It is interesting theres alot of debate whether it will work, people say it leak and all sorts but from everywhere i have seen, the intake port let alone the exhaust has only ever been done with a normal press fit (0.002 to 0.008mm) interference fit. Where i have used liquid nitrogen. Basically a insane interference fit, intake ports 0.1mm over sized and exhaust port is 0.08mm over sized
Missed this man, they good engines just need some work, great cheep alternatives with more and newer condition housings. Cheers man hope you follow and enjoy
Aha cheers man yea, they dirt cheep atm, been wanting to build and play with rotaries for cheep, idk why i didnt do it years ago but fuck it doing it now and going full out aha. They cheep engines but parts and machining isnt. Luckily can do it all for free aha
@@Ed_in_a_shed ayye good shit. Maybe when I get myself a shop situated with my own machining tools they'll still be cheap enough to get into. I have an s5 in my 88' to play with if they aren't though. Hopefully I don't blow it up before having fun with it 😂.
@@Kenny_s67 yea man just buy loads of cheep ones now, hopefully in the future soon ill start stacking up and buying 13bs and stack up lightened rotors and shit to be sold and maybe some odd full pp housings. If i can get hold of a spare iron i may make my own cheeper bridgeport template that people and download for free or buy a template cheep as hell
@@Ed_in_a_shed that would be awesome (template), especially if you'd be willing to part ways with them for free. When it comes to stacking spares for myself, sadly I just don't have the room for them and the moment. Maybe I can talk some family with space to hold on to them for me though 🤔
@@Kenny_s67 aha yea thats the thing people charge like 50-60 pound for a template on a bit of steel, where if you got the design correct you could tell people to use specific printing options for it to be printed on card or paper accurately or, charge for it but it to be cheeper and sent as a large letter.
I been waiting for someone other than me to build a na full pp gsle housing renesis 13b for 25 years I hope you do build a custom duel ida down draft intake system and a full 5 x extended primary extractors sports exhaust system can't wait to see how much horse power you get out of this build cheers . 20b Kangaroo.
Aha cheers, but its not a glse housings they are renesis housings, i have several ways and plans to even seal the exhaust ports incase the insane interference fit doesnt work. Imma be running bored out black top itbs (47mm now) 4 of them feeding the side ports and peripheral ports. I was thinking to use the side exhaust ports but im just gonna use the 2 larger exhaust peripheral ports other wise i will have issues with the steering column on the mx5. But should make some nice healthy power. Then 6 injectors 2 for idle in the irons and then 4 1 per throttle body on a gantry style injector rail for max air fuel mix and atomisation
For the pure cheepness of this engine im also going to use the renesis irons and just block off the exhaust side ports and just use the peripherals. At a later date when i come todo a even more in depth pure build. And dowel it and everything. I may use gslse irons. But that wont be for a year or so. The benefit with the renesis irons is they have the best side intake ports of them all iirc and mazda really went to town on the side intakes. The let down was the exhaust side ports.
Been done before without good results naturally aspirated. Too much intake and exhaust flow= no scavenging = no power. nothing will beat a normal pport intake and exhaust.
@@ultimatejay the funny thing is im not using the side exhaust ports and this wasnt purely to build a hybrid renesis but to put a end to the peripheral porting a exhaust port on renesis housings! Actually partly correct the intake doesnt have much effect on scavenging its the exhaust port that does the scavenging and the manifold thus using only peripheral ports. And the intake peripheral port opens before the intake side port.
Everyone says this is possible but not plausible but you did it! Way to go!

very nice work but i had to laugh when you were showing the intake plenum.. 24:39your radio had the word FAILURE showing on the face..
Cheers and aha yea coincidence i think not 😂. Nah took the misses mx5 and radio always says that annoyingly
Great content 👍 always liked the idea of a hybrid renesis but this seems like a good alternative. Hope the channel explodes for you mate 👍

Exactly what i wanted to do and some awesome.
Aha yea man it isnt easy but do able hopefully soon testing the full PP
Sorry typo meant to say 15 years. 20b Kangaroo
That's lots of work, but it's very cool dude.
Cheers man yea it is but i enjoy doing it so its not too bad
That's cool as hell mate. Very impressed.
Aha cheers man 🫡
Nice video mate keep up the good work 👍
Cheers man
Nice work mate
Cheers man hugely appreciated slowly getting there aha
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out, had a similar project in mind for my NA years ago since Renesis engines were cheap.

Definitely
So are you going to keep it full renesis or are you going to make a frankstein block
