The way he moved in his prime was just awesome. He's the greatest forward in my lifetime.
The thing with pre-injury Ronaldo is that he had a big frame, yet he moved like if he was very small and nimble, with almost no time from going from zero to full speed and viceversa and chaging directions almost at 90 degrees without losing speed, like if he was inmune to inertial forces. It was like watching a buffalo jump around like a gazelle, and thus the otherworldly aesthetic quality he had. It just didnt seem real. Not even Messi nor Ronaldinho had this quality to their movements.
After the injury he retained a lot of his speed but lost that nimbleness, so he needed more time to achieve full speed. He was still faster than most though
He never reached his PRIME, imagine what he could have done at 26-30 without those horrific injuries

I mean, I've never seen anything like that. That's not how peak football should look like, that's just incomprehensibly phenomenal. How he gained that much speed in short range, how he envisualised the physics of the ball to position it exactly where he wanted, and just dribble and dribble making the ball rotate in a way so dynamic it doesn't even seen human anymore. He never stopped, he and the ball were one thing, and that's insane. If he played his career in full form in full lenght, he would have inimaginable numbers, inimaginable highlights and inimaginable number of Ballon d'Ors. 90s MVP, R9, Luis Nazario Da Lima Ronaldo.

People can talk about Pele, Maradona, Messi, Cristiano. But in their Prime, Ronaldo Nazario is and WILL REMAIN the best of all time. The thing's he did with a ball in his prime and his stats are unbelievable considering he missed essentially FOUR YEARS from playing due to his patella tendon injury. Yet STILL came back and won Brasils FIFTH World cup and the Golden Ball for himself. The skill, speed, vision and overall talent is unparalleled to this day. No one has come close to matching him. And he played within the Era of BRUTAL tackles and no fouls. Ronaldo is EASILY in the top 5 greatest to ever play the game , no discussion.
I have watched thousands of skill football videos and I haven't seen such elegance, simplicity and dominance of technique. That is a testament to his mastery. This is art.

Ronaldo in his prime had his opponents stay awake in the nights because they were afraid of facing him, and we are not talking about small fries but Cannavaro, Thuram, Costacurta etc. absolute top defenders. There is a compilation of him destroying the best defenders of his period. Apart from that, you have to been born in that era to fully understand what he was. Like an Italian journalist said once "Being Ronaldo is not like driving a Lamborghini, it's being a Lamborghini". I hope this helps a little.

For me, he’s not top 100 of all time. He was overweight, slow & had no dribbling skills. I really don’t understand why he got so much hype as a once in a generation superstar. Thierry Henry was far better than him honestly.

That 1997-2002 season R9 was one of the greatest players of all time. He won 2 Balon D Or’s. Was top scorer in the 2002 World Cup with 8 goals by a single player and WON that world cup, won the Balon D’Or in 2002 also. Every opponent prior to his injury at Inter, knew he was the best player on the planet. Your stats don’t mean shit when everyone knows he played until he got old at 34. I watched football cause i want to see him play and do his magic. For me he is the most complete player to play as a striker with his skill, mentality, physical and technique.
Many people blame for his injury but i believe if he play in this era he will play for a longer time because now we have a modern hospitality to treat player injury and also a complete study in sports science.

Best player in the world by the time he was barely 20, and he was head and shoulders above the rest even while he was playing in the toughest league with the toughest defenders, getting tackled like it was World War 3 nearly every time he touched the ball.
So for me Ronaldo is by far the best player I have ever seen. This man was truly something else before his injuries and even afterwards to a lesser extent.
(To be fair, I never saw Pele play and only saw Maradona when he was old, so I can't judge those 2 guys.)

I am very happy that I grew up watching him develop in front of my eyes from PSV to Barcelona to Inter to Real Madrid then AC Milan... he outperformed and did his magic everywhere he went with no excuses. He is from another planet and I feel sorry for him that he had to endure all those injuries..Nowadays I laugh when I see players like CR7 and Nymar and even Messi getting all these praising and trophies........He got everything from speed to power to technic to reflex to versatility, he was the best and no other player can match him.

That's my view. He did have an incredible career later on at Real Madrid - but that was 70% Ronaldo - he couldn't dribble at that point because of his knees.
From 96-99 - he was the best player the world has ever seen. I'm absolutely convinced about that.
Imagine what he would have been had we seen his peak. It's almost difficult to conceive. Still, he did amazingly well to come back to the top after snapping his patella tendon. Nobody else in the history of the game has ever come back from that injury to the top level - apart from el fenomeno.

I still remember whenever he got the ball he used to go straight towards the goal like these defenders were irrelevant for him. Greatest footballer I have ever seen. I think if we forget the stats and numbers and just consider skill and talent then R9 is even better than Pele and Maradona. I miss watching him play.

Man this guy is the best forward of all time, he does skills just to dribble pass players nothing looks fancy because he does it so quick, he can run all alone from the field halfway, sad we don't see players like him anymore, these defenders looks like they just wants to kill him, amount of jumps he has to make while opponents slide tackling left and right is insane, that's the reason he had so many injuries, and impacted his career real bad.

I would say that he is probably the most gifted player that we have ever seen . He wasn’t able to play as many games as some but when he was fit he was pretty much unplayable and would sit down some of the worlds most accomplished defenders. Thanks for the beautiful memories you wonderful bastard.
