    This is the fight that cemented my love for Lomachenko. And all because of what happens after the match.
    He's celebrating and the father/coach tells him to calm down and tone down the celebration, puts on the rosary necklace and when a corner man puts a crown on Loma's head, Anatoly IMMEDIATELY rips it away and signs to the man to get rid of it.
    I've got nothing more to say.

    Uninformed fans are quick to point out the size difference not knowing Loma never wanted this fight to begin with because he knew he would get no credit. He even says right after that it didn’t mean much because of the size. Rigo had a chance to make the fight years prior when Loma was still at 126 but he demanded unrealistic money and wanted a catch weight of 124 knowing Loma couldn’t make that weight. It was only after he saw that Loma wasn’t going to sit around and wait he decided to follow Loma to 130 because that was the only fight where he could make decent money. Rigo put himself at that disadvantage. Let’s also not forget that he harassed and taunted Loma on social media for years until he got what he asked for. Any knowledgeable fan knew beforehand the size was going to be too much but certain fans were still saying Loma was ducking and that he was going to get schooled. Some were even saying Rigo was going to break his jaw. It wasn’t until after that they started crying about the weight and using it as an excuse.

Just because a fighter loses a fight it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t take away from what that fighter has previously accomplished. Most of the great fighters in history have multiple loses. Anyone can have a undefeated record if managed properly these days. It’s about who you’ve fought. The visual size difference between Loma and Rigo is the size difference that Loma has faced every fight at lightweight except for Crolla. Linares was much bigger, so was Campbell, Teofimo, Nakatani, Commey (who moved up to 140 right after the fight), and Ortiz.

    • @ima831

      what size difference? if they both have a similar height and reach! the only difference is that ringo is more fibrous or thinner, but that doesn't affect the reach...

    • @FLSouthBoyz
      @FLSouthBoyz Год назад

      Your full of shit. Loma definitely has fought bigger statured opponents in HIS weight class but being bigger is more about weight than height and reach. And teo is more muscular than loma but if you watch the fight they literally look the same size. Loma looks a bit taller. Stop with the excuses for loma. I gave him credit for this fight. He didn't win due to the size difference he was just better but there is an argument for him fighting a guy who literally moved up 2 weight classes just for the fight. Those bigger opponents your saying loma fights arent 2 weight classes above him. They're making weight just like he does. And they were in the weight class before he got there. Everyone isnt going to be the same height or have the same reach. We all have different body types. Some with longer limbs some who put on muscle mass easier than others. What matters is the weight.

    • @Marcus-h9n
      @Marcus-h9n 2 месяца назад

      Agreed!
      This was one of the weirdest fights I've ever seen, and people forget the context: (1) nobody would fight Rigo after he destroyed Donaire, (2) his own promoter, Bob Arum, continually spoke negatively about him in the media for a long time, and many people thought it was because Rigo had derailed Arum's plans for Donaire, (3) Rigo was continuously booed and criticized NOT for fighting dirty on the inside and holding, but for staying in the outside and moving, to the point where people were saying that he was unwatchable and the rumor was that networks were refusing to put him on their cards.
      After he got criticized so much he had several fights where he seemingly tried to make the fight more "fan friendly" by fighting on the inside, including this one, and he looked terrible in those fights because he is not AT ALL an inside fighter. All he really ends up doing is just ducking and holding when he tries to fight on the inside.
      So one may think that is simply what happened here: that he didn't fight his fight because he knew he needed to stay inside and mix it up a bit or he might be sent to fight nobodies in Japan for the rest of his career.
      However, when he didn't even really try any of his patented huge midrange left hands, of which he almost always uncorks at least a few each fight, I started thinking, "What is going on here? Is he really trying?"
      Then when he quit I was really bewildered. He was never hit hard, never hurt, never in trouble, never looked shaky, nothing. He was just fighting terribly. I thought the day it happened: what the hell was that?
      I HATE to be conspiratorial, but it made me think: maybe he was told, "Nobody wants to fight you, nobody wants to watch you, no network wants to show you. So we'll throw you in with Loma and you'll make some money, but you have to move up, and if you even think about ruining our plans for him like you did with Donaire, you'll never fight in this country again."
      That's my hypothesis: he knew what time it was, so he took the fight, did what he had to do to keep himself safe but make the fight look like a fight (ducking, holding, etc.), didn't really throw any big shots or counters, and got up out of there with a few dollars.
      I'm not saying this is certainly true, but when you look at the context and Rigo's struggles to find an opponent after dismantling Donaire, it doesn't seem implausible to me.
      Also, I'm not saying he would have beaten Loma in a genuine fight. I'm just saying that I think this fight was thrown.
