I wasn’t scarred, I was five- you were a star in my eyes

Too young to understand weekend visitations
But when you dropped me off, I could see the limitations

And every two weeks, you dropped off child support
As an adolescent I remember us having sessions
Of laughter, jesting, chess, and practical lessons
That was was a blessing- I’m guessing the long and short of it
Is that the little I got made me long for more of it
Looking back ,I can see at times I would silently
Wonder why is He not excited to spend some time with me?
For us to get together, usually I’d have to call you
At times you would make plans with me and they would fall through
Time passed- no longer a kid, but in my teens

And as I got older, my heart got colder
Carrying the weight of your absence on my shoulders
Wishing you weren’t distant, so much bitterness then
My whole life switched when I became a Christian
So many memories locked away
For now, all I gotta say is Happy Father’s Day

Through divine election, I received a blessing
Discovered that I now had a Father who was in heaven
After I was saved through the gospel and made new

It wasn’t what I hoped for- you didn’t’ shed a tear

My life at that point, I can’t recall a lot off the top
But time stood still when I saw you at the coffee shop
It was clearer your end of your days was getting nearer
You said looking at me was like staring into a mirror
Since then I see you here and there-get togethers, funerals

I’m married now and got three children of my own
Not sure if by their grandfather they’ll ever be known

Made me weep on many different levels. My father abandoned me. I abandoned my son. My Father sent His Son to die for me. He adopted me, He forgave me. He reconciled me to my son.

Is having kids worth it?
The way he tells a story through his lyrics with such a smooth flow is awesome my goodness. A verse that came to mind is Ephesians 4:32. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Forgiving someone who's done harm to you is extremely difficult. Although, through Christ, we could forgive others as God has forgiven us.
Beautiful. Holy. Truth. Struck the souls of all. I was set free when I forgave my father for leaving. I wept listenin both in pain and thankfulness. Thank you brother.

This is awesome. I don't know who my biological father is. I was adopted when I was 8 months old. My father treated me in every way like his own. Never once making me feel the need or wanting to find out who my biological dad is. This showed me the power of adoption and the reason for adoption. As Christians we have been adopted by Christ and treated as if we were his very own. This was my dad's motivation for adoption, to display what Christ has done for him. What a beautiful thing for a father to do. Thanks, Shai!

I was saved @ 23 years old and my eyes were opened to see the Best Father ever in our Lord. 3 years ago God gave me my baby girl and everyday I face statistics in the eyes with a smile knowing that by Grace I will never abandon her. I’m crying heavily as I type this because I pray that all fathers shine the light of Christ into the hearts of their beautiful children. We love You, God! Thank you, Shai!!!!!🙌🏽
