  • The Bureau of Land Management is currently deciding how public land east of Fairbanks, Alaska, will be used for the next 20-30 years. Plans involve opening areas including the White Mountains National Recreation Area, the Steese National Conservation Area, the Upper Black River and the Fortymile area to new mining and development. These areas were set aside to protect outstanding recreation opportunities and significant scenic and cultural values, with deep roots in Native Alaskan heritage.
Urge the Bureau of Land Management to adopt an alternative management plan to keep protecting these critical lands.
