If you have disposable cash then I believe by all means buy La Mer but there is no way I could ever justify spending that much money for any beauty products when there are so many wonderful options today:)
Same. I prefer Korean skincare which is extremely affordable. There’s nothing that will convince me expensive skincare works better. I’d buy Belif true creme moisturizer instead.
Michele, I meant to comment yesterday after watching this but, I had my 10 year old Granddaughter with me for a day and sleepover 😊❤. First, I applaud 👏🏻 you for your complete honesty about being a former smoker! I know that, even now at 63, I am hesitant about telling anyone that I smoked for 6 years (about 1/2 - 1 pack a day). I also think you are incredibly brave, in this day and age of judge mental attitudes, to say you wish you could have a cigarette (if it wasn’t such a deadly habit, of course!) Second, your skin looks like you 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 smoked or, were a sun worshiper😮!!?? I think your skin care and, your daily use of amazing products, is a testament to their effectiveness! Your skin looks amazing for any age ❤ I was not a sun worshipper because of my fair skin that always burns. However, as a 16 year old in the days when sunscreen meant staying out of the sun, I got 2nd degree burns from my face down the entire front of my body! The first warm day of spring I “laid out in the sun” with a friend who had a naturally Olive complexion. She used the old standard, baby oil and iodine?? and so did I. We both fell sound asleep in the sun ☀️ for at least 2 hours. I was not only severely burned but, I was physically sick from the burns. The doctor wouldn’t let me look in a mirror. He was sure I would have scarring. Thank God I didn’t! But, I was never burned on my face like that again! I also started using La Mer as soon as I knew about it. I could afford it only because I was making my own money by then and it became a priority. I don’t know 🤷🏼♀️ if it’s something that works for everyone. But, I do know that so far I have not had any skin cancers on my face. My neck, that I foolishly didn’t put the La Mer on, has had at least 2 basal cell cancers. Who knows if it’s a scam now because of different ingredients or no longer having the “miracle broth” or because Estée Lauder bought the company🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️. However, I have to say that it really did change and help my skin. Sorry this is so long🤦🏼♀️but, I had to let you know how amazing your skin looks and my own La Mer story.
@Jaqueline Boyles - I put my own La Mer story in comments here. But, full disclosure, when I was in my early 30’s I was recommended the Obagi series for sun damaged skin. Since that time, I have ALWAYS used a Dermatologist recommended skincare line that would penetrate below the epidermis. It’s changed over the years as to which products I’ve used. With newer products and versions it definitely changes and, yes, they do work better. I’ve used SkinMedica Skin Ceuticals, Dr. ZO, Alastin, TNS Serum, Avene, etc. My dermatologists’ have never recommended just La Mer for my 63 year old skin. However, my first Dermatologist I saw at 32 did say my skin looked great for someone who had suffered a 2nd degree burn especially to my face, neck and chest. So, you are right. However, I stand by it’s effectiveness back in the 1990’s. I still love it 🥰
Great recommendations. On the La Mer, 💯. There was just a question on social media a few days ago asking what is your splurge that’s worth it. A few of us said this. I have tried everything to try to dupe it, and nothing can match it for my dry skin. My mom went to 3 dermatologists for bumps on her forehead years ago, and nothing helped. I told her to get the concentrate, and within a couple weeks, it was gone. Another friend had radiation after breast cancer, and her skin was damaged. I told her this was formulated for burn victims, and it was worth the money to try it. She did and it worked. She raves about it to this day. The hype is real.
I love all my lamer products … and I’ve tried to replace them will more affordable options and it’s a big FAT NO I cannot go without all of them !!!!!!! 💗
Thanks Michele, love your recommendations. You have already put me onto the La Mer resurfacing treatment and I’ve just added the tonic to cart. The reviews for it on Mecca are amazing. One person titled their review ’La Mer toner magic’. 😊
I love Hinoki Exfoliating Body Wash. I love all the Tatcha products. My favorite is the indigo Body Cream. Tatcha sends the nicest thank you cards when I reorder.
As always, thank you the recommendations! Love separating skincare & fragrance from makeup. I’m looking forward to getting some Tatcha products, Jo Malone fragrance and the Shiseido SPF. I think I might try the Guerlain fragrances too.
Hi dear Michele, no Sephora here in The Netherlands, but alwyas love to know what you prefer to use, thanks a lot for another great video, have a wonderful day!!!🤩🤩😘😘🤩🤩😘😘
Nothing has healed my dry acne prone skin like The Ordinary Amino Acid serum and Resveratrol & Ferulic acid serum - I want to bathe in them and can’t live without them. I wish prices hadn’t gone up so much. It seems like Inky List and The Order were mostly under $10.
Totally agree about the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria line. When it was 40 degrees C here in the UK last summer (a *very* rare occurrence thankfully!!) I sprayed on several colognes including Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic which frankly I'd never fully appreciated until it was that hot. There is something about those Aqua Allegoria fragrances that come into their own once it gets above, say, 30 C.
Ok, you have made me a believer of purchasing La mer; your skin is beautiful. I would have never thought you were once a sun worshiper or smoker. I’m a southern girl. When I was younger Dairy Queen was my jam my favorites were Mister Misty’s, Blizzards and their chili dogs with extra chili❤ thank you Michele, looking forward to seeing what makeup you purchased from Sephora.
hello michele, i really like the explanation re lamer - i’d previously heard about having to apply their creams « the lamer way » & suspected it to be the way you described but it’s good to hear the details. i LOVE their base products from spf, primer, all foundations, all powders & the bronzer. like your explanation re the tonic, i’m amazed that i’m not an oil slilck using their products that seem to suit really all skin types. my tatcha body wash is working well but the rice face wash has a slightly more flimsy hinge so i do the same & just unscrew the entire top off. among their products all of which i pretty much love, their indigo handcream is fantastic !! you have no idea what limited means - sephora in singapore has a fraction of the US / French brands & selected number of products or shade range for each brand. this last point has nothing to do with the sale : for zesty floral fragrances you may wish to try chanel’s cristalle eau verte 💗
Hi Michele, new subscriber here and I love your channel! ❤ Also a La Mer lover and have also used it for 25+ years on my combination skin. It’s the brand I always go back to, having tried numerous other luxury and non-luxury skincare brands. Love the Treatment Lotion, the moisturizing cream (for night), the soft cream (for day), the eye serum and eye concentrate which plump up fine lines and are a MUST under makeup! Also love their spf 50 as a makeup base. The reformulated soft cream is a little thicker now and feels much more like a texture in between the cream and lotion than before. I’ve never used the Tonic but it’s on my shopping list now :) Thanks for all your skincare and makeup recommendations ❤ However I do find their moisturizing cream a little difficult to thoroughly remove in the morning and need to use a foaming cleanser (from CPB, less drying on my cheeks).
I soooo agree on the Soleil Neige body oil. I tried it on holiday in greece last year and I was kinda disappointed when the perfume didn't smell the same. 😅
PS. I was 3acks a day too ... until I had a big heart attack - quit immediately and have not touched a cigarette for 12 years now but oh I miss them still! 😊
Tatcha Hinoki fan ... I am weak and have no issue squeezing it out. I love the Oil and Lotion too in the Hinoki line and smell so good after in such a subtle way. The Bader rich cream set with the small and large containers are usually a good deal too. Taking notes ...
I am starting to really feel that we are getting duped tremendously by these uber expensive prices. What is the point of spending all this money if it's not really going to take actual years off your face...and then we're told that in the end the only thing that will really change your face is some kind of work by a doctor?
Absolutely love your skincare picks as well as the bodycare. I use all of them as well with my very dry skin. Sadly I can't order from here and Sephora France doesn't carry all of the brands but I usually order the products from the UK which works fine too. Thank you so much for sharing Michele!😘
I have used the La Mer toner, definitely great, cream I have not tried, heard so so reviews especially if you don't have dry skin...might try the soft cream so it is not as thick. But there are definitely kinder to your pockets alternative out there!
Love the idea of separating recommendations into two shows. And love your humor-if only I had some La Mer in a fertilizer sized bottle (I thought it reminiscent of a laundry detergent size bottle)
One of my biggest spending regrets was La Mer. Nothing about it was special except that extraordinary price tag. "Miracle Broth" as an ingredient? Puh-leeze. There are so many better moisturizers out there for much less money. Now I buy moisturizers with DNA repair enzymes that actually repair prior sun damage. Now that's an item that actually does something. Sorry to rant. I love your channel, but La Mer triggers the beast in me. :)
thanks so much for the recommendations, would love to try the Barbara Sturm hyluronic serum but sadly w/ the conversion it's $410 cdn..8)...eek-sad times.....will have to try and find something comparable. Definitely going to try and get the Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair....
I like this in two parts I really want to get the tatcha. It’s in my cart. And about 25 other things 😂😂😂😂I will watch and edit like always. I’m sure I Jane more of your makeup picks. I know what’s on your cheeks. Ummmm yes please
Hi Michele. Thanks for another great video. Love your honesty and most of your recommendations. Just wanted to ask you how you feel about the difference between the Dr. Sternum Hyaluronic Acid serum vs. the ordinary one? Any thoughts?
Michele, have you ever tried the Nivea cream that comes in the blue tin/tub? I've heard people say it's very similar to La Mer but much less expensive.
I’m of the opinion that la mer is amazing AND the “miracle broth” story is a scam. But I have sensitive skin, and there are times when la mer is the only moisturizer I can use. Despite the price tag, I’ve been using it for years.
16:43 Welcome to the French language!😂 thank you for sharing your recommendations with us! Do you have any hand cream recs (doesn’t have to be from Sephora)?
Hi @Michele I am LaMer fan myself for few years now. I have also heard you talking about AugustinusBader RichCream, that will also is available at Sephora sale. How do you suggest comparing both products.
I used the treatment lotion by la mer for 2 years it has become a staple in my skin care. It really keeps the moisture in my skin… but that’s it from La Mer… not a fan of the creams.
`I miss the Tatcha Luminous Dewy skin night concentrate sooo much! Does anyone have any idea why it was discontinued? I messaged Tatcha and they just told me that it was a very popular product but did not tell me why it is no longer sold
You may like to try the Cle de Peau cleansing foam - it’s the only foam cleanser I’ve used that doesn’t dry out my combination skin. And I need a foam cleanser in the morning to thoroughly remove the rich la Mer cream I use at night
I just recently started using the CeraVe body cream and absolutely love it. I actually ordered it through Amazon. I have used so many body creams over the past, and this is the only one that has worked for my extremely dry skin, and it does not leave a film. My body skin feels smooth and not greasy, and for the price, you can't go wrong!
I'm a massive fan of the Ligne St. Barth Avocado Oil, I've used up bottles over bottles of this. As far as I know it's both vegan & cruelty free but very(!) pricey. Worth the money tho. 👌🏻
