    Thanks for the detailed review Will!
    As for the pushpins and endcaps, we have since changed suppliers and now provide a solution that will not move or shake loose. We had noticed the same building out turnkey systems with D-BOX haptics.

    I have owned an ASR 1 anodized rig with steel pedal plate and bottom mount wheel plate for just over a year. It is plenty sturdy for me who is 6’2” using a CSL DD and CSL Elite pedals, and the ASR 4 will only be more sturdy. The push pin end caps are set and forget for me and I haven’t noticed them getting loose. Very happy with the ASR 1 as an entry level aluminum rig.

    I got my ARS6 2 years ago and have been happy with it ever since. It has actually been great watching a Canadian company grow in the sim racing market, they seem to be always improving their products, customer service and not just sitting back becoming stagnate.

    Have this rig in Infinite Black. Has been mainly set and forget but no major scratches from assembly and initial adjustments. I agree with you that all these rigs likely have similar functionality so price and looks are what differentiate them. The Infinite Black looks amazing, reminds me of real metallic automotive pain vs anodizing.

I Bought the ASR4 with the regular Grey Anodized material. I personally Powder coated my Rig a custom Color and the paint does look amazing.

    RE: the aluminum profile pedal tray with the separate heel rest. I bought that configuration on Will's suggestion. I hate it. It's not going to be for everybody. If you're going to wear shoes while sim racing, then you'll probably be fine, but the lip that sticks up on the heel rest is something I just can't get used to while just in my socks and it feels very awkward and uncomfortable no matter now much I try to adjust it, especially while braking. It's just very obtrusive. Bear that in mind when considering this option.

    I've been rocking my DIY wood rig for years, even with my simagic alpha wheelbase, but have been thinking of upgrading to an ASR rig recently. Worried about a few things with it though, like being able to run a real car seat, and mounting for handbrake, h-shifter and a sequential shifter and at the same time.

    Nice review. I am at my second ASR cockpit, I first bought the ASR3 and moved to the ASR6 after. Both are great and Advanced Simracing has one of the best customer service I have experienced. To answer your comment about the grommet that hold the end plates, yes they loosen up but I received so many extra pieces that I have a good spare supply to replace them. As for the extrusion thickness being lighter/smaller than the P1X well it's only because you are reviewing the ASR4 which compared more to the gt1 Evo, if you had the ASR6 I am pretty sure it would be as thick as you P1X ;)

  • @patrickmurray1246
    @patrickmurray1246 Год назад +2

    I think ASR rigs use imperial measurement and not metric like many other Aluminium profile rigs. If that’s true it is something to consider if you plan to mix/match parts as you build out the rig as some of the profile pieces may be slightly different lengths or widths in some areas. Love the look of the powder coat finish too. I looked at the asr6 but ended up with a tr160 as I wanted to use a few accessories from other manufacturers where the metric versus imperial mattered, but it seems like your location is the key here given shipping costs (so usa/Canada cheaper to go Trak racer or ASR, Europe goes Simlab, etc, etc). I also should give props to ASR customer service as I sent them a few questions on a motion system setup for the asr 4 and asr6 and they answered quickly and honestly with detailed thoughts on my needs and budget. Honestly much better customer service on that regard than Trak racer who have been awful (days to reply or no reply at all via email or phone).

    • @advancedsimracing
      @advancedsimracing Год назад +8

      We do! Imperial Series 15. The good news is that the vast majority of the accessories are universal. The accessories that do not fit are those that are "width based", meaning our aluminum pedal tray for example.
      Oh and thanks for sharing your experience with our customer service team. Our competitors invest in marketing while we've spent most of our budget hiring and training highly qualified and dedicated sim experts.

    Heavily been considering getting that front mount wheel deck from them, probably will maybe at some point next month. Though the mention of asking for custom profile lengths makes me wonder if I could also get just the uprights, really like the infinite black finish. My rig is entirely diy and made of wood and while mostly I have no issues with it, the wheel deck flexes more than I'd like and why I want their one since it's a pretty reasonable option, but I wouldn't doubt that some of my flex also just comes from the 2x6s I use for my uprights. Also the free shipping is great for me since I'm in Canada, getting anything from other places can get quite costly. lol

    Does that shifter mount for the tr160 stiffen it up more then the tr80. So say I wanted everything mounted , triple monitors if I got the second shifter mount for the other side for rigidity would I still get the monitor shake? I haven’t ordered one yet but where exactly is the flex the main or the monitor mount frame or Evan the monitors themself doesn’t the g6 and g9 the back of the monitor have a rotating mount

      Go with the ASR for sure. The NLR F-GT is great for its slim profile and optional casters to roll out of the way. I own it currently but the seat is not comfortable at all. I shouldn’t have believed the reviews that said it was alright. I’m over it. I’m now looking to get a nicer seat to mount to it. If you have a permanent spot for your rig, then get an aluminum profile for sure. If space savings is important, then go NLR FGT.

      @@boostedmedia I have the factory bench seat that came with the F-GT rig. I saw your review on the F-GT elite and ES1 from about a year ago and I wanted to go that route, but the budget and space were an issue. So I got the F-GT rig that can convert the seating positions from gt to Formula seating. I was looking at the NLR ERS2, but still undecided on dumping more money in a cockpit that will eventually get replaced. I suppose I could take the ERS2 with me to another cockpit but honestly I’ve been waiting on your review of it first.

    At first I never understood why people would spend over 500$ on a cockpit, I decided to get an unbranded one for about half the price and well…. It wasn’t the easiest or best experience when building it but it did come with a tv mount, and while the adjustment on the setup is very minimal it’s still better and more comfortable than my next level racing GT lite cockpit. That one was just a lawn chair with tubing that would dig into the back of my thighs making long play sessions impossible. While the cheap one I bought doesn’t have the most comfortable chair in the world it’s still a huge improvement over my old chair. Tho in hindsight I probably should have gotten something name brand cause the packaging looked like it was a diy project with all the screws in a large zip lock baggy lol. The only positive was that it was cost effective tho at the price of poor quality and complete lack of instruction it’s hard to say if it was worth it or not lol
