  • New 2023 Dongfeng M-Hero 917 Rugged Off-road SUV The M-Hero 917 by Dongfeng has made its debut in China. This rugged vehicle offers both electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) powertrain choices, boasting an impressive peak power of 1,088 horsepower. The electric version can cover a distance of up to 505 kilometers on a single charge, while the EREV variant offers an extended combined range of 1,032 kilometers under CLTC conditions.
    Dongfeng's M-Hero is a premium off-road brand that gained recognition with the release of the civilian version of the Warrior (Mengshi) M50 ICE pickup truck. The positive response from consumers highlighted a growing demand for these vehicles. In response, Dongfeng expanded its Warrior lineup into two distinct branches. The first branch includes internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, featuring models like the M50 and MS600. The second branch focuses on electric vehicles (BEVs) and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), ultimately evolving into an independent brand known internationally as 'M-Hero.' The 2023 Dongfeng M-Hero 917 has officially commenced its pre-sales in China.
    Regarding its exterior design, the new 2023 Dongfeng M-Hero 917 presents itself as a robust SUV with imposingly large bumpers, a noticeable ground clearance, abbreviated front and rear overhangs, a raised bonnet line, and striking LED lighting. In terms of dimensions, this formidable vehicle measures 4987/2080/1935 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. To put this into perspective, the 917 is 70 mm longer, 149 mm wider, and 34 mm lower than the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Despite its substantial size, the M-Hero 917 accommodates only five seats in its interior.
    When it comes to interior design, the 2023 M-Hero 917 offers a noteworthy configuration. It features three screens. The first is an LCD instrument panel, while the second is a touchscreen designed for the driver. The third screen is dedicated to the front passenger. Notably, the M-Hero 917 boasts a broad center tunnel, housing a substantial gear shifter and a convenient wireless phone charging pad. Additionally, the seats are optionally covered in Alcantara, a choice that might be seen as unconventional for an off-road vehicle.
    It's worth noting that the M-Hero 917 is built upon Dongfeng's new MORA platform and offers two distinct powertrain options. The first choice is the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) version, equipped with four electric motors similar to the setup in the BYD YangWang U8. This configuration delivers an impressive total power output of 800 kW (equivalent to 1,088 hp), allowing for a swift acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. These electric motors are powered by a substantial 140-kWh ternary (NMC) battery sourced from CATL, making it one of the largest battery capacities available. However, due to the M-Hero 917's substantial curb weight of 3,293 kg and its high power output, the maximum range achievable on a single battery charge is 505 km (under CLTC conditions). This range may appear relatively limited by contemporary standards, which is why the M-Hero 917 also offers an EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) version to address this concern.
    The EREV version of the M-Hero 917 boasts three electric motors, delivering a combined power of 600 kW (816 hp). Its 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE, generating 197 hp, doesn't transmit torque to the wheels. Instead, it functions as a generator to recharge the battery and supply power directly to the electric motor. The battery, also provided by CATL and with a 66 kWh capacity, contributes to the remarkable mixed range of 1,032 kilometers (CLTC).
    The M-Hero 917 has only two trim levels. Their functional equipment is identical, and they differ only in the powertrain type. The entry-level 917 is EREV

    Me parece una auto muy bonito con la ventaja de ser eléctrico, pero el vídeo le resta mucho potencial porque lo que mostraron lo hago yo con mi Nissan NP300 4x2 y llantas de calle, lo he metido en los mismos terrenos y cruzado ríos, creo que lo deben mostrar en verdadero terreno complicado
