Thanks for posting the follow up vid. Sooooo many good lessons to learn here, and you covered them well. Thanks for sharing this experience and using it as a great teaching moment.
I'll be sharing it with my teenage boys, who often tell me they know better than I do about being extra safe. They don't. ;-)

Thanks man I appreciate it. I was there once too. Thought I was invinceable and knew more than my folks. Lucky for me I had parents like you that kept instilling a positive message (sometimes until they were blue in the face) but as we get older we realize how right our parents were. I hope you have a great weekend buddy!

Thanks for the update Bran. The worst thing a person can see is their partner in pain. Please give her our best wishes and we are hoping for a speedy recovery and return to riding.

That was certainly a traumatic day for all three of you, so glad the injuries weren’t any worse and that you received fantastic care. It just looked like a freak accident, I don’t think there’s any call for any dented pride. The unfortunate incident may well have had a positive outcome as a result of your great shout out regarding the wearing of full safety gear. Hope to see you both riding soon. Best wishes.

I hope this doesn't deter her from riding again. Thank God she wasn't hurt real bad. She may think twice before riding through water puddle again.

In 2011 I lost my stepson to a motorcycle accident. He was buying a bike that was a little bigger than what he was used to and was only a block from his house when he must have slipped on some rock in the road he fell at a low speed and hit his head. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital but was put on life support. If he would have been wearing a helmet he would have walked away from it. I haven't ridden a motorcycle since. My wife and I were in the process of buying a bike at the time of the accident.

I'm sorry to hear that Scott and my condolences to you and your wife. As a parent myself I cant imagine the pain of losing a child. This is one of the reasons I posted this video, to share with others the importance of wearing protective gear. I had a mishap myself recently that could have been avoided if I was wearing gear. God Bless you and your wife.
