I excelled at SEGA's vector games or should I say at 3 out of the 5 they released. I always had the highest score no matter where I played them. Current high scores (so far) are..."ELIMINATOR"--540,100 "TAC/SCAN"--438,200 "ZEKTOR"--313,500. As for "SPACE FURY"--33,320 which I suppose is good but it fails in comparison to the others. Jason, what's your highest score on "TAC/SCAN"? Nice collection. :)
One thing I loved about the vector games was that their sound design was almost always top notch, even back to the really old games like "Warrior" and "Tailgunner." Really ahead of their time.
So glad to see another video from you, and its about vector arcades, which are like my #1 thing since i got my vectrex. Have an awesome 2019 and greetings from germany!
Welcome back! Love hearing you are working on Demon, Eliminator and Zektor in addition to your Aztarac! Here's to unleashing more great rare and stellar Vector arcades for 2019!
Great list! You're an awesome ol' gamer, but I can't believe you didn't include RIP OFF! Such a great game for 2 players. Tell me if this was common back in the day... My friend & I used to rig the "Thrust" button. We took a coffee swizzle stick and jam it into its button assembly so we'd be constantly be moving forward. It made the game so much more fun and easier (well, for us, at least)!
A polarized filter can help reduce some of the glare and reflection on the screens. If you camera takes threaded filters & lens, you could get a circular polarizer filter for it.
Also it would help to darken the room , or at least turn down the lights to prevent reflections. I used to play in this one local mall arcade that had black lights installed.
YES! Been waiting for a video like this forever! Also, that Spaceduel story nearly made me cry ;o; Side note, I love to watch really long videos of people just playing games forever and ever, so I wouldn't mind a video like that.
Welcome back and Happy Holidays dude. I would say make a video of you just showing the inside components on these classic games. I find vector graphic games to be fascinating.
Wow, never seen some of those games. I know the Star Castle game near my home in the 80s must have sucked up about $300-400 worth of quarters. Thanks for putting the video together.
Jason you know what the problem is the camera does not do any of these games justice, seeing these things in front of you is a different story altogether, these games pop with beautiful colors and visuals. Great list with a great bunch of games I would love to see a video of you playing or at least showing each game you have in your collection. I know it would be a long video but that's ok.
Would love to see a one-button hack for your Asteroids machine (constant rotate right, constant auto-fire, no death on re-entry - use Hyperspace alone to play).
no hay nada mas realista en cuanto a juegos espaciales que los juegos vectoriales de los 70 y 80. Los graficos, los efectos de sonido... Ningun juego moderno tiene la magia de aquellos
My favorite vector graphics arcade machines is.. STAR TREK but the Captain chair cockpit version. And not the outside Square monitor and the captain chair but the one that can fully immense you.. SPACE DUAL..definitely. ASTEROIDS..of course. TEMPEST..as well. STAR CASTLE..ok it was hard. RIP OFF... Same thing hard as hell.. STAR WARS first cabinet and STAR WARS Empire Strikes Back cabinet.. And that's all I can remember. But do remember space wars. That you own that was the first introduction to vector graphics back in the day. And would like to own it maybe one day.
Welcome back Jason! Happy new year to you and your family and hope 2019 brings good stuff to everyone. Love the new opening pretty cool but the fart noise at the end. Not so much.
back with a vengeance Jason X) ..that space fury alien 31:00 brought to mind this dummy I did some years ago codepen.io/samuli/full/gPgooa it maps a vector face to emotional states that it can blend between. thought about using it in a GOAP (Goal-Oriented Action Planning) agent/assistant system with bunch of integrations (slightly over-ambitious :P). But maybe instead it could be a game character that'd react to how well the player does. enthusiastic if doing well, scared when player runs low on ammo, angry if they shoot non-enemies. Could be amusing to have it react in heat of battle.
Also did you ever see the laser version of asteroids? A guy in England made Lasertron version of asteroid that works. Do a Google search real laser asteroids and watch it. If not I can send you a link.
Yes, video of Vectors is so frustrating! What your eyes/brain sees is _never_ what (my) Vectrex videos come out. I think some of Vextrex videoing is the 50Hz display and our 60fps, in addition to not showing the huge brightness levels and phosphor and visual perception trails. Almost always more flicker than in real life. Etc. I like to repeat this a lot because if viewers have never seen vectors it in real life they can’t watch a RUclips and see what it is like. Thoughts on VecFever new firmware with Asteroids emulated in cart? You have the real Asteroids, I don’t. I thought Rocks n Saucers was spectacular, but real 1979 Asteroids on Vectrex, both horiz & vert, plays even better! I always got a kick that the 1979 Atari Home Computer can play 1979 Arcade Asteroids in a sort-of emulator, (not 100% speed but acceptable, same processor, vector to raster though).
Wait....what? Hold on.. You made a vectrix arcade machine with color..and it works. I am soooo confused. The last time I have seen the vectrex was you just sync it up with a color monitor and it worked. And now a fully upright arcade and working with color which you were working on last time. And now an upright cabinet with Vectrix working with color attached.... Man your missing some steps here dude!
technically nearly all of them have the same resolution 1024 X 1024 . if you want my opinion on which had the most graphics on screen i might go with major havoc
@@ArcadeJason do some research on flu shots. Trust me, you do not want them. 80% or more of flu shots have MERCURY in them. The only thing MERCURY does for the human body is harm it.

Just love this video, thanks Jason!
Videos that just show off one game, inside and out, are pretty cool!
hmmm ok
If I had the time, and money I would build an old school Space War cab. But I would enhance it while still retaining old school elements.
The new arcade Jason intro is badass dude!
thanks man
