I drove 3 hours to the coast, and wish I hadn't - Ussher Point, Cape York

Ussher Point is only 60kms from the 'road', but it takes a long time to get there, and I am not sure it was really worth it.

Was your campsite one of the 'official' sites (I think there are 4 - one at the edge of a perched lake and 3 at the beach itself), or just a little turnaround spot you found out of the wind? Looks like it would be impossible to avoid scratching a bit of paint off a vehicle on the way in, with the hemmed-in width in many places. Love the remoteness, though.
