Warms my heart someone 10 minutes down the road is giving these cars some attention! When i was 19 i got given a 1992 VZV21 Camry (JDM v6 version of the SV21) with the 2VZ-FE from my grandpa when he passed away and 5 years later i still can't bring myself to sell it! These cars will probably outlive all of us, well done on bring her back to her former glory. Can't wait to see the turbo job!
I have a 1996 Toyota Camry with the 3L V6 and was pleasantly surprised by how quick it was when I give it full throttle mine is an automatic wish it was stick but really enjoying it with only 150k miles I'm Happy
Hey Lachlan! Dont listen to pretty boy, you weren't holding anyone back. You're adding value to the TEAM bro. Don't let that pretty boy talk to you like that bro. That's called "casual disrespect."
Inherited my late Dad's 3VZFE,manual. Restored and got it going after standing a few years. I'm love driving it, I find jumping into it more than my N55 135i Beemer...
The engine note is glorious, sometimes on my way to and from work I like to have a bit of fun launching from red lights...nobody ever expects a mid 90s camry to be able to get wheel spin I only wish I hadn't totalled my wagon...it had the 3vz in it, I would've loved to do a manual swap and add a low boost turbo, would've been an amazing couch to launch.
Speaking from someone who currently has a suspended license. Just be careful about getting caught mate 🤙 Though an old camery might have to be my future beater car 😍
Why not make 200kw to the camry front wheels. Reinforce the transmission with better clutch and probs p ujt a short shifter along with some grippy tires
3vzfe heads are trash? lolwut, yamaha designed heads were crazy - even bone stock the torque is insane. You can get 18-22 kW (25-30 HP) just by porting and polishing alone. 92-93 year engines could gain an extra 7 kW by adjusting the air flow meter to burn more lean, and adjusting the ignition timing to 17 degrees. This engine is good for at least 300 kW, people have pushed it to 450 kW before...
@@Zenzuu depends what engine it is. I'm assuming you got the 2gr, im not as familiar with that engine as i am the 3vz. I do know that people have boosted it though. At least one person boosted the 2gr in their lotus elise to 3.5 psi and got ~360 hp at the wheels. Mind you, the elise is probably a lot lighter than a camry. 5 psi and below is considered low, but it should make daily driving much more fun, especially since these engines have quite a bit of torque, good for start and stop traffic. Porting and polishing heads always gives a decent amount of gains but at the cost of lower end torque. If you're p&p in preparation for turbo the torque thing shouldn't really matter as much since the turbo is going to compensate for that. But usually toyota F heads (F = fuel economy, G = performance (valves are more angled in G heads compared to F heads e.g. 4a-fe vs 4a-ge) have more tuning opportunity than G heads, often outperforming them, even if only a little bit. You can also check out your exhaust pipe - a fairly common upgrade is to have an exhaust shop fab up a much better collector for the front y pipe - the stock y pipe ends in an awful merge which chokes the flow. This is probably the best power upgrade, value for money/time wise since it would probably cost a few hundred bucks and only take a day or two at an exhaust shop. If you can fab up the pipes yourself, you can save several hundred bucks. Google aurion y pipe upgrade and you'll see a decent number of threads about the subject
Did you swap in the 3VZ-FE. The 1992-1993 here in the states had the 3VZ-FE and the 1994-1996 had the 1MZ-FE Which my moms 1994 V6 LE has that car is quick the only things it don’t have is leather and a moon roof. So seeing this Camry with the V6 and XLE wheels but no power options is different/odd
Great video buddy. I have the 2.2 Camry and I am very curious on how the 3.0 does. Is it reliable does it have any issues will it hold up for several thousand miles?
I just want to say I own a 93 full banga 5 Speed and I believe it's got just as much pep is the V6 and I got a CAI and exhaust work I feed it VP octane booster with pump 93 and it moves quite well I was wondering if you guys would think it's a good idea to advance timing at the distributor to try to maybe extract a couple more HP I've seen it done to the MR2 2.2
Rex , trust me.. that camry is faster than the MR2 haha , also PLEASE PUT THE MANUAL IN THR WHITE OG CAMRY!!!! (or better yet.. just put the whole drive train in the MR2.. (; )

You have never driven one if you think that, I've driven many sports cars and a v6 camry with a 5 speed gearbox is up there, torque and power, it will surprise you
I'd rather drive a manual V6 Camry than an econobox or SUV. Australias most sold vehicles are typically utes/offroaders (Ranger, Triton, Landcruiser) or automotive whiteware (Mazda 3, CX-5, Hyundai i30, ASX etc.) and often mated to a slushbox.

Omg, what a beautiful sounding engine. Even after all these years!
