I left Brooklyn in '93 and I'm glad they are preserving these relics NY Subway has some of the prettiest tile work and designs and I'm happy it's still there.
Very informative and interesting! I don't know if I would call a mistake that people are making though. They likely just haven't noticed them or if they have they don't know what they are!
That’s a really cool feature to have on stations that have been progressively renovated over the years so there’s original features still preserved! :)
I did not know anything about the red poles in the subway station. I've never been on a subway train before but, I love learning from these great you tube video! They help me out a lot. Now all I have to do is learn which subway train to take from Hawthorne NY to The Empire State building. I'd appreciate any info people are willing to share. Thank you for your knowledge you share with us. Meredith
I've seen them for years but didn't know why they were there. Just based on the pillars in the middle of the walkway I figured they were part of the old IRT system before the MTA existed. It wasn't a mistake that I didn't know what the red squares meant though. It's just part of the hidden history of NYC.
I love all of your videos on NYC! ❤I enjoy learning about the history of New York. When my husband and son were alive we would always make a trip to NYC every Christmas. We loved how the city decorated for Christmas as well as the Rockefeller Christmas tree. ❤🎄
Cool! I subscribed immediately. Very informative and got a lot of interesting info in a short time but not short...it was too the point but not in a rushed way. I have never heard of these red fres but i am excited to look into all of them and the history behind all of it. Thanks for this greqt video!!
In ancient cathedrals, since they were meant as places to worship, glorify and praise God, architects put much meaning into their architecture. One form was to allow light to enter in a way which would increase the beauty of the place in which praise of God was performed.
The eagle has been used as a symbol of empire. Some think America was meant to be an empire. Regardless, there is always more than meets the eye. And knowing history is important.
Mary Miss [the artist] taught at my school, so I always paid attention to the old tiles. I'm glad they preserved it, but would prefer if they had left the station as it was. I first came to the city in 1980 and remember the "Sweet 14" program, in which they revamped the old Union Square station; the neighborhood was a true hell-hole at the time.
Bruh I was there today and I always c the red frames around the fence looking ting at the end and now it makes sense why. I never got close and I always thought it was little peep holes for people to look through even though it did;t make much sense.

I had no idea. I thought those red frames had something to do with the firefighters.
I’m at that station every day and never seemed to notice but now that I watch this I feel like I have 😂
So interesting. Now I know!

Have you ever visited Union State in Chicago? They have an area called the Great Hall. Even if you see photos of it, it is beautiful.

Never been to the US so I’ll keep that in mind! :)

They should’ve kept that style for the station

Awesome thanks 😊
You look so cute in this video!
That’s so cool! It’s always interesting how we can see the intersection of constant renovation while still honoring the historic charm.
I didn’t really know and I live in queens however very interesting to know
The eagle's shield appears to also have 14 stars on it.
the way she moved her hands and talked lol

i have not been to union square in yrs but thanks for the knowledge🎉
new yorkers mistakes? they don’t give 2 shits about it they just move on with their day
If not mistaken, didn’t they tore down some of the walls?
Pity that so much NYC history has been destroyed.
Si now I know!😛😛😛
Yes, but I want to say meh, because many of the OG IRT stations still have their ‘swag’
Love the shorts from the 1990's
Didn’t know that
Why couldnt they just restore the hole thing? Instead of leaving some peaces behind ?

Notice them but I thought they marked out load bearing areas.
Why did it sound awkward to me? Seemed normal but interesting vibe

Your very gorgeous lady
All this time I thought it was a designated urination spot for the long islanders when they visit the city on weekend.
Oh so that’s why those are there. Cool, how does this affect LeBrons Legacy
I make no mistakes🍻🍻🍻
Is it a station in NYC? It looks so scary. I've been to several developing countries. The stations were even better than this.
What about this station looks scary?
