    I love this... So many of the other Horse Stance videos show you just the stance itself-but not how to develop the strength and flexibility to hold it. Thank you so much!

    Good video.

    • @freddy_h3872
      @freddy_h3872 4 года назад

      The description is completely wrong with respects to how she does it though. Like literally nothing she does is what is written on screen.
      • Her feet are not “a bit” more than shoulder width apart. It’s more like double shoulder width.
      • Her feet are not parallel, they are pointing slightly but significantly outwards.
      • Her knees are not bent 90°, they are more like 60° (I measured). Her thighs are however parallel with the ground.
      Edit: Please note I’m not saying her stance is wrong (it’s excellent). I’m saying the description is wrong.

    Jade Xu does not need anybody's approval to be a legitimate Laureate and a champion. She earned it through hard work. So, trying to police an imaginative wrong foot position is a deliberate way to downplay her wonderful attributes. Adrian Garcia, did you participate in the Olympic Games? I don't think so. Envy consumes you, don't spit your venom here.

      Virginia I've trained with her in China and saw here when she was a child very impressive you would not last one minute in a Chinese martial art class traditional or contemporary you have no idea what real martial arts is and the best teachers I found were in the small villages and that was in the early eighties

    • @StefWillemse
      @StefWillemse 7 лет назад +1

      @Virginia That's because this is Modern wushu, not the traditional Kung Fu you are thinking about.

    In Wushu, there are sequence movements that require the performer to hold there stance. This is also a good exercise to build up quad strength. Stance is easy to do, just watch the video.

    As far as Shaolin (external) arts are concerned the lower is arched like her back for horse stances or any symmetrical squat like posture of any width. The same holds true for doing squats with weights (power lifting) in a gym whether the feet are narrow or far apart. In a bow stance (non symmetrical stance), the opposite is true for the lower back. In a bow stance the LOWER back is more hunched than arched. Other styles may do horse posters differently than shaolin styles.

    awesome video! Could you explain a little bit more about the Horse Stance? One Shoiln once explained it´s a basic exercise shown to kids to learn not to give up because that posture is very painful if untrained and hold on for a long time. I guess there is much more knowledge and benefits behind it!?

    In Wushu class we do it like this: After arriving we are stretching Head to toe and Front split each side for 5 Minutes. So we are stretching cold for 20-25 Minutes. Then to consolidate our tendons we are doing 5 Minutes of MaBU. Then we practice basic stances ,then basic kicks and jump kicks. after all of that we do forms. i alwaysa feel good doing training ( and afterwards) and i havent get an injurie yet. For some reason i cant imagine me practicing like this at home ,because you always hear things like : You need always to do an general warm up ,otherwise you can injure youself. What do you think of this Practicing Method? in this case Mabu ( and switching Pu BU ) is the Warm Up ,also the Basic kicks are the Warm up. How does it sound for you?

    I more or less agree with you. I prefer to avoid having my knee pass the toe line as well as aim for as upright a posture as I can manage when called for, and you're right that the strength and flexibility requirements are different. I personally don't know about knees in front of the heels being "incorrect." But if you could manage a horse stance with thighs parallel to the ground and knees right above the heels, then that would indeed train some nice strength! Work to an ideal, but be fluid...
