway
Pete! I just found this video looking to fix up my driveway, 🤗
Hope it works! I’m happy with my results, H Dawg!
Where do you find this product?
I have been told Acrylic top coating does Not adhere to Asphalt.
This stuff doesn't work atall. I applied it last summer. Most of the cracks came back over the course of one winter. Look for a better solution is my suggestion.
Did I understand correctly that I'd have to seal the whole driveway with something else afterward?
I did but only because I wanted to change the color. You can absolutely use this as your final sealer and it works great!
Where to buy australia
Ottimo prodotto
what happened to the color? didnt you put color sealant on it?
I did. I just released this video after the sealer video. They’re out of order so you have a darn good memory!
do you think i can apply this latex-ite over the aquaphalt 6.0 immediately afterward ?
I'm not an expert on that, but I would not seal aquaphalt immediately after putting it down. I waited 2 months for the summer heat to completely dry and bake my aquaphalt before I sealed it
@@petervonpanda hi Peter. Thanks for the reply. This is what I got on their website. Hope it helps . A ‘GREEN’ [no VOC content] sealer can be applied upon completion of compaction. If using a sealer that contains VOC’s, wait 24 hours for Aquaphalt™ to cure completely
How did it hold up in weather? And long term? I love in New England with hot/rain and of course cold winters. thanks!
These are surface treatments. And in NE weather ranging from 10 to 100 degrees, it will last 2 to 5 years. I think key is to cover, seal whenever you see a crack, to keep water from seeping under and through freezing and thawing pushing up the surfaces, like you see on the NE roads.
Pour it out of the bucket, use a squeegee and an old push broom with stiff bristles, wear some old shoes and pants you can afford to throw away . You’re welcome
which is the best lasting brand? please anyone ?
After less than a year it started crumbling off the pavement. Every 1-2 weeks so much will have crumbled that I need to sweep it, it looks like a gravel driveway before I sweep it.
Not sure what to do with the driveway now?
Is there a thickness difference between the “airport grade” and the “ultra” latexite?
Can this stuff be used to fill in small potholes in a parking lot in between getting the parking lot resealed?
I might try Aquaphalt... I used it to fill holes, and it worked great!
Buy a bag of cold mixed asphaltic concrete road patch from a box store and fill the hole.
Tech tip- use WD-40 to clean you scoop and trowel to keep the job clean.
No.
Can this go on top of cement patched area?
I was wondering that, too. I was thinking of just "parging" all of the deep alligator cracks with cement or concrete. Mine is so bad that to an ant it must look like a mountain range. 10% seal coating left. Many commentors are saying these fillers are junk, so, I'm considering parging concrete over the cracks/fissures and then just sealcoat over all of it. Would the sealcoat bond to concrete?
I had my driveway seal coated with the exact same stuff now the people hired maliciously dumped water on part of it then I went out and bought the next step better than this one the ten-year driveway sealant !
Why do you have to leave the buckets upside down?
You don’t have to, but I do so when I flip them back, they are slightly mixed already instead of letting them settle and having to mix it all by hand.
@@petervonpanda thank u. We weren’t sure if it was a requirement lol
can this product be added to cement driveways?
You need hydraulic cement for patching concrete. It comes in a tub like Dap products at the box stores.
love this product it works great!!! it does it all small to large ones, Buy this product!!!!
Interesting intro, your driveway is in poor shape, how long since the last time you sealed and what did you really apply?
It had been a few years since I had it sealed. And the previous sealings were done by a company that came and sprayed on a coating that was pretty thin with no repairs beforehand. This sealer, the trowel patch, some of the coiled rubber stripping that you shove into the big cracks, and then a top coating of the colored sealer is all I’ve done since. Right now, it probably needs a bit of filler here and there and another sealing but it’s held up remarkably well
Don't you have 2 grind out cracks
Would you fill a little pot hole with this stuff?
nope cut out a section and fill with cold patch or aquaphault.
Price letex filler
hrm I don't see a difference. the cracks are still there
Hey, great video. Some people said adding a small amount of sand to the sealer will make it stronger, especially when filling cracks and holes. Do you have similar experience ?
I haven’t tried it but I should next time. I heard it gives it more texture and makes it grippier too
Sand to a mix won’t add to the flexural strength of the pavement.
Those resurfacing products only make it look pretty for a while before you have to buy more of their product.
@@BackyardRambo are you referring to sealants used to sealcoat a driveway? sealcoating is a waste is what you are saying?
So how’s it looking after 3 years, Peter?
Good question! I should do a video this spring before I do the round of repairs and maintenance. Getting some cracking again that I’ll fill with the same stuff and then reseal but I’ve done nothing since this video so I’m pleasantly surprised at how it’s held up!
Naaahghghghgh.....
What do you mean "Airport Quality???"
Airports don't use asphalt on the runways, they use concrete. Just l👀k at the asphalt in your driveway, can you imagine how bad a runway would be with Jumbo Jets landing on it...🤣🤔🤣
Most small town airports and private airstrips are asphalt. Concrete runways are extremely expensive. That being said most airports with Concrete runways still have asphalt taxi ways.
Triage his driveway. Lol
I have done this and it's a complete waste of money and time.
You can't mix latex and oil sealer. Stick to what you have.
Good video of how not to do this😂
Home Depot $20!
Great stuff at a great price.
What is your location?
not 20 anymore

The only real way to repair HMAC driveways is to hire a crew with the right equipment.
You have two options because crack seal is fugly:
Remove and Replace
Or
Hire a contractor with a heated repaving rig, meaning they heat the asphalt up to about 300 degrees and repave it. Definitely more cost effective.
HMAC means Hot Mixed Asphaltic Concrete
I’m an inspector with 25 years experience.
You know what you’re talking about. This thing doesn’t really work. It looks nice initially but one winter is all it takes to open the cracks again. It’s really a waste of time and money.
You’re talking $5k whenever a crew and equipment come out. A seal may be fugly, but it keeps water from seeping under from freezing and thawing. And contractors rip you off because their crew don’t usually do everything promised. They never come back to fix mistakes.
RUclips people who says “do it right to avoid callbacks” are the only 100 trades people who come back to fix later problems. My window company for Marvin top-of-line came back 9 months later to properly install brick moulding on 2 windows on a $63,000 job that 2 guys only took 3.5 days to do 31 windows. My $20,000 roof job (1 day with a crew) with GAF 50-year warranty architectural shingles tried to deny responsibility for a water downpour 3 weeks later. I could go on and on with “reputable” contractors promising undelivered quality.
What I don't understand why guys make videos and boost a product but never mention where to get it. The common sense of the average person is going down 😅😅😅 I truly believe that. All that trouble of creating a video and never mentions where person can get it especially when he says he tried so many other ones. Totally unreal
What I don't understand is why guys comment on videos, saying that the person who made the video doesn't tell you where to get the product even though there is a link to where to get the product directly below the video. 😅
G
This type of Sealcoat is garbage . You get what you pay for . It’s little more then black water .
News flash…..airports don’t use that crap
This junk flaked off after following directions
Junk
Just like any other product... 30$=30$
Hey Peter. I was wondering if you have used other Latexite driveway sealers too, such as the more pricey ones? If so, do you find the Airport Grade is the best?
Wait brother, isn’t this the same product used as a final sealer? Because if that’s the case I won’t have to buy a patch to fi this gator cracks
