I recently retired from a very stressful job. I found your channel by accident and I can't tell you how grateful I'am for my discovery. After watching your channel I purchased a gravel bike and started peddling and have found new joy in my life. Thank you so much and please continue to work on your channel, you're doing a great job! And, you might just see me out there on the Ochoco someday.
Awesome vid! (Contact lenses made all my riding, whether w/ sweat, rain, mud, or wanting sunglasses, so much easier!) I ride more because I no longer wear glasses.
You nailed this video, everything is great. Pacing of the edit was on point, no laggy moments. Very well done, I really hope your channel booms this year like you hope. Greetings from the Netherlands (but Im English).
This is awesome country. I did the ride from the Good Bike Co to the dam last year on the Firecracker 100K.... but that was in July! i see Natalie had her baby! Very cute. And I've done other parts during Cycle Oregon... but that was in early September. I've also crossed the forest back and forth on a motorcycle and camped there but wow, you have real grit. Great video. Thank you.
"Adversity makes for good memories." Loved your differing choices of music to reflect the suffering, water/fishing, comraderie, etc.! You totally earned those patches.
Nice ride and documentation. This is the first time I've seen campers smoking their gears on sticks instead of marshmallows. By the way, Laura's outfit is very cool and well integrated. + the sweet colors of her bike = tight aesthetics.
Prineville !!! Yes there is some great fishing in that area. You've both been away from Oregon to long....you were so bummed about the rain....Hey its Oregon ! Looked like fun....wet fun. Rides with challenges are the ones you will remember the most....love your videos....keep them coming.
Thanks so much for making this, it's great to be able to get a feel for the trip. And impressive that you pulled it off, even when the weather was so sketch.
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this video - in fact I was going to ask when we could expect it - so it was a nice surprise to wake up yesterday morning to see it’d been posted already. Epic ride through tough conditions, well done guys, you nailed it. Chapeau. It’s a really great video too, I like that it’s a little longer than usual (I really wouldn’t have minded it being even longer). Watching it over breakfast yesterday really made me want to strap on some bags and head out on a trip for a few days, but: I only got back from a 3 day-er a few days ago, I’m leaving town early tomorrow morning, and, there’s a thick blanket of chilly fog/smog/rain hanging over Warsaw right now (so I went for a sauna instead!). And! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks a machete could be a useful tool on a bikepacking trip! I haven’t taken one along yet, but I have been thinking of ways/places to carry a machete, so it might happen sometime.
Yep, I was thinking that when I was watching the video. Instead of the brewery truck someone should’ve invented a sauna van and brought it along. Or even better, the brewery truck towing a sauna trailer - the ultimate bikepacking accessory.
Awesome video and editing work! You really have a knack for putting it all together - scenery, commentary, riding. If you haven't tried a tarp instead of a tent, you might like it. There is less to carry, especially when it's wet.
Hi Russ, excited to see the video of this trip! Good efforts, especially given the rain so big thumbs up. Can you share what music is is @13:30 as I hear it a lot on your channel? Thx, love the video’s!
#SUPPLE LIFE ...Great video! Patagonia and Salsa Fargo’s for days!!!👏🏽🚵🏼♂️. Russ..How did your gloves hold up? The rain made it challenging but you got a cool patch out of it 😁
Great video!...any chance you'll do as video about your gear? Curious about your rain gear and what you carried (vs. what (if anything) went in truck). TIA.
well done. Type II fun! Maybe look into those Cuben fibre tents? I never tried one yet, but supposed to be good for wet conditions and 1/3 less weight, doesn't absorb water.
Great video Russ. I was wondering if you run the Shockstop Stem on your bike. I am thinking about getting one and I know you liked that stem in your review.
Nice! It also makes me wonder it not using a rain poncho would be a viable option as long as the wind is reasonable. The climbs in rain looked both wet and cold!
Outstanding event and video. How'd your shower pass gloves work out? Looking at them for this fall here in Vermont. Take care and thanks for the video,Al
The SP gloves eventually got soaked through. It was tough conditions! Under most circumstances they do well, but 2 days of pretty solid rain was hard on them.
An idocracy reference on Day 1 made the entire ochoco documentary. Excellent work. Unfortunately, I only run 28's on my CAAD and my mountain bike is 27.5 not that 650 size therefore I can only participate in the pseudo-supple life. :)
Loved watching! Question to you - do you wish you had fenders on days like those? I know the cutthroat isn't optimized for fenders, but do you think they'd be beneficial? Or too many rocks and stuff that could get caught in the fenders? Curious as to your thoughts, love the channel.
Pretty good. What gopro did you use? And what mic was attached? Also if other cameras were used, please share this info. The video quality is really good! Wanna do the same.
Good job! 👍🏼 It looks you aren’t aware of your weight loading is slowing your pace so much... Maybe you could talk about gear weight in another video? Unless it has been done already.. (sorry if it’s the case 😬)
Personally, I see no advantage for a gravel bike. I would have just used a mountain bike. Bar ends for more hand positions. I have watched many of your videos and you seem to not require high speed, so why not a MTB? BTW...this is a really good channel. Love your videos, my friend.
Thanks for watching. We should make a video on this topic since it gets asked a lot! For us a few reasons. 1). Can’t do flat bars for long periods. After a few hours it aggravates my carpal tunnel and it becomes painful to ride. 2) a lot of the riding we do involves roads (dirt / paved) and a mountain bike would be overkill and heavier than we need for the riding 3) underbking - there is something fun about riding a slightly inappropriate bike.
Great video. Felt like I was right there along the ride. Except I’m warm and dry How much does the event cost / are they planning this next year as well? I would love to do this

The filmmaking has become top notch. Really enjoyed this
This was awesome! Thank you and Laura for sharing your experience with us.
Thanks Russ and Laura, great memento for four solid days with a great crew in the Ochocos!
Great meeting you!
Russ this was one of my favorite videos from PLP. Great story telling.
Thanks. It was a real challenge!
@@PathLessPedaledTV back again for 2019?
Awesome vid! (Contact lenses made all my riding, whether w/ sweat, rain, mud, or wanting sunglasses, so much easier!) I ride more because I no longer wear glasses.
Russ, you’re an excellent filmmaker.
Great video. These are my favorite type of videos from you along with biking centric vacation/destination spots.
Kudos to Salsa for supporting events like this one.
That gravel is so awesome, smooth and stable!
Good vid . Props to the organizer for keeping everyone in a good mood.
Yeah. James did great.
Awesome! Such good times! Great event coverage.
Really enjoyed every minute of the video, like everything I see from "Path Less Pedaled" thanks Laura, thanks Russ. Me, Ernesto from Guatemala.
Love these types of videos, warts and all. The conditions makes one appreciate a well run event like this.
What a wonderful video that you two have made,it brings every one together and bond with each other. Lots of great looking Bikes.. Thanks.
So cool! Love the vid - great job as always.
Amazing Trip,Amazing scenery,Awesome people, and Great music! Thank you so much.:-)
Favorite ride vid y'all have put out yet!!!!!!!! The actual filmmaking on your channel has gotten so so good. Keep up the good work guys!
One of your best videos, if not the best. Living vicariously through this channel
First time I watched this kind of activity! Awesome! Exciting experience.
This was a great video. Looked like a good balance of fun and hardship.
You nailed this video, everything is great. Pacing of the edit was on point, no laggy moments. Very well done, I really hope your channel booms this year like you hope. Greetings from the Netherlands (but Im English).
I would fly out from New Jersey to do a ride like this.
Love watching your vids and thanks for putting this on my radar

Good watching mate. Wholesome AF.

Awesome video Russ. Great story!
Great video and story! Thank you!
Rad video, dudes! I so need to ride this ride now!
I dream of the supple life :) Great all-around video.
This looked like a tough one but lots of fun. Great video
I really enjoyed this video, well done.
‘Where’s the Pappy Van Winkle fairy” haha Russ your my kind of dude. Great video. Cheers
So, so good! Like being there-but dry!
This video was fantastic! I hope to one day attend something similar so I will definitely check out this ride.
looks really cool to do thanks for the video
Great video. Can't wait to see the 2019.
Another great video!
Excellent film. Starting to get the bike-packing itch...
This would be a blast!
Strong Ride, Great Video.
Nicely done. 👍
Nice film! and well made. Could feel the coldness.
I saw an old friend Stan you showed at the end of the ride. Great video.
Epic!!! Ride.
Great video

Ha. To be fair. It hadn't rained in literally 100 days and just dumped on that weekend.
Another nice production!
Yeah, I don't think many people understand how much time and effort (and talent) goes into a production like this. Two thumbs up!
Luv your videos
Thanks so much for making this, it's great to be able to get a feel for the trip. And impressive that you pulled it off, even when the weather was so sketch.
I love bikes!
That was awesome excellent freaking job🚵
I dig the background music you chose !!

Nice ride :)

Love the "here's a quick tour". You Americans are too polite:) great channel...
Good work. I'm not sure how you do it with glasses. I have contacts for riding (and work) and it makes life so much better!
This looks like a fun but challenging ride. Something I would like to do.
Hi Russ, excited to see the video of this trip! Good efforts, especially given the rain so big thumbs up. Can you share what music is is @13:30 as I hear it a lot on your channel? Thx, love the video’s!
New to channel....awesome....
#SUPPLE LIFE ...Great video! Patagonia and Salsa Fargo’s for days!!!👏🏽🚵🏼♂️. Russ..How did your gloves hold up? The rain made it challenging but you got a cool patch out of it 😁
Great video as always. What kind of mirror are you sportingz?
love it
Good shit
Heck yeah! What a sweet event! Russ how ae those Shower's Pass gloves holding up?
They're great. They did get saturated by the end of each day. Managed to get them relatively dry by the fire every evening though.
Hey Russ I love the sound tracks of all your vids! Do you make it yourself?
Great video!...any chance you'll do as video about your gear? Curious about your rain gear and what you carried (vs. what (if anything) went in truck). TIA.
Yeah, planning a few follow up vids about what worked and what didn't.
well done. Type II fun! Maybe look into those Cuben fibre tents? I never tried one yet, but supposed to be good for wet conditions and 1/3 less weight, doesn't absorb water.
Never tried a cuben fiber tent. They look nifty.
Great video Russ. I was wondering if you run the Shockstop Stem on your bike. I am thinking about getting one and I know you liked that stem in your review.
Love it. Highly recommend it. Was awesome for the washboard.
Nice! It also makes me wonder it not using a rain poncho would be a viable option as long as the wind is reasonable. The climbs in rain looked both wet and cold!
Would have been good, but hard to pack in the bikepacking setup.
Love the videos. I wanna get into bike packing myself. Are there any good sites to use on the internet or Facebook? Thank you.
The route is on RidewithGPS if anyone wants to do the ride. This looks like beautiful country!
Nice 👍
Outstanding event and video. How'd your shower pass gloves work out? Looking at them for this fall here in Vermont. Take care and thanks for the video,Al
The SP gloves eventually got soaked through. It was tough conditions! Under most circumstances they do well, but 2 days of pretty solid rain was hard on them.
Thanks Russ
Excellent !! Great video. Jones next time ? lol
Jones would have been great on the descents but a slog on the steep long climbs.
An idocracy reference on Day 1 made the entire ochoco documentary. Excellent work. Unfortunately, I only run 28's on my CAAD and my mountain bike is 27.5 not that 650 size therefore I can only participate in the pseudo-supple life. :)
Ha. Glad u caught that.
Lol, electrolytes. From the idiocracy movie. Good humor
Hi Russ & Laura! I'm curious, what brand is Laura's orange jacket on during this ride? Great video!
Showers Pass Women’s IMBA jacket.
Loved watching! Question to you - do you wish you had fenders on days like those? I know the cutthroat isn't optimized for fenders, but do you think they'd be beneficial? Or too many rocks and stuff that could get caught in the fenders? Curious as to your thoughts, love the channel.
On this ride, would have not wanted fenders. Lots of chunder to navigate through.
I saw several riders using the Jones H Loop handlebar. Have you done a review of them? I'm thinking of trying them.
Yes. We have a vid on the Jones Complete Bike as well as setting it up on an El Mariachi.
No fish, but a good looking double-haul
"Its what plants crave" LOL
what tires are you running in the Cutthroat (type and size) Thanks
Pretty good. What gopro did you use? And what mic was attached? Also if other cameras were used, please share this info. The video quality is really good! Wanna do the same.
Being from Phoenix Arizona I would have died on that ride.
Good job! 👍🏼
It looks you aren’t aware of your weight loading is slowing your pace so much...
Maybe you could talk about gear weight in another video? Unless it has been done already.. (sorry if it’s the case 😬)
I use 700x23 armadillo tires for every day commuting. WHAT TYPE OF TIRES ARE YOU RIDING ON?
Russ has a 700x50. Laura has 700x45.
Y'all would have been a lot warmer with a Giro Timberwolf helmet. It's got a fleece liner and ear coverings to keep the head and ears warm.
That sounds amazeballs.
@@TeslaOsiris That sounds like a good deal.
Any bikes set up self contained as bike packing?
It was semi-supported event. So no. We carried tents and sleeping stuff but no food or kitchen things. Or beer.
Did you use the GoPro Hero 7?
Did this before the 7. Used a 5 black and 5 session.
song at 13:29 ?
