- Hi friends! I've been wanting to replace the black frame on our Frame TV for a while now, but the gold frame that I love is over $500 on Amazon. Yikes! So, I thought we'd try to build our own! This project was pretty simple and only took a weekend to complete. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and we saved so much money by building it ourselves! ♥️

Welcome to the RUclips channel of House + Holm! I'm a mama of three sweet little ones and am married to my middle school sweetheart! My passion for home renovation, design and decorating took off when my husband and I purchased our first home, a 100 year old 1300sq/ft house. Since then, we have renovated four homes. This channel was born out of a love for sharing about our online interior decor store, House + Holm. After three years of investing in our shop, we felt called to close our online doors and prioritize raising our kids and being present at home. If you choose to be a part of our RUclips family, you can expect to see all things home! I’ll take you along as we continue to do renovations, offer styling tips, share my favorite products, DIY’s, recipes and more. I'm so glad you’re here!
Blessings,

Earlier this evening I commented on this picture on Instagram not realizing it was a frame TV. This was great! Chad is very talented!
Awww thank you! I agree, he's the best! 👏
Simply amazing. I’m going to apply this method on my newly purchased 92 that now is placed over my metallic wall paper mural Thank you so much. You and your husband ROCK.
Chad you did amazing job!
He's amazing!!!! 👏
I'm in total awe! The coolest DIY ever. Soooo Gorgeous
Awww thank you! We’re so happy with it!
It turned out beautiful! Love the strap idea, so clever!
Glad you like it!
just wow, room looks great!
I did wonder about the sensor to switch on/off. Great idea ! Can’t wait to try something similar. Thank you for the video 😊
It looks gorgeous!! You & your husband did such a great job!!🥰
Thank you so much!
Skye, your frame turned out beautifully! Chad is one talented guy!😊
I think so too! Thank you, Sarah!
The frame turned out great. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely! Thank you for watching!
Your frame turned out beautifully!!! It is so nice to have such a handy husband!
Isn’t that the truth!? 😅😉 I’m so thankful that he’s up for helping with these projects.
I love it when someone does a project the right way lol. Well done
Aww thank you!
I most certainly did enjoy this video. I learned a lot. The finished design was so lovely! What a great job Chad did. You both are so very talented. The picture light above the tv was the perfect finishing touch.
The fact that you saved a lot of money is just the best!
Way to go!!! 🎉
I couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for watching! So glad you enjoyed it!
Love how it turned out! Looks so good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you friend!
The frame turned out so nice. Hard work paid off on this project. Impressive.
Yes! Thank you!
Excellent tutorial. I've never seen anyone put straps on the back. Great idea!
We thought that was a good idea, with the kids bouncing around heheheh! Just wanted to make sure we had it up there nice and secure! 😂
Wow sweetheart so beautiful and as always your Hubby did a great job!! Love the details and the lighting! Be Blessed
Thank you, sweet friend! So glad you love it too!
Looks great.
Thanks!
Looks great!! Definitely going to make one 😊
YAY! I hope you do!
Love it!! I shared the video to my husband so he can do it for me
YAY! 🎉
Amazing job!!! We don’t always need to spend a lot of money to get a high end look. Very inspirational and I don’t even have a frame TV.
Very true! I'm glad you enjoyed this one! ♥️
Love this tutorial. I also saw another RUclipsr - Macenna use the same idea of using the straps on the back.
Yes! Love her!
The BEST
Watching now. Excited about finding out several things on this video, including how to get the still picture on the TV. We have been building a house for a year and have our final walk through today in just a couple of hours!!
Awesome! Thank you! I didn’t go too much into making a regular TV look like a frame TV, but here’s an article I just found that may give you some ideas! parade.com/living/how-to-turn-a-regular-tv-into-a-frame-tv
Such a helpful tutorial, thank you!
You're so welcome!
I'm not usually into what's in style and whatnot, but this is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you, Alma! ☺️🤍 This was a fun project!
@@houseandholm you're welcome, friend. I bet.
Well done 😮❤
Thank you!
What a great job you both did on this project! Wow! I don't have a Frame TV but it is my next tv when my current one bites the dust! I also have looked at the frames and the one I liked came in at around $500. Chad just does such a meticulous job whenever he does a project....like my husband. I don't have that gene, I guess! And to be honest, I'm not into that part of it so it's nice to have someone else who can take that over! I recently bought a smaller framed mirror at Hobby Lobby and I wanted to tone down the gold so I may try that Rub and Buff.
Thank you! He’s the best! I’m so thankful for a handy husband!
Rub n buff is such a handy thing to have around! I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!
We love our frame TVs! They’re an investment for sure, but totally worth it!
I did this to my tv as well but never thought about putting a strap on the back sides to hold it in place! I used a box frame to cover the sides and have it resting on the tv because mine sits away from the wall! Love the style and design you and your hubby did very classy farmhouse
Oh I love that!!!
Amazing! Your Chad is such a talent!
He sure is! Thank you, Jayne! 🤍
Very pretty.
Thank you! 😊
Can't wait to see how you decorate for fsll
I’m so excited for Fall! 🍁
You and MaCenna had the same idea😊. Great job
Thank you! 🥰
this is awesome great work, but your hand positions when shooting some of them nails was having me on edge 🤣 😅😅
This Frame TV is gaining in popularity.
It’s such a good one!
Omg xomaccenna did the same thing. Both are beautiful and i cant wait to copy it.
She is such an inspiration! I hope you give it a try!
This is awesome Chad n Skye, Great job, how beautiful! I am thinking of doing a framed tv well having a contractor to do it as we are finishing our basement, it is very u finished n been on the to do for awhile, n finally got a contractor but hoping to keep it in our price range n that’s changed this year, so see what it all comes out to be like? Thank u so much for sharing n great video to u both! 😊❤️🎁💕⭐️
How exciting! I am sure it'll turn out beautifully!! Thanks so much for watching! I hope you are having a wonderful Summer!
About to attempt this, have you had issues with the motion sensor being affected? Where when you walk in the room and it’s asleep it automatically goes back to art mode?
How far from the edge do you put the corner wood pieces that sit on the tv?
Awesome job! Is there a way to avoid making the hole in the frame?
Thank you! That’s a great question. Not that we’ve found, but the hole is small enough that you don’t really notice it. 🙂
Good day how do u let d tv sensor work isn't it blocked by the frame pls reply
We drilled a hole into the frame where the sensor on the tv is and it works perfectly!
Could you send me a link for the picture light you used above the T.V.?????? Please??? And the turnout was just amazing you have a great eye & talented husband ❤️❣️❣️❣️
Yes, of course! I totally forgot to link that one! 🤦♀️ amzn.to/464SytL
@@houseandholmI assumed it was a battery powered one since it didn’t look like you wired it - so did you just put it up for looks? I may do the same! Just bought a frame tv for my family room on our main floor and since we’ll be installing it lower than I would install actual artwork, there’s a bit of dead space above it. Panel molding is a good solution, but not for me just because of the surrounding windows and curtains. I hadn’t even considered putting art lights above it. That’s a great idea.
Yep, since the screen is lit, I didn’t want to power the light and cause a glare/reflection, so we didn’t even wire it. It’s simply there for looks. It fills the space and reinforces that it’s just art on the wall. Almost everyone that comes in to our house doesn’t realize that it’s a TV.
Hey - what dimensions did you guys use for the inital frame pine board cuts?
Did you just use the TV dimensions, or did you size it down a bit to eliminate the black TV frame edge?
Hi! I don’t recall the dimensions off the top of my head, but we made the frame match the size of the black tv frame edge. We didn’t want to go any smaller because it would have impeded the tv picture slightly.
@@houseandholm agree. That was my thought, but no one's video specifically calls out how they determined to the dimensions to cut the frame at, so I had some second thoughts before I started cutting!
Thanks for the reply!
Do you find that the sensor still works ok with the little hole?
Yes! It works just fine!
Did you hardwire the light?
Hi! We didn’t hardwire the light because it would just create a glare on the TV. Since it’s already powered, we chose not to use the light, but mounted it to give the appearance of an art light.
That you so much. It looks really nice!
Where is the light from, is it battery operated?
It is not battery operated, however I’m sure you could find one that is! We did not hook ours up to electricity because we don’t need a light shining on our TV. ☺️ amzn.to/464SytL
great job.. woulda love to see it at night
It’s Lovely, Sky.🫶🏻
Thank you, Sarah! 🥰
