I prefer drinking my favorite brew using high quality beans, ground and brewed usually via a pour-over method (or special occasional espresso machine prep). Always have, and yes, I have tried the prepared pod machine methods as store samplings too! No pods for me!
Thanks so much for Sharing! I completely agree with you, the amount of waste produced by those pods is absolutely astounding.Never mind the amount of money saved! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's like an ink jet printers. Inexpensive printer, but the price of ink cartridges is astronomical. Plus the waste that comes with. Thanks for clarifying this.
I agree with you, the reason for me not to switch to cups is the price. I do like the amount of choices you have with cups. You can’t really change beans every other cup, and a Nespresso cup machine does make perfect coffee with just the press of the button. I never really thought about the waste, now that I do I definitely stay with my grinding espresso machine
I see you, but people with minimal consumption like myself would much rather prefer the capsule system. The ease of access is just unmatched, just put that baby in, press the button and voila!
Excellent video, thanks! Definitely the calculation everyone needs to make for their own usage before making a decision. One nerdy note though, the cost grows very much linearly here, adding a sixth and each additional pod will increase your costs by 1423.50/5=284.70 per pod used per day. Not sure why Americans love to use "exponentially" everywhere.
Wow insane those numbers, thanks for sharing. I am doing a search to see if is worth it to make the transition to a espresso machine from capsules. So even if I expend $1000 in a espresso machine I will be saving in the long run. Thanks once again
I have never been fan of those pods/capsule, not environment friendly. Kudos to your info sharing, hope people learn from you and save money and environment. Awesome info Mike!!
Just what I needed to hear. I’m Looking to buy an espresso machine. I’ve been using the pod for the last few years and watching your video, it makes more sense to go with the grind method. My only issue now is , do I want to spend $3,000.00+ for the machine I truly want - Lalit Bianca double boiler or Rocket or go with a lesser brand like a Breville? I love the way the Bianca is constructed …. beautifully made. It takes a little more time and effort to make the drink than the push button brand; but I don’t mind that. Do I go with a simple espresso machine that comes with a simple grinder -or- do I go with a more traditional more pricey machine and buy a separate grinder ?
To make up the difference it would take many year will the machine last that long? The coffe in pods is sealed so always fresh that has an advantage of trying a large variety of coffe thats not possible in a bean to cup
Thank you for your insightful comment! You've touched on some important considerations when comparing pod-based machines to bean-to-cup systems. It's true that pod coffee offers convenience and a wide variety of flavors, with each pod sealed for freshness. However, it's worth exploring the benefits of bean-to-cup machines to see why they might be a more cost-effective and flavorful option in the long run. Firstly, the longevity of bean-to-cup machines is impressive. Our models, for instance, have an average lifespan of 13 years, which speaks volumes about their durability and the value they offer over time. When considering the cost per cup, investing in a bean-to-cup machine can lead to significant savings compared to the recurring cost of purchasing pods. (average machine pays off completely in 2 years) Moreover, the freshness factor of grinding beans just before brewing cannot be overstated. This process ensures you get the richest and most aromatic cup of coffee possible, something that pre-ground coffee in pods might not always deliver. And while pods do offer a variety of flavors, bean-to-cup machines don't limit your choices. You're free to explore the entire world of coffee beans, from single-origin coffees to unique blends, allowing for a broader tasting experience without being confined to the selections of one pod brand. Automatic bean-to-cup machines elevate this experience by making any coffee drink you desire with just a touch of a button, combining convenience with customization and quality. This flexibility and the ability to tailor each cup to your liking is why you'll rarely see pod-based systems in coffee shops. Professionals in the coffee industry prefer the freshness, taste, and aroma that only bean-to-cup machines can provide, alongside the efficiency and customization they offer for crafting any coffee drink imaginable. Choosing between a pod-based system and a bean-to-cup machine ultimately comes down to what you value most in your coffee experience-whether it's the convenience and variety of pods or the freshness, taste, and cost-effectiveness of grinding whole beans. If you're looking for a machine that offers longevity, unparalleled taste, and the joy of exploring a wide range of coffee beans, a bean-to-cup machine might just be the perfect choice for you.

I bought the Jura ENA 8 last year and it was the best purchase for my family. We love espresso and americano coffee!
We're very happy to hear that! Enjoy your machine! 😀

thats is the worst Comparison
6g capsule = 1 cup of coffee
18g beans = 1 cup of coffee
However capsule cup of coffee would have less coffee. So comparison from a quality and volume perspective, beans win.
Thanks. Digiting my pod machine tomorrow ☕️
great video thanks
Known from the beginning, pods are not good
🤯
