This could’ve just been a random city, BludHaven has nothing to actually do with this story, it’s like the creator missed the point of this city and tried to make it seem more important than it was, this should’ve been about characters like Dick Grayson fighting criminals, crime lords and more to get his city back and out of the deeper shit hole than it’s usually is. It’s like taking a Western and making a entire storyline about time traveling Nazi’s fighting Aliens fighting Nuclear Mechs while ignoring the Main Character of this settings series as well as any Main Antagonist

Your speech at 6:30 is perfect, I really want to send this to one of my peers in the indie comic book community (I can't because we have to be on good terms), but it sums up my thoughts on his "mini-comic" perfectly. I won't get into too many details of what he published and spare you the headache of a political debate. But long story short, it comes off as his rancid political mouthpiece. In addition it's lazy storytelling, instead of a story about someone who goes mad with power or someone trying to utilize public outrage over something for their own desires, they're 1-dimensional villains who don't even get names. I talked to one of the people there and the response I got is "we're trying to be like Marvel and explore real issues." You're not exploring them, exploring means you'd see more than one side. In addition yes you're addressing "real issues", but in a way that's unreal...and I'm not just talking about a guy with superpowers fixing everything. ...sorry for the rant, I apologize. Anyway keep up the awesome work, I really don't know how you have courage to get into stuff like this, Holy Terror, etc. and deal with some of the aftermath in your comments section.
Ya know what a better comic story that had a similar sinario is? The batman no mans land arc.in it Gotham had suffered from a major quack and it took them a year to rebuild.it actually made some good arguments of what was morally acceptable in these situations.
I swear, every time I hear the name "Black Baron," I think of that one character from the Wii game MadWorld. It doesn't help that both characters style themselves as pimps. The only difference is that MadWorld is actually *good*. Ridiculously gory and brutally violent? Yes. But good.

I personally found the Black Baron to be the most annoying and the absolute WORST character in this entire mini-series. And considering this mini-series also features that lunatic known as "Firebrand", that is saying something.

They're both pretentious, downright confusing, have NO reason to actually happen, have only one agreeable moment (Monolith for Battle for Bludhaven, the music video in the middle of Southland Tales), tries to make someone we can't find in ourselves to give a damn about into a pseudo Jesus figure, has a weird fascination with pimps, and the ending is delivered like a slap to the face by Hazama (Look up "Trollzama"), mocking us for sticking this far and leaving us with a feeling of wasted time and incredible rage and confusion.
Love the jokes, but as I am not an active comic reader. The writing for the plot lines after the review are what I look forward to the most. Very well done, Linkara.

5:40 this is the cliché that always bugs me you have a character who supposed to be incredibly powerful and you haven't yet seen him or her do their stuff yet they're learning about the world and how do you know they're going to be evil? To be honest, sitting here in 2023, a lot of the complaints have about the book hit different. Like, we got to the part about the wall and I'm just like "yeah, I can see the Government wasting billions on an incomplete wall that doesn't keep people out." Hell, Firebrand doesn't really sound that whiny at all tbh. Like, we've seen so many protests violently stopped in 2021, so many reporters intentionally shot in the eye and blinded by cops, and so many women molested by cops when being arrested at the protest for nonviolence offenses that well, yeah, opposing the government when it steps on ya isn't that whiny of a prospect. Living in an actual decaying dystopia makes what we saw as whiny just hit different.
Also, I just got to the part where Firebrand is like "see corrupt politicians and the corporations who own the media are in bed with each other" and, like, that isn't a conspiracy theory. That's literally just a fact. The founder of Fox News made the platform with the goal of flooding America with so much disinformation that another Watergate could never happen again. In the sense that America would never hold someone accountable for such actions again. Like a corrupt billionaire who owns a multibillionaire media company specifically made said news company to make sure his political party could not be held accountable for their corruption. And that's from the horse's mouth. Then you got Alex Jones, OAN, etc. Like, honestly, I'm not sure Linkara is right that the book is siding with Firebrand. I think its trying to make fun of people who complain like Firebrand does. Like, Linkara compared it to those old pieces shitting on hippies and like yeah? Yeah, it kind of is that. But it isn't a change of viewpoint, I think. I think the idea is to make Firebrand seem unhinged and unreliable especially when compared to Robin and Cyborg calmly telling Firebrand the world is more complicated than that. To be honest, sitting here in 2023, a lot of the complaints have about the book hit different. Like, we got to the part about the wall and I'm just like "yeah, I can see the Government wasting billions on an incomplete wall that doesn't keep people out." Hell, Firebrand doesn't really sound that whiny at all tbh. Like, we've seen so many protests violently stopped in 2021, so many reporters intentionally shot in the eye and blinded by cops, and so many women molested by cops when being arrested at the protest for nonviolence offenses that well, yeah, opposing the government when it steps on ya isn't that whiny of a prospect. Living in an actual decaying dystopia makes what we saw as whiny just hit different.
Yeeeeeaaaaaah.
Also, I just got to the part where Firebrand is like "see corrupt politicians and the corporations who own the media are in bed with each other" and, like, that isn't a conspiracy theory. That's literally just a fact. The founder of Fox News made the platform with the goal of flooding America with so much disinformation that another Watergate could never happen again. In the sense that America would never hold someone accountable for such actions again. Like a corrupt billionaire who owns a multibillionaire media company specifically made said news company to make sure his political party could not be held accountable for their corruption. And that's from the horse's mouth. Then you got Alex Jones, OAN, etc.
Like, honestly, I'm not sure Linkara is right that the book is siding with Firebrand. I think its trying to make fun of people who complain like Firebrand does. Like, Linkara compared it to those old pieces shitting on hippies and like yeah? Yeah, it kind of is that. But it isn't a change of viewpoint, I think. I think the idea is to make Firebrand seem unhinged and unreliable especially when compared to Robin and Cyborg calmly telling Firebrand the world is more complicated than that.
