SPYRAL played double summon? I wasn't playing that format but geez..was it only intended to have players dodge Ash when getting your additional summon?
@@DuelingNetwork100 Brilliant Fusion puts an extra monster on the board in the extra monster zone that you can't link into double helix. Hey don't hate the Ash Blossom copy too much. They just wanted searchable Ash in their Agents deck. Never mind the screw up in the OPT clause, or the fact that it's a loli Boo-hime in the art. They just want easily searchable hand traps in archetypes that already support insane levels of negation effects (Heralds, Counter Fairies)
The lizard drawing card “Ipiria” seems really similar to Sacred Crane, which is an actual Yu-Gi-Oh card that lets you draw every time it’s special summoned (not once per turn). Nobody plays Sacred Crane, so I doubt anyone would play Ipiria in the current game.
Ipiria is a real card in the game, only it's effect is a hard once per turn and it's actually a Lv 2 EARTH Reptile, not a Lv 3! I run a playset in my T.G. deck to give them extra draw power (cuz, you know, T.G. have none of that!) and to play into Link 3 with Trident Launcher or, since I run Naturias Barkion and Beast, to go with Synchro Magnet as I can always use Striker and Rush Rhino!
Ipiria is from the OG Duel Monsters anime, a lot of people now just put anime exclusives on Dueling book so they can do character duels, it’s not so much as it’s OP as it is strictly what the anime effect does
Makes me want to make a space marine archetype. Use Doomguy, master chief, etc. Something like a pulse grenade equip spell card in which it can only be equipped to a space marine monster and send the equipped spell to the graveyard during main phase 2 to target and destroy 1 monster on the field and then destroy 1 monster next to the target. Once per turn effect and can't be used if the space marine monster attacked that turn. Perhaps a suicide effect of if the equipped monster was destroyed by battle, destroy the opponent's monster that destroyed it.

On top of that it's just a really satisfying tonal shift from your usual meta analyses (which are also phenomenal, make no mistake). Especially if the format stagnates, which it always does towards the end of a banlist, this sort of thing is super refreshing instead of just hearing about how desperately Firewall (or any other problem that wrecks a format) needs to be nerfed or banned again and again.
Actually, those toy soldier's are pretty cool. Making them have to be searched before the special summon keeps the special summon with pop limited to a plus one.
Thanks, Dzeef. I’ve been looking for a Link monster maker. I make fake cards which I print for friends or use in my own videos so it is good to know I can make Link monsters now.
You should look at some Thunder Dragon Custom cards. They're either incredibly broken, copy pasted, underwhelming, or it's the 7 or 8 cards that are actually well made
Just so you know Dzeef, Impira, the lizard card with the draw one card whenever it is summoned effect, is actually an anime only card that was never printed. And clearly you can see why. It was used by the big five member that faced yugi in the virtual world arc.
I know I'm a little late to the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Agent of Law - Moon card was made so that not only do they have an Ash Blossom, but they have a SEARCHABLE Ash Blossom.
The Person creating Ipiria was thinking tactically. It's not a new card, the card is played in YuGiOh Season 2 by one of the big five and was just that Op. Along with other even worse cards.
10:06 that's Lavos. It's the primary antagonist of the JRPG game Chrono Trigger on the SNES. It's a super powerful creature that caused the apocalypse in the future. It even killed/vaporized the main protagonist mid-way into the game. The entire game is about time traveling and preventing the apocalypse from Lavos.
I'd like to see a video that goes over custom cards with simple effects and/or guidelines for making custom cards that aren't instantly broken because of some crazy synergy.
10:02 this card is a reference that you're missing. It's based on Lavos, the final boss from the SNES game Chrono Trigger. In the world of that game, Lavos is powerful enough to manipulate time, and destroy the world repeatedly if it isn't successfully killed. This card isn't far off in terms of it's power, and is a really cool reference.
When I heard about custom card, I was exited about finally being able to test all my ideas for custom archetypes and cards into the game. I made a Rotom archetype that revolves arrount switching Rotom into its different forms (Fan, Mow, Frost, Heat and Wash) depending of the situation, I based my archetype on the Masked HERO's mechanic of mask change, combined with the Invoked game style. I always care about the PSCT. Some advice I'd give to anyone who wants to make his custom card is that: 1.- If you are not sure how the PSCT works for your effect, search for an actual card that does something similar and use it as a guide. 2.- Make your cards feel like they'd be a thing in the game, even if the artwork doesn't fit the Yugioh art style 3.- Is important that your deck is competent and wins, but it must be balanced, and restricting all your cards or lock into the archetype isn't balancing, there are other ways of restriction, like the overall game style of the deck, conditions of activation, etc. 4.- Create unique mechanics or revive mechanics that are gimmiki in the TCG and make them viable. For example, you can take the Artifacts or Weather Painters, make an archype based on their gamestyle and create a new and interesting deck.
That Minecraft Steve card makes me wonder if you could make a useful card that searches equips but cannot use them. Maybe something like "Knife-Thrower Steve" (using Steve just as a filler name because of Minecraft). It searches Equip Spell Cards from the Deck, but then discards them for an effect. Maybe a whole archetype of weapon throwing monsters that just discard Equip Spell Cards to do things like burn damage, card destruction, flipping monsters face-down and unable to be flipped face-up again, stuff like that. Then perhaps add effects to the Equip Spell Cards designed to work with this archetype that only go off when discarded to the GY. "If this card is discarded to the GY by the effect of a "Knife Thrower" monster, during your End Phase you can return this card to your hand." Yeah... I like the idea of monsters that search Equip Spells now but cannot Equip them. :D
IMO, the most interesting thing about Funny Crok is that if you don't get rid of it from your opponent's field, they can just give it back to you on your turn.
At 8:00 it’s called the Agent Of Law - Moon but at the bottom of the card text it says you can only activate the effect of The Agent of Law - Titan Once Per Turn
Sacred Crane says What's up. When this card is Special summoned the controller of this card draws one card Not a hard once per turn. Not even a once per turn. Yugioh4realmen used this card in his Utopia change XYZ tactics deck 4 years ago.
i would love a rank 4 xyz that lets you change the names of face up cards on the field to use with super poly or to disrupt things like toon world, sanctuary in the sky,etc it could be somthing like castel, the sky drawing pencileer
also a back row version of creature swap to give your oponent stuff like relay soul, oops,or swords of reviling light for the weather report otk,and make it spell speed 4
i know you said uou didnt want us to post custom cards like 9 times but i really would.like you to read this one: Pot of Dirt (Normal Spell Card) Excavate 2 cards; send any Plant monster to the GY and return any other card to the bottom of your deck in any order, then if at least 1 monster was sent to the GY by this effect, Draw 2 cards. You can only use "Pot of Dirt" once per turn. :D
7:29 I hope you mean the iFunny logo in the corner of the art. And getting the name wrong in the effect. Bad mouthing Booette is a crime against the Holy Super Crown.
I don't think that Ipiria card at 8:43 is as broken as you say it is. It's basically the same as Sacred Crane, except it also works on Normal Summon, and that card isn't seeing play as far as I know. Or it is being overlooked right now.
For the effect of funny crock I assume it can be worded this way: You can give control of this card to your opponent then take control of 1 monster your opponent controls
Just when I was working on my first attempt on making a custom archetype on DB, Dzeeff uploads this video reviewing custom cards. Maybe he'll come across mine someday.
When's the big custom card tournament using Yugituber themed cards with dzeef's deck being made up entirely of Team Samurai X cards and Cimoooooooo using all those sweet RANK10YGO cards?
I created an alternative to Painful Choice. Any criticism? [Suspenseful Choice] [Trap Card] EFFECT: Have your opponent look at your Deck and choose 15 cards, then choose 5 of those cards (you do not look at the chosen cards), after, reveal those 5 cards and add 1 to your hand and send the others to the GY. Shuffle the remaining cards into the Deck. You cannot Summon, Set, or activate cards with the same name as the revealed cards the same turn you activated this card. You can only activate 1 "Suspenseful Choice" per turn.
Big problem. "You cannot summon or set those 5 cards". Well, how would the opponent know what could or couldn't be summoned because you just look at them. Instead it would have to be, reveal those 5, and you cannot summon, set or activate cards with the same name as cards revealed by this effect.
Your opponent has enough control here and knowledge to maybe just choose 10 cards. I like that this is a Trap. It's probably fair enough now. I'm not sure what deck this would be best suited for though.
@@ryugaknight True, but what are they going to do with that information? They still have to deal with the cards in their opponent's hand, field, and GY.
Would you guys be interested in a series of custom cards inspired by Duel Masters? The card design was awesome, I'd love to make some cards(or even full archetypes, given enough free time) and I'd love you to check them out. Would you dig that? The video was awesome as always btw, you never fail to put out entertaining content, love from Italy man!
Little did you know, Doug: Ipiria is actually an anime yugioh card and that effect is the exact same one as the one it had in the anime. And mind you, the guy who used it still lost.
With "The Agent of Law - Moon" being literally Ash blossom is, while true in the cardtext its also not really true because its easily searchable through Earth, which i think was the intention although the Effect was terribly lazy, even though its a really powerful effect and Agents would love to have a searchable Handtrap i guess. Personally i wouldve liked to see a portion of Ash Blossom and then if Sanctuary is on the field get another portion of the effect of another of the Ghost girls? (to not be as good as 2 ghost girls combined just parts and not the full effect though)
In regard to the Minecraft Steve card, perhaps they didn't want to make it too overpowered by allowing the searched equip spell to hook onto him. Maybe it was a balanced thing that the creator thought of. Then again, I may be looking into it a little more deeply than I should, and the creater really did just screw it up.
Rather than send them to you, I recommend taking a look at my support for the "Entity" series ie: Norden, Nyarla, Azathot etc. My cards feature realistic effects and actual proper PSCT. There is another user that did the same, however I'll leave that to whoever to decide who made the superior support.
I remember I made my own custom yugioh cards on paper, cut them out, and used them as proxies in a deck of cards and it was so cool. It is so easy to create your own cards and play with them. For example, my custom cards were from the Naruto anime show and each card did different thing. You could create your own cards for free and play with your friends. However they won't like how powerful you made them lol.. Just try to make them balanced. It would be fun
Every deck I see in customs is an essay that puts Astrograph Sorcerer to shame. I ran into a guy who had to explain the effect in chat because the effect text got cut off.
As an avid custom card creator that strives to make good balanced realistic cards, I love your series on the custom cards! Don't worry, I won't send you them, just like you requested haha.
Maybe I should upload some of my older custom cards to Dueling Book. I had an old archetype that really fucked around a lot with the rules. It had Synchros that used Xyz monsters as materials, Xyz monsters with Ranks that don’t match their materials’ levels, non-Xyz monsters using Xyz materials, and Xyz Tuners. The deck that I attempted to make with that archetype sucked, but I never really intended to play with it, anyway.
Why did this make me want to make a custom archetype based on Pinata's and Candy, where you have high level Pinatas and Low Level Candies, and you can tribute summon the pinatas by banishing candies from your graveyard equal to the number of tributes needed for a normal their level tribute summon, and when the Pinatas get destroyed you can special summon as many candy monsters from your hand/deck as you banished to summon this card. Sounds like it could brick a lot though if you fill it with too many of either, a hand of all pinatas is an absolute brick while all candies is about as useful as a handful of vanilla Ojamas without Ojama Country
I think the reason custom cards have these insanely long effects is because people have gotten so spoiled by these modern cards that have full paragraphs that any time card creators share monsters with short, simple effects that are easy to follow, they get blasted with people telling them that it’s “bland and uninteresting.” So they overcompensate.
I don’t want to be that guy doug but the lizard you talked about is actually an anime monster and its effect is probably pulled straight from it so that’s why it’s super broken. Great video as always tho keep it up.
I wanted to make a Astrology deck with the zodiac like Aries, Libra and stuff and Zoodiac would've been the perfect name (well, I only thought of using that name when the actual Zoodiac archetype came so...)
I like the opportunity to create our own cards but speaking from experience there's a lot of people that just don't care about making things balanced at all and make cards that just give them an auto win. Don't get me wrong I love it, I'm a huge fan of kozmos and I've always wanted konami to expand more on it like give them their own diagram like card but when you go to play it just seams like so many people just don't care. Or you'll get that person that just quits as soon as you play something a little bit broken.

Or it is being overlooked right now.
it's also an anime card
Crane can misstime
Crane can't miss timing, it says 'If', also the effect isn't even optional.
I think it's being overlooked because why would Firewall Dragon bother drawing cards when it can just F/OTKO you once it starts going
Searchable off King of the Feral Imps (so two level 4s)
For the effect of funny crock I assume it can be worded this way:
You can give control of this card to your opponent then take control of 1 monster your opponent controls
8:00 "What if I took a card and disguised it as my own. Hoho delightfully devilish Seymour."
[Suspenseful Choice]
[Trap Card]
EFFECT: Have your opponent look at your Deck and choose 15 cards, then choose 5 of those cards (you do not look at the chosen cards), after, reveal those 5 cards and add 1 to your hand and send the others to the GY.
@@SonicNineTails Oh yeah you're right! I didn't even think of that. I'll fix it.
The biggest problem is your opponent now knows your entire deck and card ratios.
@@ryugaknight True, but what are they going to do with that information? They still have to deal with the cards in their opponent's hand, field, and GY.
THIS IS SO FREAKING COOL!
What makes that "Draw on Summon" Lizard even more broken is the fact that it is searchable by King of the Feral Imps who is a generic 2-card Rank 4.
Thanks to you I am making a custom deck all based around counters; token counters that is!
I play my dzeeff spell, which removes from play all Divine-Beasts and all "Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon"(s) from the hand, field, or GY
Ipiria (the "draw 1 card" card) is just an anime effect from the Noah arc of Season 3 of the original anime.
Peep that 2nd Steve dabbing in the background of the card art
With "The Agent of Law - Moon" being literally Ash blossom is, while true in the cardtext its also not really true because its easily searchable through Earth, which i think was the intention although the Effect was terribly lazy, even though its a really powerful effect and Agents would love to have a searchable Handtrap i guess.
Personally i wouldve liked to see a portion of Ash Blossom and then if Sanctuary is on the field get another portion of the effect of another of the Ghost girls? (to not be as good as 2 ghost girls combined just parts and not the full effect though)
Max D can be special summoned by Needlefiber just like Ghost Ogre could and use its effect during your opponent's turn. Hmm......
Actually Ipiria is an anime exclusive monster from DM.
Checkout the "Seven Seas" archtype. They're pretty cool!
Make this into a series definitely
I'm going to try and make a deck based around the Monster Hunter franchise and I'll try to make it as balanced as possible.
People out here saying their custom cards are different and dzeef should review them are basically the Nice Guys of custom cards
Every deck I see in customs is an essay that puts Astrograph Sorcerer to shame. I ran into a guy who had to explain the effect in chat because the effect text got cut off.
This is a very interesting feature! Can't wait to try it out
Might have to use Dueling Book now, I liked Network's ability to upload custom cards.
0:51 I’ve seen that page multiple times on my computer, yet I’m a mortician!
As an avid custom card creator that strives to make good balanced realistic cards, I love your series on the custom cards!
Don't worry, I won't send you them, just like you requested haha.
Well, having the same effect as "Ash Blossom" on a LIGHT-Attribute Fairy-Type "Agent" monster does make it much accessible.
Hey look that lizard card is an exodia support card with firewall or cannon soldier
I remember making custom cards online when I was little based on video games I liked. I think they were pretty balanced
Great vid Dzeef! Love your content! Would you consider making a top "Unaffected by card effects" Card/Boss Monster list?
Better than the 5000 atk unaffected monsters that special summon themselves that I dueled recently.
I wanted to make a Astrology deck with the zodiac like Aries, Libra and stuff and Zoodiac would've been the perfect name (well, I only thought of using that name when the actual Zoodiac archetype came so...)
8:00 its an ash blossom that directly supports "agents"
I like the opportunity to create our own cards but speaking from experience there's a lot of people that just don't care about making things balanced at all and make cards that just give them an auto win. Don't get me wrong I love it, I'm a huge fan of kozmos and I've always wanted konami to expand more on it like give them their own diagram like card but when you go to play it just seams like so many people just don't care. Or you'll get that person that just quits as soon as you play something a little bit broken.
I can finally make that Five Headed Dragon archetype I've wanted to make.
Fuck yes.
Theres an important thing about that ash vlossom copy... its defence is 0. Its now searchable bu goblin zombie
