Don't blame the money, blame your ADs and your commissioners. Before Texas got their tv deal, your members voted down a tv deal. When Tx went and got their own deal the rest were mad. The writing has been on the wall a long time. The Big 12 sat on their hands while other conferences continued to get better.

@@mikeb3936 Bingo! The B12 was the most backward thinking conference of them all. When Colorado and Nebraska left it should have blew up then. The hire of Blowsbee was even a worse decision. College athletics, NCAA they are already dead. When they came up with the Transfer Portal, when college athletes can be paid for their likeness, it is already tits up. Now "universities" can pay for talent, the best athletes go to one of 20 or so schools, the rest are going to be playing junior varsity ball. 12-team playoffs? 6 of the teams will come from the SEC. We are already watching the pros play in college.

Texas Tech will go to the PAC-12. Carnegie tier 1 research university, 40,000+ students, national powerhouses in basketball and baseball. Traditionally a very good football program, just not in the last 10 years. Texas Tech has a huuuuge presence in Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. Tech is 3rd biggest brand in Texas behind UT and then A&M. And actually within Texas, A&M isn’t that much bigger a brand than TT if at all. Tech will add a lot to the athletics of the pac-12 and academically as well. Also money wise, Texas Tech’s fan base and brand is 100x larger than Baylor and TCU’s because they are small private schools. That would mean major revenue for the pac-12 throughout Texas when airing Texas Tech games

As a Oregon Duck fan not sure how I feel about all of this yet. Does this move cause all other conferences outside the SEC to become irrelevant. All the best tv deals going to the sec, all the best recruits going to big name brand sec schools, all the money going to the SEC. I just don’t know. Does this move make big name brand programs like USC, Oregon, and UCLA have no relevance nationally anymore. (Ik USC and UCLA haven’t been as good as of late but their brand still means a lot)

Ikr. None of this was happening or even imaginable a couple years ago. Now we have players making money, gambling, and now perhaps a complete collapse of college football with the exception of the SEC.
Idk maybe everything will fix itself and be just fine. My only hope is that all 4 super conferences stay relevant in the same way they are now. The big 10 still means something, the big 12 still means something, the acc too, even the pac 12 which is the worst conference of them all still has meaning. All these conferences and there respective big name brand schools with their history and son is what makes college football so rich
The SEC use to not be a great conference. It was the ACC schools like FSU, Miami, and so on at one point. Then at another time in history it was the big 10 with Ohio st, Michigan, penn st historic winning traditions at the top, and at one point it was the pac 12 with USC, and UCLA and Washington, and Oregon.
But now with this move it’s hard to envision parity. All the collegiate money, great TV deals, and best recruits will all be poured into one single conference cause a collapse of college football everywhere else.
Maybe I’m really really wrong and as an Oregon duck fan I hope that I am.

Maybe not on this round of conference realignment, but I think we are on a path where the BIG and SEC can pick apart Whats left of the ACC and PAC 12 and form 2 mega conferences as a part of their own league where the NCAA is defunct. But, IF that happens it's a way down the road. For now, BIG 12 is history, and PAC 12 is next.

@@tmcc9867 yeah I’ve thought about it more and listened to some more people talk about. I think I feel overall better about it now. This may also help recruiting as well by playing games in Texas and Oklahoma. Do you think it’s more likely Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA join the big 12 or the pac 12 stay as as is with the addition of a couple of big 12 schools or an alignment with the big 10. Sooo many options. I think all in all USC, Oregon, UCLA, and Washington will be safe and most likely won’t really be harmed by this Texas Oklahoma move after all as their brands (especially Oregon, USC, and UCLA) have a big enough brand in their local region and nationally that they’ll be fine plus all the money those 3 schools get USC is loaded with money, UCLA as well, and of course Oregon has all that Nike money and they have great boosters. It’s the other schools that might get hit the hardest. The Arizona’s, the Oregon states and Washington states and many others. Those programs are already bottom feeders and this could make it even worst which maybe takes away the parity and Cinderella stories.
