  • Hi friends! I've been wanting to replace the black frame on our Frame TV for a while now, but the gold frame that I love is over $500 on Amazon. Yikes! So, I thought we'd try to build our own! This project was pretty simple and only took a weekend to complete. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and we saved so much money by building it ourselves! ♥️

    Welcome to the RUclips channel of House + Holm! I'm a mama of three sweet little ones and am married to my middle school sweetheart! My passion for home renovation, design and decorating took off when my husband and I purchased our first home, a 100 year old 1300sq/ft house. Since then, we have renovated four homes. This channel was born out of a love for sharing about our online interior decor store, House + Holm. After three years of investing in our shop, we felt called to close our online doors and prioritize raising our kids and being present at home. If you choose to be a part of our RUclips family, you can expect to see all things home! I’ll take you along as we continue to do renovations, offer styling tips, share my favorite products, DIY’s, recipes and more. I'm so glad you’re here!
    Blessings,

    What a great job you both did on this project! Wow! I don't have a Frame TV but it is my next tv when my current one bites the dust! I also have looked at the frames and the one I liked came in at around $500. Chad just does such a meticulous job whenever he does a project....like my husband. I don't have that gene, I guess! And to be honest, I'm not into that part of it so it's nice to have someone else who can take that over! I recently bought a smaller framed mirror at Hobby Lobby and I wanted to tone down the gold so I may try that Rub and Buff.

    I did this to my tv as well but never thought about putting a strap on the back sides to hold it in place! I used a box frame to cover the sides and have it resting on the tv because mine sits away from the wall! Love the style and design you and your hubby did very classy farmhouse

      @@houseandholmI assumed it was a battery powered one since it didn’t look like you wired it - so did you just put it up for looks? I may do the same! Just bought a frame tv for my family room on our main floor and since we’ll be installing it lower than I would install actual artwork, there’s a bit of dead space above it. Panel molding is a good solution, but not for me just because of the surrounding windows and curtains. I hadn’t even considered putting art lights above it. That’s a great idea.

    • @houseandholm
      @houseandholm  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, since the screen is lit, I didn’t want to power the light and cause a glare/reflection, so we didn’t even wire it. It’s simply there for looks. It fills the space and reinforces that it’s just art on the wall. Almost everyone that comes in to our house doesn’t realize that it’s a TV.

  • @rmf1981

    Hey - what dimensions did you guys use for the inital frame pine board cuts?
    Did you just use the TV dimensions, or did you size it down a bit to eliminate the black TV frame edge?

    • @houseandholm
      @houseandholm  2 месяца назад

      Hi! I don’t recall the dimensions off the top of my head, but we made the frame match the size of the black tv frame edge. We didn’t want to go any smaller because it would have impeded the tv picture slightly.

    • @rmf1981
      @rmf1981 2 месяца назад

      @@houseandholm agree. That was my thought, but no one's video specifically calls out how they determined to the dimensions to cut the frame at, so I had some second thoughts before I started cutting!

    • @houseandholm

      Hi! We didn’t hardwire the light because it would just create a glare on the TV. Since it’s already powered, we chose not to use the light, but mounted it to give the appearance of an art light.
