Does anyone happen to know if the empty/fill ports are NPT threads? would be super convenient if i could thread some quater turn valves onto it for cleaner oil changes.
It says in the instructions for this pump to add oil until in bottom of sight glass then let run for a minute then add oil while pump is running and fill to oil line.
I put the vacuum oil in the exhaust place instead of the oil chamber. because it was a chinese pump that said "OIL" on the exhuast cap. but theres another oil cap thats where the oil is supposed to go. How do i clear out the oil that i mistakenly poured in the exhaust chamber?
well, I would imagine that you could either try to unscrew the oil screw on the bottom that lets the oil out... or turn the whole pump upside down and let the oil flow out the way it went in. I am far from an expert on this so good luck
Just did the same mistake man but only put like 2oz of oil not much but i drained it up side down hope I got it out Lett you know how it does when I run it lol wish me luck. E.
Some vacuum pumps, you can pour the oil into the exhaust outlet but others have a valve built into the exhaust outlet that won't allow the oil to flow down into the reservoir. The purpose of this valve is to keep moisture, dirt and debris from entering the exhaust and contaminating the oil reservoir, it's a feature instead of a flaw. In this case, remove the fill plug and pour the oil into the oil fill.
I love how he says pump part and motor. When everyone watching knows he wasn’t a clue what inside the pump or how it works. Then he added that the motor will overheat without oil. There is no oil in the motor and if there is that pump has some problems. Lol
I believe it’s for degassing. When you’re pulling a vacuum you open it up to allow moisture to escape. Otherwise it gets trapped in the oil and messes with your vacuum. If you want to pull a deep vacuum, you need to degas
@@bennettslab2084 what if I'm getting oil leaking out from the gas port? Seems like its getting to much pressure and wants to spray from vent cap. Any thoughts on what could work to fix it t
im not sure whether you have ever done this before, you got there, but she was a journey.
The hole under the BIG red cap on top of the pump housing is a lot easier place to pour the new oil in.
@@rumleyrum5839 good idea

Can I use compressor oil

thanks for this video, I hate reading manuals!!!

Esmar Garcia I did the same thing.... It must be some sick joke to put a big oil sign where oil is not supposed to go!

Can you please show us how to plug it in? That part is also confusing me.
Umm, the red knob saying Oil.. how come you dont fill it in there? Why two places?

How often do you change the oil for this ?
I think I do it when the oil gets significantly cloudy Through the port hole. However refer to someone else's advice because it's probably better
What is the large red cap on top of the oil reservoir for?
I believe it’s for degassing. When you’re pulling a vacuum you open it up to allow moisture to escape. Otherwise it gets trapped in the oil and messes with your vacuum. If you want to pull a deep vacuum, you need to degas
I would have wiped the bottom of the vacuum pump before installing the plug.
When my vacuum pump is almost at full vacuum it tends to release a misty substance into the air. Is that normal or a problem
Yes as far as I can see my pump has always done that. I think it's a little bit of the pump oil evaporating in the low pressure

Are there any health concerns with vacuum pump oil
I'm not sure.
@@bennettslab2084 This is Vacuum Pump 101 and you're not sure mate!
Why are 2 filling oil caps? (What is the bigger oil cap for?)
The big cap on the top is the air out port. It just so happens to also be in the oil Reservoir

@@floatybyboaty yeah I figured that out pretty quick after posting haha
For some reason, my oil level isn't going up?
What type of oil do u have
Premium pump oil, I found it on Amazon
For some reason my oil is like spitting out of the air vent
it does that sometimes
Because your sucking air from somewhere
Probaby too much oil or leaking from oil compartment (tight it up)
terrible video-you filled it past the fill line and you're supposed to fill with pump running!!!!
Oh, I didn't know that last part. Thx for the info
