The game has really nice music. Lots of pleasant melodies.

Not that you are wrong, you are right about pleasant melodies (also harmonies), but nice would be an underestimation, since HOMM II literally has one of the greatest OSTs in the history of VGM, similar goes to HOMM III, however HOMM II is opera heavy brilliance, there is big difference between them. A bit of that returned in HOMM IV, but HOMM II is still outstanding between them, especially if we count lyrics and variety of ideas and musical influences from different countries and cultures, classics based on Russian classic, Armenian, American, Italian, etc.. Truly outstanding OST by Paul Romero.
@@TrueNeutralEvGenius Yes, that's right. Luckily the GOG version of the game had the audio tracks integrated and I didn't have to make do with the MIDI mess. Especially with the town themes, the opera-like nature of the singing was relatively unique. I can't think of anything comparable in the games sector. Except maybe the theme song from Kings Bounty - Warriors of the North.
